Seriously? What exactly is it about the Dragon Age series that inspires so much faith and a desire to play that you are willing to fork out so much money in order to play it? Hell I am not even sure I am willing to pay 60 for the latest installment let alone 600.
Because I absolutely adored DA:O And I really enojoyed Dragon age 2. I think DA2 could have been a fabulous game had it not been so rushed. I have faith that bioware will do great things with DA3. In short, why would I shell out 600$ for a new console just to play dragon age? Because I love it.
It's not that stupid really. Most people buy consoles or upgrades for PC in order to play certain games not the other way around. For example I bought PS1 for mere couple franchises I knew was coming to the system. I bought PS2 because heard some of my favorite franchises were heading to that system etc.
Consoles are only as good as the games released for them. People will tend to buy the next gens based on which franchises will be on them so that they can continue to play the franchises they love and DA:I won't be the only game ever released on that system so it's an investment in the future of your hobby.
Personally however I play on PC these days and also even if I was to pick up a new console I would wait till price drops maybe year after release when the amount of games on them are greater in number but in principle buying a new system for franchise love is not stupid.
bioware I beg of you tellme if DA3 will be for xbox 360

Nope. Buying a new system for a continuation of a "franchise" you love is not stupid. It would only be silly if that was the only game you ever bought for it and even then would depend on how much disposable income you have to spend on your hobbies as in it would not be silly even if was only game bought for it if you had a massive amount of disposable income.

This. I'm not gonna buy a new console and just play DA:I and nothing else, heavens no! DA:I is simply the game that gives me the biggest desire to continue on to a next gen console.

Not going to ever happen, mate. Bioware has already stated it's far to difficult porting from pc > console, rather than console > pc.

I'm pretty zen either way. If DA III is 360/PS3/PC and the 720 is cross-compatible with the 360 game library then I will be buying the 720. My first thought though is to which version of the games to get since I play cross-platform.

then it would be better if they don't release it on consoles at all . good reasons for that . I'm pretty sure no one enjoyed DA:O on consoles and no one enjoyed DA2 on anything

You'd be wrong. You do realize both games had far more sales on console, yes?
And Dragon age 3 sales will be no different. What you're suggesting is just bad business. There just isn't a large enough pc market to heed such a request. Best get used to the fact that pc design will be dictated by console.

You only have some of the best selling games of all time on the PC, even in modern times. Yes, you're right, DA:O and DA2 sold better on the consoles. Yet other games have sold more on the PC. What does this tell us?

Personally I'm for DA3 being on the next gen consoles and PC.

Ooooo I know! AAA titles sale better on console?
What do you think skyrim? Yes or no?
me3? Yes/no?
Ac3? Yes/no
Halo? Yes/no?
Wait, I'm sorry. Halo used to be on pc, before the small market and lack of sales forced it into a console exclusive franchise

Do VGChartz figures include digital distribution sales? Because a huge portion of PC game sales today are distributed entirely online.Emzamination wrote...

This is just the kind of fanboy narm that probably leaves BioWare employees in stitches during the long, grueling hours of game development. I'm sorry, but it makes me laugh too! It's right up there with "BioWare I demand!" threads.

Nay. Companies don't release digitial sales to the public.
Because a huge portion of PC game sales today are distributed entirely online.
Not at all. Farcry 3 had more physical sales on console than pc <console> <pc>, and when asked about digital sale numbers, ubisoft responded that digital distribution only made up 16% of sales. Futhermore they replied that digital distribution usually only makes up 6 to 7% of sales. Digitial distribution is pretty minor. <link>

Q: You said 16% of FC3 sales came from Digital. 16% of overall or PC?
A: Overall. Might be interesting for you that going forward (this can change), on average, on new release products about 6-7% of sales will be digital, up from <2%. Interesting reference, of course each game might change. We know it will continue to grow. Back catalogue, digital distribution is getting closer to 50%. 6-7% is more for new releases.
Also, 1/3 of EA's core gaming (or however thay called it on the report) revenue comes from Origin, so it's safe to say physical PC sales are irrelevant (atleast for them).

I'm pretty sure that DA3 will be next gen. The PS4 will launch holiday season, this year. Also it appears the new Xbox will as well. And DA3 from rumors, will hit stores this holiday season as well. Seems to make sense that it will be a launch title for those systems.
Agree 200%, if going next gen means they can make characters like this:

I'm so willing to spend my money on a PS4 / good upgrade.

Indeed. That's exactly what I referenced. Overall is a combination of digital game distribution across pc/xbl/psn ect, which places the percentage of pc dd at a pretty low point, with the total being low to begin with. If you're pointing at their grand total in the back catalogue numbers, keep in mind that 50% again is a combination of dd across all platforms, not just pc. Digital distribution is minor.
Do you have any links stating origin brings in 1/3 of Ea sales?

But that's 16% of all sales, not 16% of PC sales. That changes the PC percentage from 18% of all physical sales to 30% of total sales.Emzamination wrote...

Something that is 30% of your total sales is a big piece of your market. And this is just one game. We don't have data about whether some games or genres skew toward console or PC in their popularity. We don't have enough information to draw anything like a firm conclusion here.
I'll agree that it doesn't make sense to design for PC and then port, as the PC is the more powerful and more versatile platform. But gamers choose different platforms because of the specific characteristics of those platforms. It would be nice if a game released on their platform of choice actually used their platform's strengths (like customisable UI).

Got this snippet from here.Xbox 720 price
That leaked document we mentioned earlier mentions a $299 (£190) price point which sounds gloriously ambitious to us. Expect the Xbox 720 price to be a bit more than that but assuming the PS4 launches around the same time, expect some competitive pricing.
That price would be a little easier to swallow. But I'm guessing $399 or more. They are apparently putting a DVR and a 3D projector in the damn thing. It's got half a grand written all over it, IF rumors are true. Granted, there could be a couple versions of it. The extra loaded version with all of the other stuff that has nothing to do with, you know, GAMING. and maybe a bare bones version for people who just want it to play next gen games. We'll see.
