Also remember that if you start getting out a missile the instant a teammate gets grabbed by a Banshee, you're not going to be able to save them in time. It takes just a bit longer to get out a missile than it does for a Banshee sync kill, but you *can* get the Banshee to drop them by dealing a large amount of damage in a short amount of time.

Enemies will spawn infinitely on objective waves until you finish the objectives
Nothing is worse than players who do not help on objectives and spend time killing enemies instead. Unless the enemies are directly preventing you from completing the objective (I.e. standing next to a device) or are about to kill you they should be ignored until the objective is completed

You've covered all the tactics I put in Just Landed: A Guide to MP for New Arrivals, with one exception: don't camp the LZ.
I'm amazed at how often even experienced players run to defend the Alamo (remember what happened at the Alamo?), rather than leaving the landing zone clear until extraction is close. It's far easier to start further away then clear toward the LZ than it is to hunker down while the enemy swarms in.

well common sense? - yes.
skill? i don't think such a word should be used, given that we are playing pve game.

hmm. honestly i don't think that "skill" or its absence have anything to do with fitness and platinum. is it possible to run platinum with out fitness? sure it is possible. does it takes "skill" to do that?

99% of all games since the dawn of video games are PVE, are you saying that none of them require skills?
Ever heard of that old french proverb: "Turn your tongue seven times before speaking"? There's a reason for that...

Though I must say, if a random is not camping the extraction on wave 11 with me and my teammates I might get a bit pissed off since the combined firepower of 4 can usually handle it. Also, always good to start at the LZ on wave 11 to draw all enemies there, when it is 1-1,5 minute left then run to the other side of the map and then when it is about 20-30 seconds left head back to LZ. That way you basically never have to fight anything during extraction. If you stay on the other side of the map from the beginning it just means that you have to keep the enemies busy there for a while before you can run back. Kiting is a lot better!

This is a very good thread for new players or just players that hasn't been able to play on Gold or Platinum yet. Should be a sticky on this forum.

Yeah, I got the idea when Brian Johnson asked for a FAQ on ME3, but turned out to be about common issues and whatnot. I figured compiling this list would help in the areas not covered by that FAQ...
I get what you said and I agree this solution is a great one. I rarely do it myself, but this is maybe the best solution overall. What I'm afraid of is that players will follow you to the LZ at the beginning and struggle to kite them when you move at the end of the map, defeating the purpose entirely. I'll think about including it to the Platinum section nonetheless.
Thanks for the tip.

I have been interested in trying me3mp for a while, but I've never played any kind of mp before. Being a clueless newb has made me hesitant to try. How do you communicate between random strangers to assist in completing objectives? Where do you learn what keys do what since there is no ingame pause? Sorry if these questions sound stupid...I really have no idea. Completed me3sp on insanity multiple times if that bears any relevance in mp.
I was like you when I started the MP. Honestly, don't pass out on the multiplayer, I was afraid when Bioware said they were gonna include it in the game, but it turns out it's better than the SP... (I loved the ending, I found the rest "meh", could have been so much more...)
Communication is not "essential" for Bronze and Silver. Players just know they need to complete the objectives, only first timers are lost, but that doesn't last much. If you're still hesitant, buy a 30$ microphone, this will last you all ME3 MP and probably ME4 MP.
Since you cannot "pause" the game, you won't be able to change directly the order of the powers in the top hotkey list (keys 1 to 8). You'll need to adjust your key bindings in the options. I don't know if it's easy on XBOX and PS3, but it is on PC even if it's annoying sometimes when trying multiple character in a row.
A lot of people say "Insanity" for SP is about the Silver difficulty in MP. I don't know, never did it on Insanity. What I know is that everyone can make it to Gold difficulty since I did and I was more than bad.
First tip, when you select "Quick match" in the MP menu, select the difficulty "Bronze". I don't know what Bioware was thinking, but they put "Random" as the default difficulty which can drop you in a Platinum game (highest difficulty).
It will take you a couple games to get use to the basic mechanics, but follow my tips in this thread, use the class builder (Bronze section), read a bit on the characters you want to use. Knowlege will be your best asset in this game. There's no reason for you to avoid the MP, have fun.

I can also tell you that this strategy doesn't really work if you have a Juggernaut in the team

Thanks! Much Appreciated. Guess I should have specified I'm a PCer.
I see that there are a few different free dlc's tied to mp...do I need these? (I installed the initial one but never played.)
Also, I've heard a few comments regarding some quirkiness and bugs...one comment I saw referenced shield regen being a pain in the azz. Anything you'd warn me about?
Had opposite experience with sp game...loved game as whole but despised ending...though part of love was the combat (of which I've never found particularly interesting in games previously.)
Thanks for setting up this thread...it helps. Mods should sticky this.

You start with basic weapons/characters unlocked and then buy packs with the credits you earn from multiplayer matches, but you have 2 of each class and each class has 3 power trees, 1 passive tree and 1 health/melee tree. Your characters level up and gain points like in SP and when you reach level 20 (max level) you will have enough points for all but 1 tree to be maxed out, or a mix if you prefer.
The best advice I could probably give is to find a friend or two, maybe make a thread on the forum since most are quite friendly, and get used to bronze and unlock new characters/weapons and experiment. Your first few games may be a bit crappy as your characters will probably be low level and as such won't have much points into powers/the things that make them unique/fun, but I'd at least level one character to level 20 (probably take up to 10 matches I guess) and see if you like the MP or not.

Glad I could help you.
As for the DLC, they're free so I don't see why you wouldn't use them... They add a lot of things and you probably won't find a single match without them...
For the bugs, ME3 is horrible. The tooltips are lying to your face, there's a lot of things that doesn't work as intended (never take Radius on Shockwave for example), but the game is fun. Don't worry about the bugs, they're not game breaking and if you find something odd, you have this forum to search and ask.
I would ask you though to maybe start your own thread so to not hijack this one. I don't mind answering "unrelated" questions, but I don't want it to become the subject of the thread either. Thanks for your comprehension.
