I know mass effect 2 and 1 will be popular contenders, but citadel dlc really put me3 over the top imo. Add that + the great multiplayer and the fact that ive played me3 for over 130 hours between the two modes...

Me3- lots of improvements all around, very long playability between dlc and replay value, free multiplayer dlc was great
ME2- great game, didn't like the puzzles on every vault box, loved just about everything else, RIP morinth/kelly
ME1-Great game makes up for its gameplay flaws with depth that the other 2 lack. (galaxy feels most at peace here and its great to be able to explore planets on the mako

DLC wise I say

Citadel- funny, light hearted, very good writing and you can see the devs lovingly lifted forum memes into the game
Shadow broker- First dlc to add a real hub (never played bring down the sky), Liara fan, very cooly wrapped up me1 plot
Leviathan- Mystery, atmosphere and pure lore revelations.

As an aside: Bioware I much rather unorthodox gameplay found in leviathan and citadel dlc to the run and gun action of omega dlc.

What do you guys think?

ME2 > ME3 >ME1. ME1's gameplay is too dated now. ME2 focuses on the characters and still has the best ending mission I've seen in a game. ME3's ending is too meh.

ME2. Simply for superior character interaction, not because the combat was blow-your-mind or that the plot was any good.

Man. I really don't know; it's close.

ME1: I have to say this is my least favorite due to playing ME2 first. I did go back and play ME1, and enjoyed it, but it felt dated as a result of my error.

ME2: I really enjoyed ME2. It was long and kept me interested, even though I jumped into the series late in the game at ME2 and was fairly confused for not having played ME1 first.

ME3: I was so excited for this game, and I loved it. It was my favorite. While I am not a fan of the endings, I am now content with Destroy. The Citadel DLC made it even better for me; it was a perfect way to end Shepard's story.

ME 1 for story
ME 2 for gameplay
ME 3 for music and sounds in general

Now add all of it into the next generation Frostbite 2 "Mass Effect" game and we'll have a winner!

ME1 was great because it was the introduction. It had some problems like inventory management. I liked the Mako, but the sheer number of exploration missions that amounted to the same thing made it tedious. It was a great story though.

ME2 was awesome for the characters. The plot was a massive side quest, but it really felt epic. The final mission was one of the high points of the trilogy.

ME3 did a good job at improving the combat system. Cover based shooters aren't usually my favorite, but I think ME3 had the best combat system out of the three. There were also some truly epic moments in the game. Then you get to top it off with a romp through the Citadel with your old friends.

Me3. I love the multiplayer, loved the ctiadel dlc, liked leviathan and omega.

though the trilogy at this point has made me not care about other games...I seriously don't like anything else nearly as much as Mass Effect at this point.

ME3 had the best combat gameplay, the most options in terms of class builds (full weapon loadout customization, class powers, three evolutions per power, weight system, etc.), a surprisingly terrific multiplayer mode, and a crew that felt more alive and active. However, this came at the cost of some odd plot turns, the abandonment of exploration, and reduced dialogue choices. ME3 also leans heavily on the From Ashes, Extended Cut, Leviathan, and Citadel DLCs to supplement its narrative; ME1 and ME2 were great right out of the box.

I still like ME3 the best, however. Weird ending and all. What pushes it over the top for me is the impressive amount of tiny variations in dialogue and story that flow from the choices made in ME1 and ME2. I'm on my fifth playthrough of ME3, and I'm constantly finding new lines, new references to past choices—even ones that hinge on tiny details like who was in your party on Noveria in ME1 or whether you got Mordin to sing in ME2. Perhaps I put too much weight on that, but I can't help but appreciate the effort that went into making that happen. And if I count Citadel as part of ME3, well... that cinches it further.

I'm still irked over wanting a bit more lore for progression ingame, end up with an attack of the evil clones girlfriend and drunken stuper bash to 'fini' the series.. oh well.

They're all good and really about the same, give'r take what folks post about'em..but that friggen DLC middle fini..roils me.

end of rant...maybe.

ME3 if I ignore the endings...still too much space magic for my taste, but all three games are very close and make up my favourite gaming franchise by far.

Me3 just got a LOT better. Still gonna say :
ME2 >ME>ME3.
And yes me2 was a great story. Not tieing into the main arc is one thing...me2 was a great trip as a standalone tale though.

ME 2 and ME3 are almost tied for me.
I think I'll go with ME2, simply because it's fantastic character storylines.
I love ME1 with all my heart, but going back to it again, I realize that it feels kind of dated. Fantastic story, and a wonderful introduction to the ME universe, but it certainly feels aged now.

Mass Effect 2, it had a great cast of characters, and I much prefer the gameplay of Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 3's gameplay was too fast and was basically a spam fest with powers. Mass Effect 2's gameplay felt more tactical, and I had to really plan my battles out.

Even though Mass Effect 2 is my favorite of the trilogy I also feel it caused the most problems to the trilogy as a whole, which led to the many problems I have with Mass Effect 3.
