Ok, took me a couple of hours, but I'm finally able to answer this myself:

There used to be a bug in the original versions of DAO, making dagger damage 100% dependent on strength instead of the intended 50% strength + 50% dex. The pc version has been fixed, but the console versions are still the same.

This means a dual wield dagger build with max cunning is even better on consoles, due to the focus on 1 stat for it's damage.

Almost right. You got a 0.5 bonus from strength, but nothing from dex.

It's very viable on console. VERY viable.

Personally I'd go dwarven noble for selling to Gorim for loads of cash (and it's a great origin overall) and the 10% magic resist. If you have acces to the Edge it's an obvious choice from the start till the end of the game. (the Cashden Thaig Shanker interrupts spellcasting but for the rest it's not as good as the other daggers I'd say. I'ts usefull and maybe have it with you and put your dweomer runes there and equip it when fighting mages... most mages die anyway after stealth, dirty fighting, sweep, that 2 sting thing etc

If you solo and your ethics allow it ranger is a good choice.. ranger is a good choice anyway those beasties take agro and are just more targets for archers and mages and can draw attention too even in party play.
