Hi all, I know there are warrior archer guides around, but I couldn't really find one with comprehensive information that I need, so I have decided to ask here.

1) Is it okay for my Warrior Archer to equip only light armor?

2) Is it true dexterity boost the damage of bows, daggers and swords only? And by 1 pt.

3) Can I turn my Warrior Archer into a Berserker, are there any talents which does not work with ranged combat?

4) Is it a must for me to use Rapid Shot? I want to have Aimed Shot on all the time, and have a high crit-based build. Will my damage suffer?

5) Will I need points in cunning?

6) Does 2 rally buff stack?

7) Is my archer unaffected by mage weapon buffs?

8) Will a warrior archer deal as much damage as a rogue archer?

9) Lastly, are there any warrior talents that does not support ranged combat? I know rogue have got talents like Coup de Grace and Lethality which secretly does not help ranged.

Thanks!

1) Certainly, any class can wear ANY armor as long as they can meet the prerequisites for those armors ...
(Personally my mages never wear heavier than light armor really, because I just can't picture a mage with "heavier armor" on ...)

2) If you want Dex to boost damages of Daggers and Swords you need a mod (add-on) I believe ...

3) If your character is a warrior, then yes, if not warrior you will have to cheat and add the class via console ...

4) Depends on the situation really ... - There is no such thing as a "perfect" setup that will get you through each and every encounter, especially on Nightmare level, it also has to do with how your group is set up ...

5) Not for Archery ...

6) As far as I can see, nope, but if you aren't close enough, having melee with Rally, while having a ranged with Rally doesn't "hurt", however, I think it is a waste ...

7) No, mage weapon buffs will affect your archer also, but you may not see it ...

8) Depends on the stats ...

9) Read the descriptions ...

Last ... Why you would want to waste a Warrior's talents on archery is a little beyond me ... If nothing else for the sole purpose of "Role-Playing" ...

I just don't see the benefit of "wasting" the talent points (unless you cheat ? lol) on Archery with my warriors, when they help far more by utilizing their melee talents ... - Have your rogues do the archery, afterall you will need some good tanks to be up front when you try out the more harder play settings ...

Personally in my games, I use my rogues with archery (or mage, pending on the situation) to pull the enemies closer ... - Then charge them with my melee's ...

But each to his/hers own I guess :)

1) Why wouldn't it be? Warrior Talents do hint that using heavier armour will eventually be more beneficial however.

2)  Benefits of Dexterity

* Increases attack score in melee combat by 0.5 for each point purchased.
* Increases attack score in ranged combat by 1 for each point purchased.
* Increases damage from piercing weapons.
* Increases defense by 1 for each point purchased.
* Increases physical resistance by 0.5 for each point purchased.
* Prerequisite for some weapon talents.

Longbows use 50% of your str score and 50% of your dex score.

(Depends which version you're playing. PC version has the "dex bug" fixed.)

3) Of course you can. I think Berserk may work with bows, but I'm pretty sure Final Blow wont.

4) Rapid Shot talent stops you critting.

5) You would for a Rogue build.

6) I'm pretty sure they don't.

7) Melee only.

8) A Rogue can use combat stealth to generate critical hits. Warriors do have their own advantages though.

9) Lethality does work with bows. I think the descriptions are pretty vague for most skills, but if they're "melee only" they do usually say: http://dragonage.wik...Warrior_Talents

I'm no expert, but I've been playing a ranged base Warrior for a while so I'll answer what I can.

1) Is it okay for my Warrior Archer to equip only light armor?

I don't see any reason why you would want to. I don't know what you mean by "okay." It's okay for you to run around naked if you want to. I'd use medium armor until you get to Master Archer, and then start using heavy. Wade's Superior Dragonscale is a fine set, and you still get the set bonus if you mix in Evon The Great's Mail. I have a negative fatigue doing this and get some nice bonuses.

2) Is it true dexterity boost the damage of bows, daggers and swords only? And by 1 pt.

Dexterity doesn't boost the damage of swords at all as far as I know. It works 50/50 along with strength for both daggers and bows. Enough strength to wear armor and then boosting dex for damage/attack/defense is the way I've built my Warrior. Make sure you have the newest patch, though, or dex won't work.

3) Can I turn my Warrior Archer into a Berserker, are there any talents which does not work with ranged combat?

Berserk does not work without a melee weapon.

4) Is it a must for me to use Rapid Shot? I want to have Aimed Shot on all the time, and have a high crit-based build. Will my damage suffer?

I stopped using Rapid Shot as soon as I got a bow with Rapid Aim. Far Song is the best one I've found, but you have to let Owen die to get it. Making a crit based build is really hard since no stat adds to ranged crit and items that do aren't as plentiful as they are for melee crit.

5) Will I need points in cunning?
Just get 16 points (counting fade bonuses) for full Coercion line

6) Does 2 rally buff stack?
Yes

7) Is my archer unaffected by mage weapon buffs?

None of the "Weapons" buffs affect ranged weapons.

8) Will a warrior archer deal as much damage as a rogue archer?
Possibly, if they Stealth judiciously for instant crits. I like having Death Blow to keep firing off my shots. Disengage and War Cry to protect me in melee, etc.

9) Lastly, are there any warrior talents that does not support ranged combat? I know rogue have got talents like Coup de Grace and Lethality which secretly does not help ranged.

Lethality does help ranged damage as far as I know. Aside from the Berserker line there isn't anything I know off that shouldn't work when you use a bow. Maybe Threaten, but I don't know why you'd want to use that anyway. And of course nothing in any of the other weapon style lines.

Edit: Of course I'm way slow, but there it is.

Eh, some wrong answers being given here:

Rally buff does NOT stack with another Rally buff.

3) For Berserk, I was sure it worked with ranged weapons, if not, then does activating it with a melee weapon then switching to a bow work?

It may not be the most powerful class in the game, but it's still fun. You get a surprising amount of utility. With my archer I chose the Champion and Templar specs and your battlefield control is great with your special shots and other warrior talents. Shattering has an unmentioned knock down, and along with Stunning and Pinning you can you can help the main tank a lot while still doing a lot of damage. Warcry and Rally are just great additions to help protect your other ranged party members. Cleanse Aura can really be helpful, too. You also get more Stamina than a Rogue, and you should be using a lot of activated abilities on an archer.

It's basicly just added utility. A Rogue is probably going to do more damage with a bow if they micromanage their stealth well enough. It just comes down to personal choice, really. I had already played a DW Rogue, and I wanted something different. I don't regret making a ranged Warrior, it's been a lot of fun.

I was fairly certain that I saw my attack and defense going up when activating a second Rally, I'll check again. I know for certain that Berserk can not be activated when you aren't holding a melee weapon. And I'd assume it acts like any other sustainable that shuts it's self off when you switch to a non compliant weapon.

Edit: Well, I guess two Rallies don't stack, don't know what I was seeing before. Berserk acted a little strange. It does stay active if you switch from melee to ranged, but as soon as I went into the character screen and back out, it shut it's self off.

Just started a Rogue Archer. A warrior archer will be fine. Just pump STR and DEX. You actually get more like 0.3 damage per point of STR and DEX. You don't really need cunning if not going rogue. You will be able to wear heavy armor, just make sure you get master archer cause I think that negates penalties for heavy armor. Just have a backup set of melee weapons when enemies rush in. At least for me, no matter what taunting I do with my tanks, enemies still get up on you and you will want to cut them down. But shoot from range until that happens. Not sure what warrior talents go well with archer build, but from an attribute side go STR and DEX.

Warrior archers are quite fun to play... I have tried this twice now and the last was a multi-purpose warrior that dual wielded as well. More fun to play with if you ask me.

I would go for the best medium armor that I find until you get master archery when you switch to the best heavy armor that you find. And the one that I like best are Wades Superior set with the Evon heavy mail (since it seem you get the set bonus). This will make sure you can use plenty of skills and get a very good armor protection in the process.

If I go for a dual wielding archer then strength and dexterity should be equal up to about 40 and after this I would invest slightly more in strength than dexterity to increase the damage output from melee weapons slightly. If you go for only daggers in melee then you only need as much strength to equip the best armor and that is 38 strength for the best heavy armor.

I used my warrior as a mufti purpose fighter. She could be used both as an off tank and ranged dps, depending on the situation and need.

2 rally buffs are a really bad idea.
It breaks the game.
i tried it on my main and on alistar and reached 447 attack and 384 defence on my main.
But it is ok if you want to play godmode after a few battles with your main vs non mage/templars.

edit: 2 rally buffs are bugged.
1. they do not stack on your first character that casted rally.
2. the first character that cast rally has the rally bonus increase after each and every battle.
This is bad!!!

PS dispel works vs most buffs includeing alot of warrior and rogue buffs.
So in the exspansion buff based builds might not be so good.

Whoa there. So someone said dex doesn't boost the damage of swords?

So I 've been going the wrong route giving my dual-sword rogue high dex?

fieryeel. just use daggers instead.

they do get a damage increase.

damage on daggers are lower per hit, so use runes on your daggers or get some mage weapon buffs to help you out.

daggers with dualwielding is very good when you equip some runes and some poison.

some would say daggers trumph swords anyway so no big loss there. At least not if you are willing to swap weapons.

I am using double swords for RP purpose, as my rogue is a duelist.
