Quick question - in the PC version of the game, in the combat/power hud brought up with the shift key, there is a blank button located between the currently equipped weapon icon, and the character portrait, for each character. It can be clicked so that it looks to be turned 'on' or back to it's default appearance, but has no tooltip, and is not mentioned anywhere in the manual. I've done a search here and in google - does anyone know what this button actually does?
Also, if combat AI is switched off, is there a way of deciding which power is mapped to Q and E respectively, or does it remain the default power for that character?
Cheers.

You may have discovered something that I have failed to notice this whole time.
As for Q and E, there is no power mapped to it. The AI selects the "best" power out of the ones that the squad mate has for the target you select. However, there are many situations where it picks stupidly, and this also will never be a grenade power.

heh ^^ It's an OCD thing - I've been staring at that button on and off for the past 200-300 hours of play time, and it's been nagging the hell out of me.

Apologies, 'default' was probably the wrong word. I read something on one of my google searches whilst researching the weapon-lock button, that suggested that if combat AI was switched off, there was some way of selecting exactly what populated the slot. I guess not.
It's more accurate just to bind party member powers to the other buttons anyway - the amount of times I've got Liara or Javik killed trying to place a Biotic prep effect... Do hate the dual nature of the default Q and E buttons.
Anyway, cheers muchly.

If you want to quickly and reliably do combos, or just have the right power hit the target, you have to map them to quick slots.ninemil wrote...

Liara will hardly ever use Warp if you have Singularity and Stasis, which she will use needlessly on armored targets. EDI is good with Overload and Incinerate until you put any points in Decoy, at which point she will always put it up (Kasumi is likewise a decoy spammer, which is worse since she comes with points in Decoy that you can't get rid of).
