Platinum is the highest difficulty. If you don't use equipment on Platinum, then there's no point in having equipment.

You guys don't understand because most of you need to use consumables to get through the 11 waves. However, there are many other players that don't need it to get it done. I know this, because I do the same on a regular basis.

For me equipment is not mandatory. If someone joins my lobby but doesn't have any, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. However, it may also be a sign of a lack of commitment to the game. I'm never sure someone will use their gels or rockets freely if they already are stingy with equipment.

 I only play platinum and I never use equipment.  I actually never have.  I just don't need it.
