Not sure if anyone has posted this, but found this really interesting and instantly made me think of Mass Effect.
"Joe Landolina may have invented a cure for bleeding. He claims that his creation, a substance called Veti-Gel, jump-starts the clotting and healing process so quickly that even wounds to internal organs or major arteries are able to close up instantaneously. And Joe has accomplished all this by his third year of college at NYU."

Uh, no. Antibiotic gel or cream simply promotes long term healing in a slightly(ie days instead of weeks) healing with antibiotics to keep infection out. This Veti Gel actually is a clotting agent and stops bleeding almost immediatly. Very different.

I've read about that over 6 years ago in a german news magazine, when the following research article was published:
Nano hemostat solution: immediate hemostasis at the nanoscale
It's just an advanced and better liquid bandage.

Well, if the alternative is bleeding out right now (like that slab of pork in the video) then I'd take that risk. That's pretty damn awesome. But i would have a bit doubt using that...blood clots to your heart and things like that?
