Anyone got this yet? How good is it? Do you actually become a viable melee character, or more an awkward melee-caster? Compared to Shapeshifting, is this the better melee-mage?
Just wondering.

I've read that activating a shapeshift cancels all sustained spells, so I'm going to answer a tentative No on this one. Same problem with animated dead pets- you shift, they poof.

Is it worth stopping your leveling up at 7 to get AW like people used to do with jedification in KOTOR

Im mocking around Lower Ruins for couple hours, need to find blood vial to activate it.
I even stopped leveling just to be available to get it right now.
About shapeshifing, in form, you gain 2 new abilities (for spider its web-stun and poison-shot).
You cant even use potions in it. And youll be using tons of them

Posted this on another thread, so here it goes again:
I'm pretty sure that there are 2 seperate phylacteries in the lower ruins. One is a glass version, "very cold" around it. If you try to pick it up, it will break and out comes a tough fight. However, there is another one in the same level of the ruins. This one is located near a broken alter. The game mentions that there is room to place something on it when you examine it. On the ground there-abouts is another phylactery, and this one is described as having a gem filled with swirling blood. Pick it up, show your party and the members will all have something to say about it. Then, select the option to 'touch the gem' and you'll end up with a conversation with a long-dead spirit who's been in the gem for centuries. If you ask how you can help, the spirit will offer to teach you about being an Arcane Warrior (assuming you are a mage - I wasn't) if you will free it. Simply place the gem on the alter and follow the prompts to set the spirit free. Kazam! Arcane Warrior quest complete.
Hope this helps!

cool got him! I am arcane mage now.
thx alot.
So... hes wearing Blood Armor, and have turned on Stone Armor, Mage Armor, Telekinetic Weapons and Arcane Warrior thing (I play translated version so names are probably different).
{SPOLIER}
At the end of "Heart of Animal" quest, I decided to help wolves
So elf keeper summoned two demons, three trees and he himself started to cast.
All died in few seconds. Except the Mage. All the mob attacks did crappy damage and everything could be healed. I killed one, then another, then another etc. I dont cast battle spells, just autoattack and keep "Heal" ready. Gosh, he might become my main tank now.
END OF SPOILER

In that heart of the beast quest i had some big issues. I already became the arcane mage, and yes I love it! But it took me several tries to beat it. I also chose to help the cursed.
It seems that for me when the battle starts EVERYONE attacks me. The trees, the mage, the werewolves....the only thing I or member of my party hit was the mage. Eventually I got upset and turned the difficulty to easy and won, but I am wondering if everything is supposed to attack you or if I pissed someone off?

You did something silly Hardlyalthought, you have the following choices
help the elfs and screw the warewolfs
help the warewolfs and screw the elfs
or do the right thing and heal the wearwolfs
and end the curse in which the elfs come to
your aid.
im curious which option did you pick purge everything?

FYI - Agro or Hate is initially defined by armor type. Massive armor garners the most attention from monsters, and it goes down the list from there.
So if you are wearing better massive armor than your "tank", all the mobs will initially focus on you until they get hit.

i think that class type is prioritized higher than armor type, isn't it?

No, first thing the mobs are swarming is the NPC with highest armor rating .

Shouldn't monsters swarm lowest armor rating?

Arcane Mage is pretty good even though combat is a tad bit boring because he/she doesn't have any special combat abilities. If you select Arcane Warrior you'll be looking for armor that gives a bonus to willpower/stamina etc while not being too heavy on fatigue.
Massive Dragonbone armor is probably a no go, but they can wear it. You have to understand that the combat magic adds 50% fatigue and this probably totals your fatigue on massive dragonbone armor over 100%. Especially if you add extra sustained abilities (Rock Armor, Death Magic, Miasma, etc). This percentage is added to the casting requirements of spells, meaning you'll be able to cast less spells than normal. Stack up on Lyrium potions!
Also, keep in mind that the better Arcane Warrior talents are levelbased and thus wont be available until late game.

arcane mages are best if you know thats where you're heading from the start and prioritize your magic and mana levels from the start. once you have combat magic activated the other stats are irrelevant.
also, on agro, you can lead enemies to attack your tanks in heavy armor, but if you lay a lot of damage on an enemy or you are doing damage at a higher rate they will start to prioritize you- be careful no to ****** off big bad enemies with your rouges or mages unless you can finish them off before they attack you or unless your ally's can pull their attention back with a secondary attack.
