lillitheris started the original version of this list, and I thought it was a great idea. It was a wonderful resource for ME fans to use to find new stories that might appeal to them, and now that lillitheris cannot update it any longer, I've been sad to see it go without updates. I have decided to create a new version of the list that I can try to keep updated so that lill's original concept does not go to waste, because the idea was fantastic.

Submission Rules:

Feel free to add your own story or ones you like. You can offer additions as replies to this thread or as PMs. However, because I have numerous things demanding my attention in life, I must be a bit of a stickler for formatting. I'm not trying to be difficult, but I do not have time to hunt down information on the stories people want added to the list. For this reason, I will only add stories to the list that are formatted as follows:

Cortez

• "Between the Stars" (mShep/Cortez, MA) Unable to sleep at night, Shepard and Steve meet in the Shuttle Bay with no one else around. After a bit of teasing and laughs, they give in to each other.
• “Blackwork Tendrils: Pulling Up Anchor” by PestoMonkey: Steve/Kaidan (M, romance/hurt/comfort, short, completed). Steve Cortez had mourned his loss, but little did he know he would find love again when he least expected it. Oneshot companion to Blackwork.
• "Bloodkin" (FemShep/Cortez friendship, T, long) Shepard is injured during a mission - badly enough to need a blood transfusion. Turns out Cortez is the best match - and he offers willingly. After the treatment is finished, Earthborn Shepard can't help but wonder if that somehow makes makes Steve her only family, with the 'same blood' running in their veins.
• "Downtime" (mShep/Cortez, MA, long) Drinking with Dr. Chakwas reminds Shepard how lucky he is not only to survive this long but to find happiness with Steve as well. Shepard decides to not take one moment for granted, as Steve told him, and spend the rest of the downtime on making love with his man.
• "Falling Down the Mountainside" by mjules (mShep/Cortez, T) Cortez and Shepard have a quiet moment alone after recovering from the end events of Mass Effect 3. (Assumes certain choices and theories about the end of game.)
• "Inside James Vega’s Mind" by Kateryn (mShep/Cortez + Vega, T, short) Feelings of jealousy arise in Vega's head when Shepard and Steve start dating.
• "Lost Without You" by mjules (mShep/Cortez, T) There are still scattered husks roaming the streets of London when Steve Cortez sets out on foot, pistol strapped to his hip and assault rifle in his hand. He’s a pilot, not a soldier, and he doesn’t have Shepard’s terrifyingly impressive biotics, but there’s nowhere to set the shuttle down that close to the beam.

• "The Future's So Bright" (mShep/Cortez, T) After the war, Shepard takes the seat on the Council and has to deal with all the problems of the universe. But what he's worried about the most is that he doesn't have enough time for his husband.
• “The Peanut Butter Principle” by ElectricZ: Steve, Vega, Garrus (T, friendship/drama, short, completed). Morale on the ship is at an all-time low. Cortez is ready to throw down in the galley after Vega eats the last jar of peanut butter on the ship. Garrus steps in after realizing the jar represents something more than a petty disagreement.
• "The Talk" (mShep/Cortez + Vega, T) Vega sort of sees Esteban as his surrogate little brother, and Shepard as his hero/idol. And then the two of them get together. Now he's got to give the "that's my brother, you break his heart, I break you" speech to Shepard.
• "This is Love" by Stephanie (mShep/Cortez, M) Early in the morning, Steve prepares breakfast for Shepard and wants to get to work, but Shepard has something else on his mind which unexpectedly helps Steve say those 3 words he was holding back for so long.

EDI

• “Aura” by MrStoob: EDI, Samara (T, sci-fi/drama, short, completed). With some down time after the Collector base attack, Shepard receives instruction from Samara in a technique of the Justicar. Inspired by a friend on BSN and fellow writer, gearseffect.

Gabby Daniels

• “Gabby and Ken” by JoeLaTurkey: Gabby/Ken (T, romance/humor, long, completed). Will the Normandy's favourite double-act ever realise their potential as a couple? Let's find out.
• “A Matter of Race and Character” by Xeno Sapien: Gabby D/Ken D (T, romance/humour, on-going). Early 2183 - Before the Battle of the Citadel, Gabriella Daniels and Kenneth Donnelly were selected for the Interspecies Engineering Programme and transferred from the "SSV Perugia" to the Turian Hierarchy Vessel "Arcadias". A secret romance blossoms when a turian finds herself attracted to Kenneth. But their relationship becomes increasingly difficult to hide.

Garrus

• "A Fistful of Bullets" by Loethlin, FemShep/Garrus (M, Romance/Angst/Humor, one shot, complete). Shepard has a slight gun obsession, which has Garrus worried. This was recced in this thread before but never managed to be included in the list for some reason. I'm proud of it, I won an award for it, so I'm pimping it.
• “Applied Research” and “Timeline” by inthenightside: FShep/Garrus (M, romance, long, completed). Shepard is still new to her LI's culture and way of treating relationships and therefore gets some advice from another human-turian couple before applying that newfound knowledge in that tryst before the Omega 4 relay. “Timeline” ties in with time travel to First Contact War.
• “Awkwardness Thing” by Loethlin: FShep/Garrus (M, romance/humor, short, completed). Garrus witnesses Shepard cutting her hair and freaks out. Another Mass Effect Kink Meme fill.
• Beating Like a Hammer by skybound2: FShep/Garrus (M, romance/hurt/comfort, long, ongoing). Garrus doesn't know if she is real, or a hallucination, but when Shepard storms back into his life on Omega, he finds that he doesn't much care. He just knows that he's not letting her go again, not if he can help it.
• “Beginnings” by inthenightside: FShep/Garrus (M, romance, short, completed). FShep/Garrus during ME1, where interest between them was sparked early on.
• Breather by Progman: FShep/Garrus (T, Romance/Humor, Short, Ongoing). Compared to the horrors of the Reapers, fighting Cerberus is a welcome vacation. For the crew of the Normandy, at least. Shepard and Garrus haven't had much time to explore their relationship beyond the physical, so they're taking the vacations anywhere they can find them.
• "Bullet in the Brain" - Femshep/Garrus (M). Cerberus implanted more than just cybernetics into Garrus after he was hit by that missile. Warning: issues of consent.

The first is the email conversations between Shep and Garrus after they defeat Saren, the latter takes place during their Christmas shore leave spent together.

• “Invictus” by Fever Dream: FShep/Garrus (M, sci-fi/drama, long, completed). Jillian Shepard travels to Palaven in an attempt to convince the Primarchs of the Turian Hierarchy that the Reaper threat is real. However, after a PR disaster concerning her unconventional personal life, complications and cross-cultural conflicts arise.
• "Letters from the Brig" - Femshep/Garrus (M, romance, long). With help from the Shadow Broker, Shepard and Garrus exchange hand-written letters while she's locked up on Earth.
• “Made for You” by ReadHeadedViking: FShep/Garrus (M, romance/adventure, long, completed). This was supposed to be a one-shot detailing what happened between my FemShep and Garrus after the romance cutscene faded to black; however, they insisted that it be more.
• “Mass Effect: Interregnum” by The Naked Pen: Garrus (T, sci-fi/crime, long, ongoing). The fears of every slaver, murderer, gangster and all-around bastard on Omega have a name, and that name is Archangel. Shepard may be dead, but Garrus is still alive and kicking - and for the scum of the Terminus Systems, nobody is out of his reach.
• “Mass Effect: We Were Born to Die” by carilynn46: FShep/Garrus (T, romance/drama, long, completed). Was inspired by the ending of the RPG game Mass Effect 3. Instead of working against the ending, I tried to work with it. At first it was just going to be a short scene of the conclusion of the Destroy Good Ending (the current prologue) but then after some encouragement and listening to a song that not only inspired the title of my story but it also allowed me to continue. The song was Lana Del Rey - Born To Die , and it really made me think of Garrus and Shepard.

• One Night on Noveria by servantofclio: Garrus/Liara (T, adventure/romance, long, ongoing). A surprise attraction between two Normandy crewmembers develops into something more. Liara/Garrus; references to FemShep/Kaidan.

• "Second"- Garrus, Miranda, Tali, Jacob (M for language, Drama/Friendship) - With Shepard away on a mission, the squad begins to chafe under Miranda's command and plot to have Garrus replace her as XO. Garrus isn't sure mutiny is the answer.
• “Sense and Flexibility” by Roarkshop: FShep/Garrus (M, romance/friendship, long, ongoing). The story of Mass Effect developing the friendship, and eventually romance, Of Garrus V. and Femshep. Will cover Mass Effect 1, 2, 3, and after The Reapers. Updated Mondays!

In the chaos of the ongoing First Contact War, the Alliance is contacted by a group of captured humans on Palaven. Shepard is drafted for a covert mission to make contact. Her cover? Hackett

• "Mass Effect: Mercenary” by lursmani: MShep/Tali David/Lia'Vael (M, sci-fi/adventure/romance, long, ongoing). A Quarian girl (Lia'Vael) meets a former Alliance David Grayson, who seems to have a lot of connections with Shepard and other main characters in the game. David was an elite soldier serving in MADE - Multipurpose Assault Defence and Extraction, and an old friend of Shepard. There will be a lot of twists, secrets and I'll try not to mess with the main story of the series too much. ME2, 3 and after the red ending. Still in early stages, only 4 chapters finished, but I'll update it frequently.

He must figure out what he stands for and find the courage to fight for the ones he loves against a foe that will show no mercy.


• "Firebase Ghost": by feriwan: OC (T, sci-fi/adventure, short-ish, complete). A team consisting of a turian, an asari, a krogan and 2 humans are given a mission on Benning. It starts out horribly, but how will it turn out? Based on ME3 multiplayer.


• “Harvest” by Norwest: No main character (K, drama/friendship, short, completed). Oneshot: "Was this the first time a geth asked if it had a soul?" - "No. It was the first time a Creator became frightened when we asked."


• “Kat Like Thief” by Dr_Brilliant: OC Thane, son of MShep/Jack (M, drama/romance, long, ongoing). Son of famous war hero Commander Shepard and the biotic Jack, Thane Shepard has a lot to live up to. This is a coming of age drama/romance focusing on Thane as he attends a new biotic academy. Rated M for language and adult themes. Updates to come, mushy.


• “Loving the Alien” by QuantumSheep13: OC (M, sci-fi/adventure, long, completed). A turian mercenary is hired to find a mysterious package and is inadvertently dragged into a war between two rival organizations.


• “Mass Effect: A Fornax Production” by Mothbanquet: (Rated M - OC Only - Comedy - 3 chapters/20k words - Complete) Short OC comedy. Acerbic erotic movie director Jon Freeman is in a bit of a pickle. He is tasked with creating Call of Booty, the most ambitious and expensive porn flick in Fornax history. To do this he must contend with a moronic volus cameraman, a pompous turian actor and a hanar who cannot decide which tentacle to use. Can Freeman and his long-suffering elcor producer Xantar deliver the goods, or will they end up with their own private parts in orbit around Illium? Bawdy comedy with some strong language.


• “Mass Effect: Darkest Hour” by mikern: OC (T, sci-fi/adventure, short, ongoing). Lieutenant James Wolfe is having the worst day of his life when the world decides to end. His girlfriend refused to marry him, his mother has announced that she has an incurable form of Eezo infection and his sister’s mental condition is worsening. When the Reapers land in the city of Philadelphia, he joins the desperate and futile attempt to fight back.


• “Mass Effect: Digression” by Terror_K: OCs (M, sci-fi/adventure, long, completed). A quarian from The Migrant Fleet named Yalo'Pala nar Lerta goes out on his pilgrimage, intending to bring back a gift that will change the quarians forever. An original Mass Effect story surrounding original characters to avoid canon interference. i.e. no Shepard and co.


• “Mass Effect: Eternal Seas of Space and Time” by Toadette: OC (M, sci-fi/adventure/romance, long, ongoing). Mass Effect: Eternal Seas of Space and Time is narrated by Jennifer Fitzgerald, a freelance investigative journalist as she struggles to piece her life back together. Set in the Mass Effect universe in 2180 and 2181 Eternal Seas follows Fitzgerald as a controversial referendum on one of humanity’s far flung colonies propels her into a dangerous conspiracy that takes her from the Attican Traverse to her childhood home of Chicago and into the halls of power of humanity’s Systems Alliance. Alongside an asari elections observer and old flame Eternal Seas is the story of the storm on the horizon and how those under its sway might divide us.


• Mass Effect: Event Horizon by Drussius: OC/Zaeed (M, sci-fi/adventure, long, complete). Happenstance draws the crew of an asari cargo vessel and a band of mercenaries into a fight for their lives during the Reaper siege of Terra Nova. This story explores events occurring at the start of the Reaper invasion, and centers largely around original characters, though some cameos are included.


• “Mass Effect: Fallen Soldier” by Enigmat1c: OC (M, sci-fi/adventure, long, ongoing). Following the elimination of the Collector threat, a former Special Forces soldier in cryostasis for thirty-seven years is revived to join Commander Shepard's group and help combat the incoming Reaper invasion.


• “Mass Effect: Freelancers” by ftkerns: Lia’Vael, OCs (M, sci-fi, long, ongoing). A down-on-her-luck quarian on her Pilgrimage becomes desperate enough to sell herself into indentured servitude and is taken aboard the MSV Sulaco.


• “Mass Effect: Going Dark” by Severyx: OC Kevin Folner, mercenary (M, adventure/romance, long, completed). Kevin Folner, a hitman for hire, has had his ups and downs working as a merc. When he learns of a long thought 'dead' mass relay in deep space that has been reactivated by the geth, he and his salarian friends in the information business see credit signs all over it. The trip out will be long, but when the monotony of the deep space trek is broken by an out of place quarian emergency distress call, things take a very interesting turn. What lies beyond that previously inactive relay? Why have the geth taken to it so readily? Kevin aims to find out, and hopefully make enough credits while doing so to be set for life.However, one can never truly be prepared for the things found in the darkest places of the galaxy.


• “Mass Effect: Interceptor” by Mothbanquet: (Rated T - OC/Garrus - Espionage Thriller - 42 chapters/115k words - Complete) Six months before the events of Mass Effect, a crucial summit is due to be held between the human Systems Alliance and the Citadel Council. On this hallmark day, a young turian named Arlen Kryik is recuited into the Interceptors, a cadre of C-Sec agents responsible for apprehending futgitives throughout the galaxy. Partnered with veteran agent Garrus Vakarian as part of the summit's security detail, Arlen is quickly embroiled in a terrorist plot that will change the galaxy forever. Fast-paced thriller with some cross-species romance.


• "Mass Effect: Mercenary” by lursmani: MShep/Tali David/Lia'Vael (M, sci-fi/adventure/romance, long, ongoing). A Quarian girl (Lia'Vael) meets a former Alliance David Grayson, who seems to have a lot of connections with Shepard and other main characters in the game. David was an elite soldier serving in MADE - Multipurpose Assault Defence and Extraction, and an old friend of Shepard. There will be a lot of twists, secrets and I'll try not to mess with the main story of the series too much. ME2, 3 and after the red ending. Still in early stages, only 4 chapters finished, but I'll update it frequently.


• “Mass Effect: Terra Nova” by NickC: OC Richard Miller (T, sci-fi, short, completed?). This is the story of the first years of humanity after the discovery of the Prothean ruins on Mars. We will follow a young man named Richard "Richy" Miller one the very first extrasolar colonists and how he finds a new home on Terra Nova.


• “Mass Effect: The Unsung Sacrifices” by 3DoorsDownAndAwayFromTheSun: OC, Anderson (M, adventure/angst, short, completed). This is the tale of a squad in the 36th brigade. This is the story of Alliance soldiers as they face the horrors only a war with the Reapers can bring. These are the heroes whose names are never sung.


• “Mass Effect: Vengeance” by DKDiamantes: OC Aida (T, sci-fi/tragedy, short, ongoing). Aida is the son of a once famous Turian during the First Contact War. Aida deeply loved and respected everything his father did and had no greater hope than to one day live up to his family name of Vinoir. But all that changed when the Humans made their presence on the Universe felt, all of Aida's dreams and hopes changed when the Humans took the most precious part of Aida's life.


• “Mass Effect 3: The Last Stand” by Ryuu814: OC (T, adventure, long, completed). We all knew the Reapers were coming but when the invasion started, none of us were prepared for it. 7 Chapters looking into one Special forces soldiers' fight for survival.


• “Ship of Theseus” by chapa3: OC, Ashley (M, sci-fi/drama, long, ongoing). Set 5 years after the events of ME3, alternate ending. Spectres Anatoly Ilyushin and Ashley Williams hunt for notorious terrorist Balak. Cutting through lies and scandals, the two uncover a truth that could easily spark a galactic war. Cyberpunk themed.


• “Silent Echoes” by Dark Satris: OC (M, sci-fi/adventure, short, ongoing). Satris Rhakhaza is a bioticly gifted Alliance soldier, with an N7 rating. He is also one of the first Slayers ever. Follow the adventures of him and his Spec-ops team, Echo Squad, nicknamed The Silent Echoes, throughout the Reaper wars, and discover items of their pasts, their lives, and the tight bond that holds them all together.


• Smoke and Mirrorsby SergeantSnookie: Original Characters (T, mystery/adventure, long (will be, at least), ongoing.) A Turian Spectre is dispatched to a human colony, in what seems like an everyday Batarian raid. However, what he discovers is a conspiracy that propels him into a journey to stop someone he always thought he could trust, and commit atrocities he swore to stop.


• “Synthesis for Little Laura” by Meteoric Test: OC/Zaeed (M, sci-fi/family, complete). An alliance soldier flees his post during the pinnacle of the Reaper/Earth conflict in a desperate attempt to ensure the survival of his sister Laura. Will he succeed? Entirely new/original characters.


• “The Fall of Khar'shan” by Aaron Baba: OCs Korrak and Mannovai (T, adventure/suspense/action, multipart, ongoing). Taking place about a week before the opening scenes of Mass Effect 3; the story follows Korrak, a member of the Batarian Hegemony's Special Intervention Unit. The science team leading research into the Leviathan of Dis, a great and powerful alien artifact, has gone dark. Now, Korrak has been tasked with recovering them…alone. Korrak must struggle with vague mission parameters, his feelings for the Hegemony, an unexpected ally, and voices creeping at the back of his mind.

In 2157, the Turian Hierarchy shocked the Council species by commencing a sudden and illegal war against a new race, known only as 'Humans'. This is the story of Shanxi's 3rd Garrison Division, and their fight for survival, and freedom. First Contact War.


• “Transcendent Humanity” by Solaris242: (K, Sci-Fi, AU, ongoing) Humanity never developed FTL. The Prothean archives contained no technology, no Element Zero, just a warning. Isolated from the rest of the galaxy for two thousand years, restricted to their only system, how will humanity have changed when they first meet the Turians? AU, alternate history of humanity and First Contact.
