I have "issues" with some of the dwarves using such English-sounding swear words. Every time Ogren says "sodding" I wince a bit :D Hadn't noticed the curator though!

I found that rather irritating, although I think it was partly to do with the fact that they seemed not to know the appropriate use of the word. I mean, I am aware that 'sodding' is used as an adjective, I use it quite frequently myself in fact, but they seem to use it in places where a sodding is just unnecessary.

Go for it. I had a whole load of English patriotism going in the other British=Humans thread and it was great fun.

Wait a minute, when did that happen? The British are human? I thought everyone knew that the British were cleverly disguised aliens from Sirius 4. Or is it Rigel 4? I can never remember.......

It does seem to be every second word out of their mouth, yes :D

And maybe idle chatter from serious political discussion...? These are musings, nothing more.
I dunno. If it bothers you just...um, er, close your eyes! Yes! Nothing to see here, move along!

@FlintlockJazz:  Yeah - and it's bad enough when these messages are supposed to be in there.  It's even worse when you get someone else injecting their own messages into something.  I was reading a preview of The Book Of Eli (trivia - this was written by Gary Whitta of PCGamer US and PCGamer Podcast fame), and the writer of this article had basically decided that every single Denzel Washington film was about God, and then went through some serious logical acrobatics to back that statement up.  I mean, Training Day and Crimson Tide?  If you went and found the people working on those films, and asked them if they were making films about religion, what would be the reaction?

I reckon that the guy writing this nonsense was Christian and was very happy being Christian (nothing wrong with that), and thought that everyone else should be Christian too, and thought telling people that Denzel Washington wanted them to be Christian would help.  Personally, I'm not Christian, I'm quite happy not being Christian and would rather he just got on with his job rather than trying to convert me.

Maybe it's just that half the stuff out there is pushing the message that the British are evil and we should all feel terribly guilty for being British (yes I am British).

Yeah, I like my reviews to be about the actual film/game/book/whatever it is they are reviewing and to be unbiased, which I know is hard considering that the reviewer is only human but as long as they try I don't mind.

And as for Brits being evil, the others are just jealous that us Brits can be so good at being evil! ;)

Are you calling us Irish pointy eared? ಠ_ಠ

In terms of nationality, Elves are clearly Welsh. No question about it, I mean, a race that excel’s in archery. Welsh Longbow men put the fear into English hearts.

This can not be the case. No where in the game are sheep mentioned in an elvish context.

So then who do the Darkspawn represent?

Rampaging hordes that spread fear, violence, and blight wherever they go..

I dunno. The Dalish happen to be too close to those Halla.

(Ferelden is) … clearly based on a European style continent.

Uhhh… what?

What exactly is a "European style continent" supposed to be? Which particular part of European geography do you imagine bears any resemblance at all to Ferelden? Or to any part of Thedas? Do you base this assumption on the fact that they both contain land, with some watery bits around the edges?

Don't be ridiculous. It's not "clearly" based on anything.

If — and this is a big if — IF BioWare based Thedas/Ferelden on any part of the real world, the closest match for physical outline and terrain would be North America. Just look at the two maps together…

And despite the moderate resemblance, I would still say it's a coincidence. Claiming that Thedas/Ferelden is "based on" anything in the real world is just as absurd as claiming that the Elves represent Irish-Jewish-Indians.

They mean in terms of culture and climate.  The shape of the land has got nothing to do with it, its the fauna and flora and the societies that define it as such.

Nope, I base it on the assumption that Fereldens have English accents, the Orlesians have French, and the Antivans have Italian. And also just because everybody else seems perfectly happy to think of Ferelden as England, so.

I think they were talking about it in a more, inspirational sense rather than geographical sense.

And really? Italian, I’ve always thought of the Antivans being more ‘Iberian’ like than Italian. Though Antiva is obviously the games Venice.

Ha, actually no, not really :D I spend most of my Zev conversations with my brow furrowed, trying to place him... you may well be right with Iberian.

Edit: This is silly. I apologise, I lost my temper unnecessarily, which I don't usually do. I don't know what happened. Anyway, it was my fault, I threw the first insult. I didn't mean to offend, however.
