So I was messing around with a trainer to see how I'd set up my character (new mage/AW) but I saved over my progress after editing it....After having over 200 save games with my first character I decided not to save so often with my new mage and it hasn't payed off haha.

I've seen vague explanations in crude English to describe the basics of it, but was wondering if anyone could give me any details as to how it works.

I know this post will probably go unanswered, so in the meantime I guess I'll have to start the game over...

I need a few more details to be sure what exactly you're trying to do.

When you say you saved over your progress, what do you mean?  Do you mean you saved over the progress through the campaign, and you now have to redo quests and such, or do you mean that you saved over the character settings you were trying?

If you have lost your progress through the game, that's a little tricky to put back.  If you've just lost your character build, then that's easy to remedy with the use of console commands.  Go to the game's unofficial wiki, and look up enabling the console.  That shows you all you need to know to add any talents/skills you want to your character.

As for going through the game, you can load debuggers with the console, but I'm not sure if all the proper plot flags will end up set correctly if you use those.

I saved the edited character over my legit game save by mistake. It's okay I'll have a poke around the toolset and see if I can figure out what needs to be changed. It's probably easier than I think it will be. If not I'll just reload an old saved game or remake my character and remember to be more careful with my save slots in future :P

So you lost your in-game progress?

I've opened a save game in the toolset before, and I don't think you're going to be able to do what you want easily.

There are so many variables that get set differently depending on the choices your character makes.

For all the things you would need to change, it might just be quicker to replay the game rather than wade through all the plot flags, figuring out which ones you need to set.
