Geth Spitfire only has 600 RPM(not 800) when ramped up, DPS is 25% less than expected

After some discussion, Lord_Sirian convinced me that the listed numbers for the Spitfire may not be correct (67.3 damage per shot, 800 RPM).  The damage numbers held up for my Spitfire I (53.8 damage, as expected), but the RoF did not.  As a crude test, I recorded a clip of me firing a Spitfire clip into a wall.  Looking at it frame by frame, I found that the Spitfire consistently took 10 seconds to fire 100 shots (after it has ramped up), for a fire rate of 600 RPM.  This was tested on Bronze, so no time speedup.

Assuming this to be correct, this drastically lowers the Spitfire's DPS.  This is a straight 25% DPS reduction.  At X, it would have a burst DPS (all that matters with its clip size) of 673. Against Shields/Barriers, the multiplier gets it up to 1177.75.

By comparison, the Typhoon X has a DPS of 832.5, but multipliers to all protections that give it 1248.75 DPS to all protections.  The PPR is less comparable (much longer charge up, worse ammo system, pinpoint accuracy), but a PPR X has a DPS of 1376 to all enemy health.

A 10% damage increase will increase the DPS to 740.3, and 1295.5 to Shields/Barriers.  In my opinion, this is not nearly enough for a weapon that slows you down while weighing so much, and has the annoying side-to-side recoil of the Revenant.

Bioware massive buff please?

More definitive proof here

Yeah, if you are set for this 10% dmg buff, please buff the RoF to 900...

And thank you, tyhw, for further convincing me that this gun is total garbage.

Well it won't suffer from that ammo wastage bug at 600RPM.

Fagnan bases his opinions on weapons purely on numbers, and the numbers he looks at are wrong half the time...

In light of this info, if the RoF was bumped up to 800 RPM, and the 10% damage boost was given, I think the Spitfire might become a reasonably good weapon.

This would give it DPS at X of 987.1 when ramped, and 1727.4 against Shields/Barriers. Compared to a Typhoon, it would do 79% of the Typhoon's DPS to Armor, 18.6% more to health, and 38% more to Shields/Barriers.

This would be a reasonable trade-off for the weight and movement speed, to me. Though I think I would still prefer the Typhoon. It's additional clip size, to me, doesn't count for much since the typhoon can one-clip most anything anyway, and the spare ammo doesn't do a whole lot for me either.

should also test with TC bonus duration (2.5 seconds) ... or ammo pack (10 seconds) ...

Well that goes a long ways towards explaining why people feel it is substandard.

When I originally saw what damage it could do per round I didn't think it would be that bad. But at 600 RPM that is highly disappointing.

It's even more disappointing to know that a weapon with a Gatling design has a lower RPM than the light machine guns.

Honestly, neither the typhoon nor spitfire do appropriate damage in my opinion. For weapons of that size/caliber, especially considering the extra slow down of the spitfire, they should do massive damage, per bullet. The point of lugging a giant machine gun around is that it would be big and heavy for a reason: it shoots big heavy rounds; 50 cal rounds; Big ****ing sniper rifle bullets but at full auto. The spitfire should be quickly melting enemies away on any difficulty.

This might help explain why Bioware thinks the Spitfire is a good weapon already and only needs a 10% damage buff to make it truly worthy of ultra-rare.
Currently the weapon has so many drawbacks that I can't ever see myself using it. It's main plus point is having so much spare ammo, but ammo isn't exactly hard to come by in this game.

I wish they could give it the Hurricane treatment and have it fire 2 rounds per shot. It's ROF doesn't really take advantage of that massive clip, and I never use EM on it. If it were firing 2 rounds per shot, it would be a beast.

Well that explains the disparity between what I saw on the weapon spreadsheet and how awful it seemed in game. That planned 10% damage boost isn't going to be nearly enough of an improvement if this is correct.

I am disappointed.

Yeah, it was a  crude test.  But when I got the results I did, I figured I should let people know.  This isn't a definitive test.

Doesn't the ROF increase from devastator mode (the highest i think) help a bit?

That's where the multiplicative Geth weapon bonus would further help it on Geth kits.

But this is very disappointing.
