Proper boss chaingun, old painless. If it can do that I don't care that it weights as much a Krogan and has all it's other drawbacks.

I find it hilarious that the Revenant has 28% higher dps when both are at X, no movement speed penalty, weighs half as much, and is a rare weapon.
The spitfire should have had at least 10% higher dps than the Revenant at level 1 if it's going to weigh that much and give such a penalty to movement speed, and it should top out somewhere close to 30% higher in terms of dps.

actually, revenant has a movement penalty, but anyway: BUMP!

Revenant has a movement penalty while firing, the Spitfire has a movement penalty while you're wielding it.

And just pointing out: A Geth Spitfire X deals less damage per second than an M-7 Lancer I. It can sustain the damage better, but the Lancer will generally kill a target before it becomes an issue. The spitfire is just slightly less than twice the weight of the Lancer.

I cannot emphasize enough how serious the Spitfire's slowdown penalty is, especially on a gun with a ramp up time. It practically locks you in place, making you vastly more susceptible to incoming damage.

In order to be competitive with the Typhoon, Lancer, and Particle Rifle, it would need to have a simple DPS around 1,000 when fully ramped up, so that it could be used to rapidly eliminate foot soldiers on Gold and Platinum. Either a 50% damage buff at its current rate of fire, or a 12% damage buff at 800rpm would probably do the trick.

Shame, really. Since I think the gun is actually really well designed. It'd be a lot of fun to use if the damage output were just worth its weight. Heck, if it did solid damage it'd really be worth using on the Geth Juggernaut, despite cutting into its cooldowns so much.

I suppose DPS less than 1K would be perfectly viable (800rpm with a 10% damage buff). I just feel that.. with the severity of that slowdown effect just for carrying the thing, the gun needs more than just a large magazine.

It just needs to be carefully considered I guess. Using the thing you kind of expect it to dish out damage like those mounted turrets during the single player campaign.

Let's stick with things that can be changed through balance updates first.

Although I'm not sure if the shaking can be changed that way, the flashing would need a patch. Considering their stance on the eye strain people have reported with hunter mode, that too will most likely never be changed.

2 rounds per shot would go a long way toward making this puppy usable. I guess it's a good applicator of ammo effects (that clip can fire forever) but damage is lacking. If that clip were half the size but did double the damage, I'd be much happier. It's ROF seems lower than the typhoon at ramp up, which is odd as it has almost double the clip size and less damage per shot.
