Geth Spitfire only has 600 RPM(not 800) when ramped up, DPS is 25% less than expected

I think it would be in everyone's best interest if you did.

I knew the spitfire was bad, and that it did not seem to consume ammo as fast as it should, but this is ridiculous. Thanks OP. Even MORE reason to never ever take this gun over my `phoon/PPR/pretty much anything.

Guess I should explain the 800 RPM thing.

When datamining the numbers for this gun I saw 3 values for RPM: 250, 600, and 800.

I knew 250 was the min rate of fire, which just left the other 2. The problem with taking what was set as the gun's RoF(600) is that it has frequently been wrong with ramp up weapons in the past, so I opted to take what was being shown in the stat bar instead, which was 800 RPM(stat bar values are typically calculated to show the highest value the stat can achieve). I noted in the weapon's sheet thread that it may be wrong and needed testing once I got the gun(which I still don't have).

I'm not sure if BioWare intended for the gun to have 600 or 800 RPM. The spreadsheet was updated as soon as I saw this thread yesterday, though.

Thanks, Cyonan, your update is appreciated. It does paint the Spitfire in an ugly light, though.

I hope some BioWare devs still lurk in the forums on weekends, and hopefully we get a word from Eric. The Spitfire cannot be ignored!

So we got an UR, that slows us down 30%, that weighs 3.0, that is slightly more accurate than the revenant.... and that deals less BURST DPS than the revenant deals SUSTAINED dps....

Bioware, why?

Don't you see Bioware? Look at the harrier! Low clip capacity and low ammo does not "balance" a gun; loads of people still use the harrier even though it has really low ammo. AND HIGH CLIP CAPACITY AND AMMO ISN'T A "BONUS" when the f*cking gun does less damage to armour than the revenant...

:pinched:

A gun's accuracy, fire rate, damage, modifiers are what should be used to balance it, not its ammo reserve and clip size...

The rate of fire thing has to be a bug.

I thought this thing was supposed to ramp up and consume twice as much ammo per shot (like the Typhoon).... at least, that would make sense given its ridiculously low damage numbers.

Mine's at level 8, I tried using it w the engi for the increased RoF and accuracy from hunter mode. I got into a pug match on giant and I spammed the gun from extraction end of the map.
It was still absolutely horrible. The "damage per SECOND" with this gun is severely lacking on platinum.

Seriously felt like a regular geth assualt rifle, except with a really big clip.

Just finished Citadel DLC.

Why doesn't MP Spitfire function like the one in SP? I think even the RoF is higher.

I think that's the problem. Devs are going off the SP stats which don't and can't accurately reflect the way it works in MP.

Ran a test with it. The results were quite telling.

When used by most classes, the Spitfire just isn't very good. Depending on how you roll, the Spitfire is outclassed by the Collector Rifle on many classes (due to no spin-up, quick reload, and no movement penalties), the Revenant (better damage overall, no spin up, no movement penalty, but worse accuracy), and perhaps most-surprisingly, the Geth Pulse Rifle, due to accuracy, Fire Rate, and Headshot Multiplier.

It also loses to the Mattock and Vindicator, which is just sad.

When compared to the heavies of the Rifle class, like the Argus, it doesn't even compare. The Argus and Saber, for example, not only curb-stomp its DPS, but do better alpha strike damage and have better range. About the only rifle the Spitfire lords over is the Adas.
