So I might as well post my own soldier build for the hell of it and for anyone who wants to try it.
The entire purpose of this build is to cause as much FE's as possible and mop up the survivors with DPS.
For the record, I've tested this build against all enemys on Insanity with all debuffs on and it works great.
Now first we'll get your gear.
Weapon: Typhoon. 1m Penetration, Multipiler vs Defenses and High capacity.
Mods: Extended barrel and Extended magazine.
Armour: Go for either weapon damage or shield strentgh.
You'll be getting right up in the enemy's face, so the recoil shouldn't hurt you.
The reason the Typhoon is preferred is because of the great synergy between it and Adreniline rush.
You should only stop firing when the enemy is dead.
Powers:
Adreniline rush: Damage and Dilation / Duration / Power use.
Concussive shot: Mainly down to preference, but you must take amplification on rank 6.
Frag grenade: Damage / Capacity / Shield damage.
Inferno ammo: Damage / Headshot damage / Explosive burst.
Passives: Spec for weapon damage and headshot damage.
Fitness: Health / Recharge / Health.
Now here's the tactics. Start the typhoon firing until your ramped up, then pop AR and close the distance.
Use the Typhoon or squadmates to take down Shields/barriers and prime the enemy for a FE.
Now detonate with concussive shot, prime again if still alive then detonate with frags.
For single targets, CS -> CS will set off an FE.
Frag's will detonate and can be used when in CD, so you can keep up constant FE's.
Atlases will fall so fast to the typhoon that it won't be worth it to FE it. Remeber to shoot the section where the glass canopy meets the frame to exploit the triple hit bug.
You don't want to be in Sync kill range of Banshees, Phantoms etc.
Also use the Typhoons cover penetration to safely take out turrets.
Bonus power:
There's 3 good choices here.
1. Fortification: Damage reduction / recharge / Damage reduction.
This is just a nice bonus to make it easier to close the distance and maintain that extra few seconds of fire.
2. Energy drain.
Recharges your shields while draining the enemy's. Perfect for this build, though I don't use it because It doesen't feel right on a soldier.
3. Inferno grenade.
AoE primer. I would recommend this one the least as it eats into Frag's, but it's still very useful for priming large amounts of enemys.
Squad:
You want two things out of your squad:
1. Shield stripping.
2. FE Priming.
Anyone with Inferno grenade, Overload, Energy drain, Inferno ammo is good.
Equip them with either an Adas or Acolyte and have them focus on shielded targets.
FE's everywhere with this build, have fun.

Some thoughts...
You don't lose much, if any damage, going the Squad evolution on IA, since they can prime extra targets and will be getting explosive bursts on their own. It sort of depends on if you want to take Vega and have him run squad. Something to consider.
I would have recommended Proximity Mine as an option. It will detonate FE's as well, and will area debuff. Use under Adrenaline Rush to bypass cooldown. With Typhoon I might tend towards Fortification since it has ramp up and is a sustained fire weapon.
As for Inferno Grenades... they don't exactly eat into your Frags. The total grenade capacity should be shared. So while it is true that if you use an Inferno Grenade that is one less Frag you could use, you should have more total grenades anyway. Also, area target priming is good. As is priming shielded targets for fire explosions. And if the Infernos are now at MP stats, then they are better overall than Frags.
