and here I thought the Citadel DLC was the mehem via bioware? It was done to appease the destroy crowd. Give them closure and a lot to drink...

Critcal mission failure.
You ran out of Clones.

Nah, seriously: "my" Shepard is the real one that barely survived the Destruction Ending. I can live with that. No more clones, no more cheap excuses.

The MEHEM is optional. It's neither an official DLC nor is it a requirement to finish the game. It's just one mod to give a more positive ending, removing the controversial parts (star child, blue-green-red-decision, ...) - something a large part of the community was asking for. Since BW doesn't want to change their idea of a good ending, except adding some more slides, a modding team is working at it.
Can't see anything wrong with that.

maybe we are a bit more sensitised because of our her®itage. the decision chamber literally shouts "endlösung" - disgusting.

Yeah, but how can people not SEE this? It's just beyond me...

see my edit .. different cultural backgrounds and educations. we see it, because we live with this background every day. i cant walk to the rail station, without passing by several "tripping stones".

Wow. I had never heard of Stolpersteins before. A quick read and I'm amazed these exist. I'm a fan of history and having German heritage I take special interest in all things German and I have to admit these are kind of amazing.

the reason i have to walk by those reminders is, that some *insert randon rant here* thought A, B, and C were good ideas ..and the rest ignored the injustice or was too afraid to stand up. people should listen to their grandparents.
my grand and great grand parents lived during very dark times. my family members were active social democrats and my great grandfather was considered "unworthy life". my familiy knows first hand what happenes, if your basic rights are taken away.

Far too many people don't know about the Russian atrocities in east Germany that wee inflicted upon innocents. It was a very bad time for all involved, and is very powerful to hear a personal testament.

All MEHEM does, really, is eliminate a poorly written exposition dump that either shouldn't have exisited, or, should have been an actual part of the narrative.

Now if some modder could just make an Indoctrination Theory mod, that's a mod I would actually buy.  Technically they couldn't sell it, but I'd donate something fierce.  The introduced-at-the-last-second starchild AI being an induced hallucination would make so much more sense to the narrative of Sherpard's degrading psyche, but I guess the expense of creative writing classes would anger the shareholders.

The whole reason why so many hate the endings, is not the fact that it's sad. It's rather because there's no reason you should make the choices. The Catalyst is telling you to fix a nonexistent problem. You can turn it around and say "I'll choose synthesis, because the Catalyst is a perfect example of how it can go wrong when people make AIs that rebel against their creators because they don't think like organics and so on" but WHY is everything so suddently all about this theme anyway? There is no indication of this being the main issue in Mass Effect before you reach the final conversation in the game.

From the very beginning of this whole debacle, I've been completely stumped by the fact that the developers flat-out told us we weren't going to get a "parades and confetti" picture-perfect happy ending, that it was going to be bitter sweet...

And yet they were surprised when there wasn't an option to have a picture-perfect happy ending...

Synthesis is the happy ending they gave us unfortunately, or maybe control. But they made sure destroy wasn't happy at all by killing EDI and the Geth. But now that I am doing my second play through I can pretty much confirm to myself that Destroy is the right choice. The game clearly states a lot, by plenty of characters, that we can't save them all. And in the end, Edi and the geth are synthethic, they will never be organic. I know that all the effort on Rannoch sort of becomes pointless because of the ending. But they are still robots and I have to deal with that. I also feel cheating by putting a mod, because it just doesn't feel official. It's a shame, they should have at least shown EDI talking on the ship, in the extended cut but no, they put her name there sadly.

Shepard having a reunion/being found isn't a perfect ending. How hard is that to understand. MEHEM even acknowldges this by having Shepard put up Anderson's name. It didn't end perfectly or gracefully, but for those left alive, INCLUDING Shepard, life moves forward and that should have been shown for the entire crew.

Even with a more clear evidence Shepard survived ME3 (Destruction) and a reunion with his/her beloved ones, it weren't a super-sugar-happy-ending. 'cause you have to sacrifice EDI and the Geth, Anderson died, along with billions.

Super-happy-ending means none of all that stuff, or, let's say, minus EDI/Geth/Anderson-dead. The billions have died already.

Thing is: I don't believe "Synthesis" is a really happy ending. And no, I won't pull the joke with that husk that finds out it is ugly like hell and can't ever find love, but has to live thanks to Shepard who took the green pill

Out of three awful options, "Destroy" is the best one. It's the one NOT betraying Shepard and his/her friends who died (or barely survived) this ride. Seriously. Even EDI would hit the Destruction body. Even Legion would do. Everyone! Well, maybe Mordin is an exception. B)
