Yeah, EDI is one of the best characters in the series. I will never betray her or my Geth allies.

Destroying the reapers isn't worth killing all synthetic life. Simply put, if you are willing to commit genocide for your goals, then you are no better than a Reaper or the Catalyst. It shows the same kind of callous lack of appreciation for life that the catalyst and reapers show by using their solution.
They think their solution is okay because it serves their goal even if it means they inflict death and suffering on people. Destroyer's think the death and suffering they inflict is worth it to reach their goal. Both are wrong.

I am better than the Reapers, I don't use their tactics or share their beliefs.

I like both destroy and control. But I don't see why we couldn't rebuild the geth and EDI, they're machines they can't die. I'm sure both EDI and the geth had some sort of backup program.

very likely, in the EC Hackett does say they can rebuild "everything" that was lost

A point that cannot be stressed enough.
Anything created can be recreated?

Refuse and not purchase Arrival then?

Meh, disregard Catalyst and Crucible not being able to specifically target just Reapers, use MEHEM, have a better ending.

Picking control makes me feel like I'm being a villain, simply because everything before the last 10 minutes of the game tells me that the concept of controlling the reapers is mere psychobabble. Synthesis is just bizarre, leaving me with Destroy.

Citadel DLC did make me like EDI a lot more, but it's still a justifiable sacrifice in my eyes. Destroy them or they destroy us.

Still picked destroy. Seeing as I'm head-canoning the end anyway I just imagine that spacebrat lied about the bit where it takes out EDI and the Geth.

Love the Geth and EDI! Will still always use Destroy! I have spent two games telling Saren and TMI that they are wrong both on Paragon and Renegade and I'm not gonna change cause an AI tells me. Everything can be rebuilt! Hackett says that exact quote in Destroy EC, so they can all be rebuilt!

I like EDI and the Geth, but it isn't worth the destruction of free will for all beings in the galaxy.

I still find all endings more or less equally repugnant, feeling that even destroy is the equivalent of the Joker pressing a gun into Batman's hand and going: "Come on, come on, kill me! You know you want it!" Batman could do it, and it would be a realistic solution to the Joker-problem, but in storytelling terms, it'd mean that the Joker wins and Batman loses.

This point is established even more poignantly after the EC revealed that the Catalyst has total control over the situation, and can shut down the ending options at any moment. (Which makes it all the more bizarre that destroy is even an option, while an ineffectual shot at a hologram can trigger the apocalypse. But whatever...)

If EDI and the Geth had been willing to sacrifice themselves there wouldn't be any contest for most people on which ending to pick, would there? I think what turns most people off is Shepard picking their fate for them, just after they win their right to exist among the organics as equals.
Isn't it ironic how Destroying Synthetics is the solution to the Reaper threat against the organic species, while the purpose of the reapers is to be the solution to the conflict of organics and synthetics, which it accomplishes by destroying organics. Who knows what future conflicts or consequences will erupt from this Destroy event?

Artificial life the equal of organic life? LOL

I picked destroy because I wanted to break free from the Reapers. Both Mordin and Legion said that civilizations have to evolve on their own terms, which is something the Reapers want to avoid. If you choose control, you take their technology, blinding yourself to the alternatives, which is what the Reapers have wanted all along.

I don't see killing a race of synthetics as genocide because they are not alive. They may be programmed to pass the Turing test with flying colors, but in the end, they're still tools.

I still picked destroy because other choices have too many possibilities for reapers to get free. It was the only way for a total freedom from their influence.

This is probably what a race of hyper-advanced synthetics think of humans and turians. its not a big deal because they are just meatbags that we can regrow a new crop of.

Not valuing life doesn't make it any more acceptable to take.

I haven't played Citadel ( and after seeing it on Youtube don't intend to...the sims in space LOL)
But in the end after Speaking to Casper instead of pausing it I tried killing Ghost kid since that was the only viable option imo...

As always, it depends on the Shepard I'm playing. If getting the mission done is the number one priority, sacrifices will be made, no matter the feels. EDI was cool, but if her death can save billions, so be it.

I still pick Control most of the time, but it's hard to deny that picking THAT was not what you was sent there to do. I still consider this to be the happiest ending though. Sure, saying that TIM was right after all may be a moral loss for your Shepard, but considering that you end up saving everything with minimal losses, I say it's worth it.

Synthesis... is alright. It does feel a bit weird changing everything like that, and the Reapers still have their free will, though they've stopped with the whole harvesting thing.

The Reapers do value life. That's why they want to preserve it in Reaper form.

So what you're saying is that you value the preservation of life less than the Reapers? Grats, you're a monster.

I love EDI, but I still pick Destroy without a second thought.

I just hope that they can rebuild her and the Geth somehow. I hope.

If this were possible, why wouldn't the Geth have restored Legion? They were on a planet that housed thousands Geth, had entire Geth facilities and servers established. If it were possible, it would have been possible on Rannoch.

It is odd how many people here seem to view synthetics as sub-life, or not "really alive."

I don't know if they really believe this, or if they just want to believe this because it makes killing synthetics easier to swallow.

I used to be able to pick destroy without s second thought, just markig the Geth and EDI a casualty of war, a sacrifice that would be honored by many.

So, I did my newest playthrough, after brokering the peace between the Geth and Quarians, and spending time and bonding with EDi in the DLC, it was not so easy.

I made it to the Catalyst and I sat there, with my game paused, for a good 15 minutes, argueing with myself about wether i should go with Destroy or Control.

In the end, i still picked Destroy, but after spending the time with EDI in the DLC, it made this choice much harder for me.

If the choice was hard, then things worked as intended.
