Couldn't have said it better myself. I've chose destroy For every shep I've played because it's the only one that stops the reapers once and for all and that's what every single person in the galaxy was hoping the crucible would do when they strapped that sucker to the citadel, regardless of the concequences .the reapers reign of oppression is over, they die here and now! And THEY MAY TAKE OUR LIVES, BUT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE..OUR FREEDOM!!!

If the catalyst was an objective entity. And say, was being held hostage or somehting by the reapers and the crucible was needed to free it and stop the reapers and say synthesis was not adding reaper code to all DNA and then killing shep and leaving the reapers to survive, I would totally choose it. But it fundamentally changes and alters all DNA. That is way worse than destroying the geth and EDI- who can be rebuilt.

Control is just as bad, well almost not quite, but it's still horrible cause Shep is not Shep in control. That thing is harbyshep or reapershepgod. It is nothing of the human and individual that you were before you chose control. And again the reapers survive and shepard dies. Somethings wrong with that train of thought. 

 The catalyst is a reaper. He tells you this, using 'us' and 'we' when talking to shep about the reapers. The catalyst was basically the first reaper. Who harvested the Leviathans- amazing how many people don't get this. Cheers.
