I don't know that I'll ever get over the ending; it was, and still is, absolutely terrible. There simply is no denying it.
But this... this almost makes up for it.
Thank you for the Citadel DLC. It brought me back to what I've loved about this series. I've bought each game and each piece of DLC as it came out. I've played 500+ hours of the MP and done more than my fair share to support it. I've enjoyed and been more invested in this franchise than any other previously (and I've been gaming as an adult since the original X-Wing in Windows 3.1). The ending ruined the franchise for me because after spending so much time getting me to care for its characters, and letting me help bring resolution to all their problems, it trapped them in a single solar system where they would be forced to fight over resources (regardless how the extended cut tried to dress it up) and destroy each other. It made it all moot. I felt like an idiot for caring about a video game character after I finished it. In fact the first time I heard the term "artistic" I remember saying "you mean sadistic". I was heart broken, and embarrassed that I was having emotions this strong over a video game.
Now I've finished ME3 twice, each DLC once, and the first two games 8 to 12 times (played the first two A LOT), and my main save takes me back to that point in the story just before the assault on TIM's base. After playing the Citadel DLC, I'm just going to leave it at that. This will be the ending for me. I know you've been given a great deal of praise, and endured a great deal of contempt over the course of this franchise. At this point I don't want to do either, all I want to say is "Thank You." There are so many things you did beautifully, and a few things you did horribly, but over-all I rank the ME franchise in my top three favorite franchises of all time. I'll never replay the ending of ME3 again, but I'll play up to TIM's base and finish it off with this DLC. Thanks for giving us one last horray with our crew, and for making an incredible universe to care about.
Citadel DLC, Farwell Shepard and Thank you BioWare
