Destroy's a waste, and the cost for the other three endings is unacceptable.

IF the story of ME3 has any influence over the story of ME4, and IF I even get ME4, I will simply use whatever default plot state the game has, instead of importing, because ME3 was not my story. If Shepard could've done the things I wanted him to do, and if important characters (like the Illusive Man) weren't completely butchered, the whole story of ME3 would've been very different.

I hope that ME4 doesn't use any kind of import feature.  I'd prefer mentions of Shepard and Co. and the events of the trilogy to be kept to a minimum.  And since any future Mass Effect titles will be releasing on next-gen consoles, it seems like importing would be a huge headache for the devs.

My canon ME story goes like this though:

Gender: Female
Romance: Kaidan
Genophage: Cured
Quarian/Geth: Peace
Ending: Destroy

Genophage: Not cured
Quarian/Geth War: Geth destroyed
Ending: Control

Be more likely a question or two would be asked somewhere at the start that cements a few details if needed. Import wouldnt happen

Has it been confirmed that major decisions in ME3 will affect the next game at all? There isn't even a save file that stores your Crucible decision!

Could just go the ME2 route with the councilor decision and ask a question to cement that

The question is whether the devs actually should, however.

Given how diverse and fundamental the different options laid out by themselves are, I daresay that would not at all be advisable. A re-boot would give them the chance to start fresh and pan out things well ahead of time.
The blurred vagueness the end-game still retains would very much help out with that too, given the unreliable narrator-situation at the very end...
