Same thing just happen to me, and its not like the books are there any more.

Hell, i can't even re-unlock them, and soon as i turn my game off they get relocked. Even ones i just unlock again.

i lost my champion spec, my main character learned it but now sten and alistair cant now as its relocked. and the ranger book is now missing from the dwarf vendor in the camp!
(i had to unlock all the other specs as well but not sure if its because i deleted an old save or not)
gonna have to start again as well

Guess I won't be firing up Dragon Age and trying to grab return to ostagar any time soon. So what do you guys think, another 3 or 4 months for a patch? Groovy!

it is annoying and i doubt they could fix it really. so the only option is to restart the game now i cant make my warriors champions. ive just gone round getting all the specs again (thank god i waited til after the update to get the others specs such as shapeshifter and bard!) and now im peeved off at the game so im thinking...restart! lol

Yep, same problem here. luckily I'm only a couple of hours into a play through for the new DLC so it's not the disaster it could've been but there doesn't seem much point in carrying on until it's fixed if the just lock again when you turn your xbox off.

Yep. That's the way it is for me. I can reunlock one, ore even 3, and it'll be available, its even becomes available for my other characters and visaversa, but as soon as i turn the game off and on again its relocks, on all my charecters. Tried it 3 time and got the same result. Specializations are now broken for me.

Yeah just turned it off and on and its the same for me. But it seems that specializations that your character already has learned still apply. So as long as you have a save game with accesms to unlocking your desired specialization I guess you can just unlock it right before you want to use it on another game lol. Guess my warrior's gonna be templar/berserker lol.

Ya my current guy's still an arcane warrior/blood mage, but arcane warrior and blood mage are locked for all my other characters and even my party members.

Fine Bioware we will never ask for a patch again. 

Has anyone tried to clear thier cache? And then play it offline?

The implication elsewhere is that this is an achievement-based issue, and will be resolved automatically once the achievements propagate to your specific XBox Live server. I hadn't realized that unlocked specializations were tied to achievements, but it makes sense. That's why it's possible to unlock a specialization, quit without saving, and still use that spec, even though DA doesn't save general system data.



I seem to remember Major Nelson saying that system updates could take upwards of 12 hours to hit all live servers ... so maybe go see Avatar or something and check back tonight?

My specializations were working fine when I first downloaded the patch and RtO. I'm sure because when I leveled up Morrigan, I gave her the Blood Mage spec. However, I just started my game up again, and all of my specializations are now locked... I really hope that this is a bug linked with XBL. If not, then I guess all we can hope for is another patch that fixes the problem, and given DA:O's history of bugs being patched, that's a scary alternative.

People who haven't D/L RTO are reporting the same problem. It seems to be from the patch. So whatever you do don't play it online.

The specializations are relocked on me too.

I also can't trigger the random encounter to gain the starmetal.

Bugs galore, including game breaking quest bugs are still there.

Sucks...

I have had the same problem with my specializations re-locking. Only those that I had points in have remained unlocked. I have not downloaded the new content, but I did fire up the game this morning to play for a few, and I was forced to update for the game. How do they expect to sell the new expansion if you have to restart playing your game every once in a while because they screw up a patch.
