ya im having the smae problem and the other problem were some of my toons can only travel to camp and DLC places. I dont have RtO and im on the 360 i really hope it is all linked to Xbox live

ME2 is their baby, they're not gonna screw it up, two games with bad bugs in a row will hurt their company too much.  I'm not to worried, they have all the GOOD programers on it and the others on this.

Figured out a way to get Berserker back, now I'm just missing Arcane Warrior, and I'll be back to where I was before this whole debacle.

I cleared my cache, loaded up my save, bought the berserker book, exited to dashboard, reset my system, loaded my save back up and all my specs were back.



Thats how it worked for me atleast.

I've downloaded the patch, too. And, I have the same problem with specialisations locking themselves. Funnily enough, though, I've still found the game to be perfectly playable. But, that's just me.

Don't think u can blame the udate for that. That happen to me too, befor the update. See if u can go back to Redcliff and save after at all. I know for me after i saved the earl if i ever went back to Redcliff village any save from that point would be corrupt. It was a huge pain in the ass, and i missed out on some side missions. Though luckly it didn't happen with destroyrd redcliff so i was able to finish.

Okay, the "delete cache, reunlock a spec and then reload the system" have returned all my specializations. Thanks for the fix, guys!

All you need to do is load save, SAVE the game, exit, load new save and everything is back. There is no need to buy a book etc etc.

So any save starting on redcliffe villige after saving the earl will corrupt itself? do I have this right? its all making sense now. thanks

Any save anywhere after going to to Redcliff village would corrupt. At least thats the way it was for me. Couldn't ever go back with out it becoming corrupt. Just had to avoid it for the rest of the game.

This is my second (possibly the third) time back to Redcliffe village & no matter what I do it corrupts at the last point I can go back but I wanna try to get some money doing that trick here before it's destroyed. I have one save right before the last one I tried (weird they were like back to back saves but one works) and for some reason it worked when I tried to save & load a new file with that one. If I can get the money and get away from Redcliffe village, make a save, load it, check it and I'm o.k I hope i'll be in the clear and the string of data won't somehow corrupt itself down the road.

Successful way to re-unlock your specializations if you did download the patch is as follows; You have to do a Gamertag Recovery. This forces Microsoft to re-sync your profile and therefor corrects the error applied by the patch. To do this, sign out of all your profiles then select the box for Profile Sign-In, select Recover Gamertag and input the information for your Xbox Live ID. It wont erase or change any of your data because you are simply re-writing the profile you already have back onto to your hard-drive. Then go into an old save file, find a way to re-unlock just one specialization (I suggest using some party members' dialogue options) then save in a NEW file. Exit the game completely, then when you go back in all specializations you had unlocked will be re-opened across your entire profile. Yay!

Yes, a few days of cooling off and 1 spec unlock later, Im back to normal... stupid that bioware forced people to jump through hoops to get their game working properly...

A hearty "Thank you" to whomever figured out this workaround. An additional "Thank you" to those of you who have shared it here on the boards and to those who have posted elaborations, clarifications and other support. The workaround worked for me and has apparently worked for many others. For those of you still having problems, I urge you to try again -- perhaps there is one little step you're missing... I wish you luck. I know it's frustrating and disheartening to realize you've lost progress through no fault of your own.



As a side note, has anyone from Bioware posted a "Thank you" to the people who figured out and shared the workaround? Has Bioware even acknowledged that there *is* a workaround and that it was the community that has "solved" the immediate problem? If they haven't, I think they should. Perhaps they did and I just haven't seen it.

I'm having the same problem as some of the others here. I cleared my cache, unlocked the beserker spec from Oghren, shut it off and rebooted and only beserker ones are unlocked. Tried it again with Bard from Leliana and still only that one is unlocked. Everything else is still gone and none of the books are there...

Same issue here., clear cache -> re-unlock-> locked
So what do we do, wait for Bioware to fix the problem? The Patch was intended to fix a problem, that it aparently didn't fix, it did however create new problems. I half expect that the update to fix this bug will remove the ablity to turn left.
