I wasn’t sure where to post this, but if someone in the Bioware music department or someone here on the forums could help me it’d be much appreciated. I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the Lake Calenhad Docks have a unique soundtrack. I’ve searched both the official soundtrack and the soundtrack which came with my respective collectors edition; however, none of the tracks listed are the background music for Lake Calenhad.

The reason I am asking is because it’s an incredible piece. It reminds me of the Tristram Village theme from Diablo – I think it’s the string work. Sombre, yet soothing. It’s a shame it wasn’t on the official soundtrack… or, at least, it isn't to my knowledge. So! Does anyone know where I could find a clean copy of this piece of music? Or is there someone from the music department in Bioware I could PM?

Cheers.

Interesting.

Thanks for the responses; I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to post in this thread. I think I asked at the wrong time with all the Return to Ostagar shenanigans and what not. Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked it. I wish I knew more about how to pull files apart so I could actually extract the piece, but I'm afraid it's not my area of expertise.

I do as well.

It's strange that such a unique and notable piece isn't in the actual soundtrack. With any luck, one of the audio people from Bioware may be able to give us some help. I just wish I knew who to PM. Are audio staff even here on the forums? Maybe I should post this in the technical forums?

Any suggestions?

Since the tide of Return to Ostagar is now slowly turning, I thought this might be a good opportunity to bump the thread. If anyone has any ideas on how to retrieve this piece from the data files; or if someone could direct me to a person in the audio department at Bioware - it'd me much appreciated.

Cheers.

I'd like the battle theme revealed as much as the ambient theme, still haven't found anything pointing to it, either "officially" or even over things such as YouTube :(

U can use fsbext.exe to extract DA_m_docs_a1.mp3, DA_m_docs_a2.mp3, DA_m_docs_a3.mp3, DA_m_docs_a4.mp3 from packages\\core\\audio\\sound\\music_bank_strm_new.fsb. That's it! Amazing Music!

There's a channel/user on youtube who has a nice collection of tracks that are not on the soundtrack:
Calenhad Docks
Tavern
The Fade
etc.

Thanks for dredging up this relic of a thread. Turned me on to fsbext. Now I can hear all the background musics not included on the soundtrack, including the theme from "Wonders of Thedas". =D
