So Do We Officially Like Vega Now?

Gotta admit, he grew on me. His muscle-headed tough-guy routine is fitting, and at the same time he's also clueless about the finer points of the politics and science behind what he sees. Shepard has to "show him the ropes" of being more than just a grunt.
Eggs?

I like him well enough, but he should really stop peppering his lines with that horrible Spanish of his.
Funny you say that since Vega's VA is fluent in Spanish.

People are a little too quick to judge based on looks...In terms of personality, I like him better than either Ash or Kidan and I rather have him than Thane on my squad...

I have never brought him to any of the mission, unless it is absolutely necessary.

Um, Freddie Prinze learned how to speak Spanish as a child from his grandmother...he's a native spanish speaker (didn't learn it in his adult years).
I'm pretty sure that means his spanish is authentic....(as is his Italian)

Never saw him as an empty headed military musclebound roid muncher... but maybe that was the voice... FPjs voice over was brilliant. With another voice actor he could very easily have come across as all the negative stereotypes, but there's a depth to his vocal performance that always made me want to listen to him more... to learn about the character.

It doesn't help that it isn't written naturally at all. There are linguistic patterns in the way Spanish and Spanglish speakers mix the languages. Saying "That's locooooo" every five minutes just convinces me that his writer knew maybe five words and decided to pepper them everywhere.Jonathan Sud wrote...

Yeah, he's Puerto Rican. I am myself. And I can easily say that his Spanish is awful. Sometimes people just have bad accents. Authentic or not.Bleachrude wrote...

I always liked him. He's young, he's much less serious than some of the others, and he's actually pretty useful in the squad if your Shep is a squishier class (adept for example).

Hell, one of the stereotypes of the roid soldier is that they are very macho and HATE homosexuals....His best friend on the Normandy is gay and that should've tipped more people off that he was more than just muscles...
