Remember how everyone used to hate him?

Gotta admit, he grew on me. His muscle-headed tough-guy routine is fitting, and at the same time he's also clueless about the finer points of the politics and science behind what he sees. Shepard has to "show him the ropes" of being more than just a grunt.

Eggs?

He's what Jacob should have been.

I like him well enough, but he should really stop peppering his lines with that horrible Spanish of his. And perhaps he flirts with FemShep a bit too much, although that could be a defense mechanism of some sort. "I'll just pretend to be a flirt so I don't have to talk about what's really bothering me," or something like that.

Never liked him, and his gorila dance didn't help to change my thoughts about him.

I have never brought him to any of the mission, unless it is absolutely necessary. I have never cared for military musclehead. With that being said, he had some funny moments in the DLC. A romanced Cortez bro-date with Vega was hilarious, him hitting on practically every girl at the party, his bruised ego after the pull-ups. He's officially surpassed Jacob in the ranking to be. Jacob is now at the bottom.

I 'liked' him in a way. As in, I had no reason to not like him before but he wasn't anywhere near the top of my favorites list. He grew on me a bit more this DLC, but so did everyone else and Liara was rescued from the scrappy heap too.

Funny you say that since Vega's VA is fluent in Spanish.

I never thought he was a bad character and I immediately suspected he was more than just "musclebound brute".

People are a little too quick to judge based on looks...In terms of personality, I like him better than either Ash or Kidan and I rather have him than Thane on my squad...

Just cause you can speak Spanish doesn't mean it'll sound good.

Um, Freddie Prinze learned how to speak Spanish as a child from his grandmother...he's a native spanish speaker (didn't learn it in his adult years).

I'm pretty sure that means his spanish is authentic....(as is his Italian)

I always liked him. He's young, he's much less serious than some of the others, and he's actually pretty useful in the squad if your Shep is a squishier class (adept for example).
Never saw him as an empty headed military musclebound roid muncher... but maybe that was the voice... FPjs voice over was brilliant. With another voice actor he could very easily have come across as all the negative stereotypes, but there's a depth to his vocal performance that always made me want to listen to him more... to learn about the character.

It doesn't help that it isn't written naturally at all. There are linguistic patterns in the way Spanish and Spanglish speakers mix the languages. Saying "That's locooooo" every five minutes just convinces me that his writer knew maybe five words and decided to pepper them everywhere.

Yeah, he's Puerto Rican. I am myself. And I can easily say that his Spanish is awful. Sometimes people just have bad accents. Authentic or not.

Hell, one of the stereotypes of the roid soldier is that they are very macho and HATE homosexuals....His best friend on the Normandy is gay and that should've tipped more people off that he was more than just muscles...

You have just been stereotyped, stereotyper.
