[Impulse and Compulse]

If you have a solid team, it an be really satisfying and fun. Sure, there's some grindy parts, but it's a mix of everybody knowing their role, from support to DPS, and when everything goes right, it's a blast.

Platinum can be fun because of the sheer challenge. However, I'd much rather play more difficult versions of same factions. The mix totally pulls me out of the lore and it becomes more of a sport than a mission.

Na I feel pigeonholed into using certain setups on Platinum whereas on Gold I can just mess around.

It's loads of fun as long as you have a team that knows what it's doing and you don't get Geth.

I usually just take ineffective builds + some funny weapons and PUG silver. Gold with consumables = Silver, but you should take some specific weapons/powers to counter particular enemies. Platinum forces player to use effective combos + specific consumables. PUGing Platinum is painful or boring due to Shame Boxers and corner flaming. So I PUG Silver for fun.

I find hard to consider it "fun". It consists of pretty much you and your team running around as enemies come from the left to right and you face an sheer amount of sync kill bossess running toward you. To me the challenge goes out of the window by the middle of the match and is replaced by complete desperation due to the overwhelming odds.

But normal platinums I don't particularly like. It's not actually hard, per se, and if I get a group of my friends together we can probably clear it comfortably in 20-25 minutes. But it's frustrating, and annoying - much like the geth actually. If someone asks me to plat with them, I am willing to do so, but if I am tired and stressed out (which is only 6.5/7 days a week), it will end with yelling, keyboard mashing, and ragequits.

Which is BAD, btw. I don't play this game for credits, or a shiny manifest. I play it to enjoy myself, to have fun, to distract from the craploads of work I'm totally doing right now and plat makes it feel too much like, say, doing my Algs homework. Spending time and stress and frustration for relatively little return - when a game becomes work, it's not worth playing anymore.

No, it's a failed design. Gold is the place, more fun and sometimes even more challenging.

 I never play with random people unless it's Rio and I have 40 minutes to spare. 

Platinum can be fun with a team but I would agree with the OP, it usually sucks.

Agreed. I also find Gold more fun because I LIKE engaging in battle with the mooks, and not just the big baddies.

I like the crazy stuff that can happen when the different enemy fractions converge, but generally Platinum is a grind more than anything.

Gold is perfect. Relaxing with friends and enough of a challenge with pugs.

They are not really fun for me. Mostly a stress fest as I try to save people. I find far more enjoyment playing on silver or gold.

The only real point to Platinum games these days is speed running for creds and that is just boring to me. Why rush to unlock absolutely everything to its max and miss the enjoyment of actually playing?

By contrast... Gold with competent teams F'n sucks... b/c there isn't enough to kill. Gold is better with one "good" friend and a couple scrub randoms... b/c then there's plenty to kill.

I don't care for the mixed faction boss spam much, and only play it when friends want to dabble, or for an op.

QFT. Platinum is just Banshee - Banshee - Prime - Atlas - Banshee - Atlas...over and over. Yawn.

Plus it's really hard to find a good PUG platinum match that doesn't involve the Rio gimp box

Well it was actually pretty fun! I beat the insanity challenge just now! 5 minutes before the deadline! ****ing collectors! anyway it has not been posible with awesome teammates... specially some guy called mihajlo_lost who was the top scorer and savior!

Well, I'm not a Platinum regular, and don't have a lot of friends playing ME3, so I did this latest challenge with PUGs. I started Friday noon and finished about ten hours ago (I must have died in extraction wave against the geth some 15 to 2 times! :|).

So, it can be frustrating, yes, but when you happen to find a good team, it can also be awesome; I fought the Collectors on Rio, and by wave 3 the team worked liked cogwheels on a clock, it was just beautiful!

I also have to say.... My skills improved more from doing this challenge than they had in the last 2 months of playing gold.

I think its a blast.

The fact that every wave has a different mixup of enemies keeps each wave fresh, as opposed to normal difficulties where each wave is just more of the same. Also, no its not just boss spam, there are always bosses but there are mooks each wave to.

Also, as said above gold with a good team gets boring because there isn't enough stuff to kill/ everything goes down too fast.

Not that I don't enjoy gold when I want a nice relaxing game but when I want some real excitement plat is where it's at.

The challenge got me to try Platinum. Is it fun? HELL NO.

Only another challenge may get me into platinum again. Until then, I will eschew it.

I went through w/ a competent team over the weekend for the challenge (bottom of the board but a win is a win). It wasn't fun exactly but it was...exciting? Kept me full engaged the entire play session, so I would say I enjoyed myself.

Totally not fun , there is something strange in platinium, enemies suddenly appear in your back.
Not because its harder ,flamer can deal with that , but because there is only boss , some power ,some class ,some gun become useless , it is better to remove platinium.

But gold is fun, silver not enough kills

Reason enough I always ask people to tell me what sort of match I'm going into.
Saves time when peeps tell me if it's Plat or gold.
