If you play with friends, platinum matches are fun, but if you play with PUGs, well, It's just a f*cking nightmare.

Seriously, don't play on platinum difficulty with randoms.

Platinum is fun. I enjoy it. Gold is too easy. Platinum is pretty easy too, but it does present an element of chance to whether you extract. Platinum Collectors is the only combo that presents a challenge. This game is way too easy. I mainly play to mess around with the different power combos or to enjoy the guns.

With the right people it's fun when you get used to it. I'd say about ten-twenty matches in.

But not all the time, Gold is more for fun, Plat for getting the adrenaline pumping.

Platinum with friends or good PUGs can be a lot of fun,. With inexperienced players it is frustrating and a waste of good consumables. Gold PUGs you only need 2 good players to carry a team easily

At first, i play no other difficulty than platinum anymore. Must have been for 3 months now. I can't think of ever going back to the lower difficulties, the maps just seem way to empty there. Only the later gold waves seems to be ok and offer some challenge with a bad team. I just love the challenge sometimes :-)

Some facts about platinum in my opinion:

Platinum is a boss spawn festival, if you like that or not is something else. Bad pugs can make that difficulty pretty hard. Also true, a bad team limits your character choices if you want to finish the game regularly around 20 mins (no missile use on spawns, i kinda hate that). But you still can play weaker classes or weaker weapons, especially if your team is good. The time will not change that dramatically, atleast it didnt for me ;-) And btw, you dont have to be an elite player for that, im not one either. Understanding the game mechanics and experience helps alot. I remember my first platinum game on vancouver (a PUG game lol), i died so many times there, just embarrassing. I wasnt a bad player there, but i just had no clue what im doing End of the story, i met another new player on platinum the next day and we made our first experiences on easier maps, till we got used to the difficulty.

If im looking back where i had the most fun, my vote would be platinum. Being able to extract with weaker weapons on platinum > everything else on another difficulty. That difficulty also seems to be the only one where people are actually using there mic properly.

So my advice is, find someone that is willing to play regular platinum games with you. Don't give up if the first few games fail. You will learn pretty fast :-)

Yeah.  To be honest I wouldn't play it if I didn't get invited into a platinum lobby.  Of course I'm always willing to assist a friend in need.

With friends or people who know how to play/have mics, it can be fun. Had a few tense and insane moments.

But other then that? It's really only good for the credits. I'd rather stick to silver/gold. There's a just a wee bit more room in those two difficulties to mess around.

I've been lucky to play with really good and fun people, so yes, I enjoy Platinum. I have never tried pugging plat, though, and probably wouldn't enjoy it.

My son and I just played London - platinum - cerberus and had a great time. One of our pugs dropped out around wave 6 or 7, and we extracted with three. Platinum is great with the right team, and a real grind (with high odds of failure) with a bad team.

By contrast... Gold with competent teams F'n sucks... b/c there isn't enough to kill. Gold is better with one "good" friend and a couple scrub randoms... b/c then there's plenty to kill.

about sums it up 4 friends with level x ur's is no fun on gold.  at least platinum is a decent challenge.

Platinum is more intense than gold, and you get a combination of enemy types to add for a good challenge. It is meant for players who know how to maximize the effectiveness of your classes and have better than average survival skills.
