Like I said in an other thread however, wave 7 Cerberus/Plat is the funniest wave in the entire game.

Yeah.  To be honest I wouldn't play it if I didn't get invited into a platinum lobby.  Of course I'm always willing to assist a friend in need.

DPS grind fest?  I don't supppose you are a Rio/Reaper camper, are you?  Sorry, Gold is too predictable and boring.  I play Gold to test out builds.  Platinum has more danger, requiring nimbleness and quick thinking.  You actually have to play on platinum.  Gold is rinse and repeat for 18mins with no drama.  I like dancing with 4 phantoms and 2 banshees at the same time.

EDIT:  After some thought, I see what you mean, and I agree.  All FPS are nothing but a grind fest in your terminology.  There really is no challenge in this game at all.  I still play because I enjoy power combos and gun mechanics.

I feel the same way about Platinum as I do about soloing: generally tedious and obnoxious, but nice for a change of pace every now and then.

Skill ceiling in this game isn't really high. Fun is where it's at, friend.

Rio camping must be the last thing I'd ever consider doing in this game. For a start I hate Rio with a passion, and camping is just not my usual play style. Plus, I've no need for credits, all I want are two Hurricane upgrades.

Platinum is as predictable as Gold, if not more because boss units are a lot more predictable than mooks and there are quite a few bosses on Platinum. This also translates into needing more DPS to take stuff down, which is by definition a DPS grind fest.

I'm not sure where you got this impression of needing any more nimbleness and quick thinking on Platinum than on Gold. Plat has that habit of sending more boss units which means you'll spend more time aiming at big targets, requiring little to no accuracy at all most of the time. Some waves are different in this regard (e.g. wave 7 cerb/plat) but these are not the norm.

Platinum games can go under 20 mins with no drama as well for seasoned players which are not even trying to go for speed all that much. You can rinse repeat as desired too, as you put it.

Also, 4 Phantoms and 2 Banshees at the same time on the same wave? Please, get your facts straight at least.

Still, that is not to say that Platinum cannot be a good change of pace once in a while. Hell, I play it from time to time. I just prefer Gold's leeway when it comes to variety and viability, which for me is more fun.  If Plat is more fun for you, play it all you want. Like I said , fun is where it's at, and fun is subjective. Doesn't change the fact that Plat is a DPS grind fest.

I had a couple of extremely fun Platinum rounds yesterday, with the Volus Eng. I actually top scored in one round (PPR IX). But I only ever play Platinum for fun with friends, I can definitely see why so many people here don't think Platinum isn't fun: It's not with PUGs!

Plat with excellent team is fun, gold is more fun with randoms. But plat duo with level 0 alliance marines with avengers and no consumables is fun... It's a victory to even reach wave 3, no good mods allowed, so only stability or ULM. Try it with a friend, great fun for the couple of minutes it lasts. (gear is allowed)

This is why I think platinum is fun. 

Hey, mind you, didn't say it's not fun, just that it tears your retinas LOL
Yesterday I played with a Justicar (me) a Geth Trooper, an Awakened Collector and a Batarian Sentinel.
In Glacier, so very tight spaces. For 2 hours. (no rockets speed runs, but playing Glacier to complete matches in around 22 minutes)
The green of the Collector biotics was the coup de grace.
My eyes are really really hurting this morning, like A LOT
