When Shepard rides the space platform up to the Catalyst, the keepers should have all merged into a giant glowing keeper-being, a la The Dark Crystal.

Now I just realized Shepard forgot to ask Leviathan where the Keepers came from!

Huh. Good point. And amazing Dark Crystal reference means you win the forums.

Were the Keepers ever really explained?

That would have created a plot hole. Read the TIM origin comic.

Not necessarily. TIM could have easily had an AI copy of himself made to lead Cerberus in the event of his death.

So the illusive man has been alive for billions of years, but somehow this other person whose origins we see is also the illusive man, and the illusive man of this cycle creates an AI copy that is actually the real illusive man of the other cycles?

This is as bad as the ansem plot.

Did I say any of that? All I said is that the TIM we know could have been an AI not the Catalyst.  The word illusive implies illusion and most certainly should not be confused with the word elusive.

Sure at the end of the day the game Devs did not go with that idea but a little "what if" thinking is fun.

Fine...retcon ancillary comic book material. The whine post foe that would be so numerous that they would blot out .... my aaa battery powered pen light. I kind of asumed thw op meant that tim as AI would have been better fromthe get go, not at thelast minute.

Could've been an interesting ending. Not ideal, but interesting.

Sure. Tali could also have been an AI. But what would be the point in making TIM an AI?

If they respected any of the Book/Comic tie ins Leng wouldn't have a Negative character and TIM wouldn't come off as a poor man's cobra commander.

No, the Ansem plot is much more confusing.
