...would it at all be possible to create a mod using ME Explorer that would place Miranda, Jack, Jacob, Grunt, Samara, Zaeed, or Kasumi BACK into the game, at least as a squadmate choice for missions??

I recognize that this would take a BUTTLOAD of work and may not even be possible (I'm unsure how the game handles Squadmate checks for autodialogue during missions), but it would be a pretty amazing accomplishment if it was. I'm guessing the ME2 squaddie model would have to replace another squad model in game? (here's looking at you, James!!)

People somehow managed to get Liara into their normal squad rotation after LotSB by taking up Jacob's slot. So it's possible. Same with Nyreen and Aria, though no one has done that yet. As for auto-dialogue, if I recall correctly the way that the game calculates it is just depending on who is in the squad in relation to who isn't. Like if James is in the squad, but Garrus isn't he'll have something to say. Otherwise, Garrus does.

As long as you don't use two modded squad-mates, or take up the open slot where you can only choose one in some missions, (Rannoch, Thessia, Cronos) you should be fine. Alternatively, it might just be easier to use save game editing to slot them in to your squad as you select the mission. You'd have to check the coalesced file for the Citadel DLC to see what their hench_XXXX labels are.

Should be possible as long as those extra squadmates are treated like normal squadmates (at least in the roster). However, I've got the feeling you might need a new version of the Gibbed Editor to patch 'em back in for a mission. Keep in mind they don't have any lines so they won't speak a word with you. And maybe some vid scenes are damaged as well and won't work.

And then switch any replaced squadmate's banter with their combat barks, so that most of their responses are "I will destroy you!" or "Perfect!" :P

The way we did this in ME2 on the xbox was to make a save while Liara was in your combat party and then change the location numbers in gibbed to the correct numbers for a main game mission (that had yet to be completed in your game).

I was able to use Liara on every single ME2 mission on the Xbox except one (which was jack's)  Jack's mission had a number of odd things about it when it came to modding though.

The problem with the above method was that it didn't allow you to actually progress through the game since each new mission with Liara was starting from the same save point in game.

I just made individual saves at the beginning of all the missions that I liked and played them whenever I wanted.

I don't have the Citadel DLC so I don't know if this would even work again, but that is how it was done in ME2 on an xbox with Liara.

This is what worked for ME2 and as I said I have no idea if this even still works for ME3, but here is a walkthrough of what you would need to do.

You would need to start with a save that has Miranda in your combat party and load it into Gibbed.
From there you need to go into the Raw tab in Gibbed and expand the Location field.
In the expanded location field you will need to change these fields:

Base level name

Base level name display override as read

Position
X
Y
Z

Rotation
Pitch
Roll
Yaw

You also need to know ahead of time the new numbers you want to use here.  So if you want to do Cronos Station with Miranda for example you will need to get the location numbers that correspond to the very beginning of that mission.  To do this you'll need to either check one of your own saves (if you have one) or get someone who has those numbers to post them.

You need the numbers to be as close to the beginning of the mission as possible. The numbers from either the autosave or the chapter save are usually best.

if you were to do Cronos station with Miranda (for example) make sure Edi is also in the party - the game gets wierd when mission specific squadmates are not in the party.

It probably sounds like a lot but once you have the right numbers it only takes about a minute to change everything.

Forgive me, as I'm no expert on the subject, but I don't think you can save inside the Armax Arena i.e. the only time that Miranda appears in your party.

I could be wrong though.

If there is an autosave or chapter save when the arena starts you could use that, otherwise this won't work, I don't have the Citadel DLC to test it myself.  I was able to save with Anderson in my combat party last night and move us to another area with location changes so the basic idea still works but beyond that I don't know.

I'd be surprised if there is any other way to get these characters into main game missions on an xbox unfortunately - hopefully someone can make it work though, it would add a lot to the game.

Can't we just do the same process we did for Liara in ME2 with LOTSB ala replace a squadmate with her? That's how a few of us did it, we replaced Jacob with her.

Trauma3x is on the 360 though.

PC players can probably get any/all of the arena squad-mates pretty easily.
