I've tried this for the past three hours and came close to finishing it only once. Gold or Platinum on Multiplayer seems like a breeze compared to the Mirror Match in the Armax arena.
It's the fact that every enemy attacks your character exclusively, they ignore your team mates, the enemies spam grenades and never seem to run out, this may be something new they added as the enemy grenades have area of effect that lingers and denys you cover or access to a part of the level and if you stay there you take damage, however, the second you leave cover they fire numerous powers & attacks at your character with insane precision, they also have an uncanny ability to dodge your biotic attacks and somehow I am not getting biotic explosions when you should!
Now I can understand the need for it to be challenging, after all it is supposed to be a mirror of your Shepherd, however, this takes the preverbial ******! I go down faster than I can take one of them down on Normal difficulty for gods sake! I've also had a glitch where it didn't spawn anything after the first round, I waited over 10 minutes and nothing happend, had to reload the game. Now what I've noticed is that Wrex and Grunt just stand there and watch the carnage unfold in front of them and do nothing, they might use a power if I tell them to but then just go back to standing idly by doing nothing, this pissed me off no end! I began to think how many other characters in your party do nothing during the Mirror Match!? Is this why I'm getting creamed all the time? My team mates are doing nothing and I'm taking all the heat, all the time, with nowhere to run and unable to take cover. I'll admit I'm not the best player around but I'm no where near that bad, especially when its supposed to be on NORMAL difficulty setting!
My point of this rant is, that the Mirror Match on the lower difficulty settings is WAY more challenging than it should or needs to be and this has spoiled my play through, leaving me frustrated and angry. When I do get through this and get the achievement I highly doubt I'll play this section of the game ever again, saying that I will get a sense of gratitude and accomplishment when I do get the achievement. This is kinda counter to what I just said but needs saying that The One and Only achievement is actually worthy of the name "achievement" cause its soo bloody hard to get!

You might also want to set their powers to manual use; Carnage and Concussive Shot aren't too great anyway but Barrier and Fortification can be kept up at all times and their grenade powers are useful in a pinch (also, if you don't set powers to manual Wrex tends to waste his grenades fast).

To be honest I couldn't even pass on Normal. (I'm ashamed. I'm no Spectre!) lol
Took me a while to pass it on normal. I think I ended up passing it with Kaidan and Garrus ( originally I was trying with Wrex and Grunt and it was't working out well )

Black widow 5 or higher
Energy drain as bonus power.
Tactical cloak maxed
disruptor ammo max.
This loadout literally tears shield apart. And the Black Widow paired with tactical cloak is the best gun-power combo in the game.
For this fight I would bring tanks like James and wrex or grunt. Maybe a biotic with warp. But I wouldn't take any chances.
Good luck.
@ OP here you go. Did the work for ya. Follow these builds and instruction and you'll merk up clone shep fast.

As soon as you poke your head out you will get staggered or your shields go down.
But I was using the surpressor with a heavy barrel and a cerberus harrier and that did the trick.

Anyway, it's all about moving and shooting. You should be always in motions and shooting, use cover and then move on. Don't stay in one place and only use weapons with a HRF like the Revenant, Lancer, Avenger or Harrier. Also (unless you are a soldier) forget about powers except for Warp and Overload, the rest are useless.
Soldiers, spam AR as much as possible. Always have it on!
Infiltrators need to spam cloak too, should always be on.

I played an infiltrator on insane, hardcore and that worked, I also tried to get to higher ground when possible. So it's killable, probably easiest at a range though.
Well, the Infiltrator is probably the most OP class, so the game becomes much more easier when you play one

Hint: It is easier if you play as Male Shepard. Then you have a bigger target to shoot at.
I don't Think Male Shep has a bigger head..

His posture makes his head 3% or so easier to hit.
But his body is like 30-40% easier to hit
It's nice if things go to hell and you just need to hit something and don't have time to line up the perfect headshot.

I should probably just not do this anymore. Not with this class.
[edit] Tried it with the Grunt/Wrex Reegar strategy, and all they did was stand and fart around. They didn't engage the clones worth a damn. And this happened on two maps. Whenever I told them to focus, they just stood there.
Funny. When I most need those two to hang back (like in Fatal Error) they make a headlong rush toward everything like a newb Novaguard. But when I most need them to do that... they don't do anything.

I made halfway through the third round after like 10 other tries before I just gave up. Also, is it just me, or do Wrex and Grunt have a habit of just..watching you.
It's not just you. I basically soloed this match cause they wouldn't target anyone.

The Krogan just stand around on mirror match. I don't know if it's just a bug or intentional because Bioware figured everyone would try to use them to just stroll through the match. I used Kaidan and James to get the achievement. With chain overload, the multiple fire explosions can do some serious damage while staggering the clones. They helped a lot more than just having two stationary meat tanks.

I play on Narrative, because I enjoy the story and like to feel OP. The Mirror Matches are insane. Those Shepards are broken.
Honestly the vanguard is the only really broken one. That and the stupid DOT grenades everyone throws.
