I personally found myself disagreeing with much of the decisions made in ME3, mostly directed at the bookends of the game where (to put it mildly) my expectations for the high-quality storytelling wasn't met, but upon playing Citadel all of those ill-feelings have melted away. Citadel feels like it's worlds apart from the grim, controversial territory that ME3 strayed into and reminded me why I love this series so much - the characters. There's something about just spending those extra 5 minutes with someone, someone who may not even be human and who certainly doesn't exist in the real world, but you forget all that as you're immersed in the way you build relationships with this motley crew of oddballs.
The voice actors have really done a beautiful job bringing these characters to life, I finished my 21st playthrough of ME1 yesterday and even then (all those years ago) there's this spark the characters have that just isn't in a lot of other games, films, books, comics and tv shows. I always find myself eager to get involved in the stories that these characters offer - especially with the likes of Garrus and Wrex who you almost sculpt into completely new people depending on your dialogue choices and actions.
This series has been immensely special to me over the years and I'll still be replaying these games for YEARS to come. So ultimately I just wanted to extend my sincere thanks to Bioware's team for brewing this particularly fine beverage full of mystery, wonder and love. Despite some of my major issues with some aspects of the series, I keep looking back to the end of Citadel and agreeing with Shepard that this ride has been "the best".
