sorry, but I have been looking for the answer and can't find it.

I can not enable the PC game console. even with following the directions from DA wiki and other online help.

below is the problem:

...Right click on the shortcut, choose properties, then add the following to the end of line in the "Target" field: -enabledeveloperconsole —

nothing can be typed into the target field.:pinched: I bought the disk brand new about 6 months ago. had the ability to enable the console been, uh, disabled?

Okay....it is most likely working. Unless you have applied a specific mod to the game (check dragonage.nexus - can't remember the name of the mod specifically off-hand), the console will NOT show what you have typed in...what you type in doesn't show up in characters. Now, if I am misreading what you have posted, please forgive me, but I urge you to check out the nexus for said mod....if I remember correctly, it also has some instructions regarding the console which could be helpful. Good luck. :)

Also make sure there is a space between the last quotation mark and the hyphen...it took me forever to make mine work because of that stupid space.

It should look exactly like:

"C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

And yeah, like Coldi said...stupid thing doesn't show up...

delete the existing shortcut on your desktop

go into program files an locate your dragon age 2 folder, normally c:/program files/dragon age 2

next go into the bin_ship folder an locate your DragonAge2.exe, right click an then create shortcut

it will normally send the shortcut to desktop so head back to desktop an find it right click an you should be able to now type in the target field

I have 3 face mods for my DA2 and one ERF file 'mw_imort_fix"

when I past c:/program files/dragon age 2 into my search box I get no items match your search
typing c:/program files/dragon age 2 gets no items match your search

the path to get to my bin_ship file is C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship

@emeraldtrader - Don't worry, I've bought the game (physical media) last November and I've successfully used the developer's console; so, it's surely not disabled.

First, go to C:\\Program Files(x86)\\Dragon Age II\\bin_ship.

Inside bin_ship folder, you'll find DragonAge2.exe. Right click on it, select 'Send to', then 'Desktop(create shortcut)'.

The shortcut should be on your desktop. You should be able to edit the target field now. Also, make sure to have a space between the last quotation mark and the hyphen, as already mentioned above.

ok made the short cut...hit properties... put -enabledeveloperconsole into the target box...this is what come up:

"the name '-enabledeveloperconsole' specified in the target box is not valid. make sure the path and file name are correct."

if I added the -enabledeveloperconsole to the address in the target box, the "dragonAge2-shortcut properties" just disappears

Did you put a space in between dragonage2.exe and -enabledeveloperconsole?  It should read like this, quotation marks and all:

"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

ok you've got the shortcut down i take it

now right click on the shortcut an gotto properties

in the target area there will be a line saying

(this is what it says in mine)
"C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe"

(yours probably says)
"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe"

at the end of the line, after the " press space then put in -enabledeveloperconsole

click apply an it should look like

"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

The console is available inside the game. Being a command line interface, It doesn't really look like anything other than a ">". Press 'backtick' (` below ~) to display the console, but umm,,well, it's not really visible in DA2; so try moving your hawke around, if he/she doesn't move, you know the console's active. Type in whatever command you wish to use, doing so carefully as you'll unable to check for typos later, and then press 'enter'. Continue accordingly.

yeah what blazo said, you cant see the console ingame thus you cant see what your typing, just press the key you have set that activates the console in game an if you loose control of hawke it normally means the consoles active, id start by putting in the code for a base game item an if it shows up in your inventory well you know what to do then

Hehe, yes, I used it exactly for that purpose once, as I ended up with 5 approval points less for Isabela to not say byebye.

Use 'runscript zz_app_debug' or use the specific debug commands for each companion as stated in the wiki. The options should be self explanatory.
