I know we all like saying who our LIs are, but what made you decide who you'd pair your Shepard with? Were they the most attractive to you? Was it more of a role playing decision? Does the LI fit your Shepard's story/sensibilities/headcanon?

I wouldn't say l've chosen a favorite as I'e gone through all of them on different playthroughs. Tali is my favorite character, but I don't think she's the best LI. The one I'd say fit's the story best is Liara... and even though they've said differently, Bioware obviously does also. She's there from almost the start, and has a personal connection to Shep due to there "meeting of the minds" in ME1. Her final goodbye is one of my favorite parts of ME3, and one of the only good parts of Priority: Earth.

Garrus has a fun personality* and he has a sexy voice?

*At least in ME2 and ME3, he shows hints of it in ME1.

Okay there is more to it than that. My Shep sees a lot of herself in Garrus. I play Colonist/Ruthless so needless to say my character has more that a few issues with batarians. She tries really hard not to go all psychotic biotic on them when they do crap like what happened in Bring Down the Sky (she doesn't always succeed) and Garrus has the same problems with injustice. They're perfect for each other. They can empathize.

James isn't a romance option and I feel kinda dickish picking up Cortez so soon after he's finally getting over the loss of his husband.

Kaiden is the right mixture of someone Marcus Shepard is close to, is very easy on the eyes, has a great figure, is a fellow Sentinel, has been single the whole series, and is a romance option.

Sure, he had a fling with Kelly Chambers, but that was pretty much just to get her to feed his fish and to make sure she showed up in ME3.

I usually make up my personal storyline and how my PC think when choosing LIs.

I chose Kaidan because of his easy-going personality. He's an average, everyday guy that Shepard could confine on rely on. He treats Shepard as an equal partner and doesn't see him as his superior (More so in ME1 than ME3). I guess in my head, all my Shepard looks for is someone he can depend on, basically a supporting partner, although Kaidan being modeled after a gay model doesn't hurt.

My other file is Tali. She's the girl-next-door type that my other Shepard just want to protect. My Shepard feels like something is missing from his personal life. He spends all his life working in the military that he didn't have time to find love. Having Tali in his life allowed him to soften up and enjoy life. He now feels like he has some other purposes in life, to look after and protect Tali.

Liara is the most perfect LI for my FemShep. They've been through a lot. I like that Liara was there right from the beginning, recovered Shepard's body and never doubted her for joining Cerberus (because it really got so annoying how some people had to point that out all the time - except Garrus). I also find her very beautiful and smart.

Jack, because she looks alright and is the most interesting of all the gals. She was interesting to see evolve. Sorry, I can't stand Liara post ME1, it's so painfully obvious as well how much BioWare likes her and tries to make her canon.

I would have stayed with Ashley if she wasn't rocking that body condom thing in ME3. It just goes against her character entirely.

It was a mix of my own liking and what I felt worked best for my Shepard.

I romanced Jack. I felt like my Shepard was a different man with her around. They kind of helped each other. He softens her up. She gets him to ease up, bring out his non-serious side. All in all, just a very heart-warming relationship beween those two. Jack is tiny where I usually like more wholesome women, but she's a wild one and I'm a sucker for that.

I only just finished playing the Citadel DLC a couple hours ago and I'm still feeling euphoria from her romance content. <3

I generally didn't pay much attention to Liara during my first trilogy playthrough. She grew on my through ME3, so I decided to replay the trilogy with her as my LI.
Been exclusively romancing her since :innocent:

Garrus. I liked how the relationship between Shepard and Garrus evolved from a mentor-student type thing to one more on equal grounds in ME2. I loved how easily and seamlessly their friendship progressed into something more romantic, and quite frankly, it reminded me the way my boyfriend and I ended up together. He's my best friend as well as my boyfriend, and I loved that I could emulate that in Shepard and Garrus.

Also he's got an insanely hot voice. Like. *whistles* I was hooked from the minute I heard him on the Citadel in ME1.

My femshep prefers Liara and Liara only for her LI from ME1, my maleshep tho bangs whatever comes his way :)
And why Liara - blue, smart, sexy Image IPB and she's a really good friend even if you don't date her.

+ tried all possible LIs for my femshep ( before chosing Liara as a "permanent LI for all my runs ) liked some but none as much as Liara, Tali was best of the rest tho.
And as said for maleshep, banged Liara in ME1, all what was there in ME2 ( jack 1 night stand, Kelly danced, Miranda.....roooaaarrr Image IPB ) anyway, no preference on maleshep. ( tho I rarely play with him )

Because it's Garrus mother ****ing Vakarian.

Also, it may just be me, but I feel as though Garrus and Femshep just fit very well together.

Because Tali is gorgeous, a genius... and has a shotgun.
Because Liara is gorgeous, a genius and can compress you into a coffee cup.
Because Miranda is gorgeous, a genius and can shoot you at a hundred paces.

You get the idea

I used to watch chuck so I was a bit of Yvonne Strahovski fan. Also the other options were lame :P (but awfully fun to dump for Miranda!)

I've romanced, Tali, Ashley, Liara, Miri and Jack. With male shep and have romanced Liara with femshep once.

But for me, my canon and favorite Romance is Miri, with Liara and Jack coming close second. Tali's righ there to.

Miranda is my favorite. Why? I find her really attractive, obviously she's gorgeous. But I find her personalty and confidence awesome. She's a bit B!tchy early in ME2, but that's cause there's sexual frustration and competition between her and Shep (She's obviously physically attracted to him from the beginning) and she's insecure about her looks, ability and origin. She's a control freak. And most control freaks are very insecure- but in a good way.

Miri is a very deep and complex character. Most of the ME2 characters are. When you peal back the layers of Miri she's actually an incredibly venerable and affectionate woman. But also, she's a take charge, no BS BAMF. And I mean she does have lots of ASSets.

I find her very compatible with someone like Commander Shepard. I think it would take a man like Shepard to get and keep someone like Miranda Lawson.

This.

Heh, ok, seriously. Aside from the fact that turians look awesome, I thought they were a pretty good match. Garrus is always very supportive of Shep in 1, and I loved his banter and his occasional awkwardness, like when he stumbles around for a few minutes before thanking Shep for taking him aboard the SR-1. Then in 2, he's the first of your old crew that you run into, and the tables kind of turn and you get to support him through a rough spot, which is an important balance in a relationship. By the time you get to 3 (or, really, by the end of 2), they've prettymuch always got each other's back.

I think what sealed it for me as definitely the right decision was in 3 when Garrus pressures Shep into getting some rest and letting him handle things for a while. It occurred to me that even though he's coming along with Shep for this, he's still handling a lot of stuff on the turian side of the war, but he keeps that to himself mostly instead of asking Shep to help him shoulder the responsibility 'cause he knows she's already got enough on her plate. He just... runs around and minimizes the collateral damage so someone he cares about can handle their own stressful work.

It maybe also helped that my main Shep is also a sniper. Gave them something to talk about. Made a few missions where I didn't think to bring a biotic along hell, though. <_<

I guess it was RP/Head Canon for me. My fem!Shepard is a lesbian, but won't have a sexual relationship with an alien, even though she has no problems with them. She dated Liara in 1 because she had no choice, but in ME3 when Samantha showed up, the blue one had to be let down "gently"

Because Kaidan is just adorable and I can never bring myself to not romance him in ME1 and cheat on him in ME2. Still waiting on that game play through where I have the guts to kill him off and keep Ashley around for a run.
