I tried Kaidan and found him boring. Then I saw him on Horizon in ME2 and decided to forget him without remorse. I tried Thane because he was clever, calm, interesting and reliable, but when I saw he couldn't be saved, tried Liara in ME3, for the same qualities. Finally I tried Garrus in a new playthrough, just to see... and now I can't choose another one. He's badass, funny, loyal, his evolution and his thoughts are interesting, he's very kind and supportive, and he dances tango ! Of course I just have to forget his face

My Male Shep stayed with Ashley the whole time. He didn't feel comfortable dating an alien at the time and he stayed loyal to Ash despite their fight.

My femshep dated Kaiden, then Garrus and then Traynor. Traynor was far and away the best. Any future femsheps will end up with Traynor.

I actually started to romance Liara in ME1 on my first playthrough that got deleted with a hard drive malfunction.. But before I locked that in, Kaidan started coming on to my character and I had to reject him. He gave me the most polite puppy-dog rejection acceptance that I just kind of felt bad. Finally, when I had time to play again a year later, I vowed to at least give the poor guy a chance.

And it was my first 1-3 playthrough. I have to say, I don't regret it one bit. Had he not been so sweet in 1, I would have never even considered it since I watched my fiance play through and got the instant hots for Tali.

Still hot for Tali though. I'm going through a playthrough now with MaleShep that's going to branch off with 1 ME2 save where he stays single and one where he romances Tali through 3. The single one will then romance Kaidan in 3. The guy is great as a LI and a bro. As much as people seem to make fun of him, he's just got a great personality. Reminds me so much of my fiance and my best friend.

Of course, I'll do a Garrus playthrough, a Liara playthrough.. But Tali and Kaidan are the way to go for me. I love the personality. I don't need badass. Don't need uber-hot. (Or I would have been all over Miranda like a nobody's business.) My characters are looking for partners that can be there to support them and that they can protect in their own way. (And being good looking helps. Tali is just.. and I think I can like muscles for Kaidan.)

Tali was my first love well because I like the mystery, her innocence, and just her character growth throughout the game.

However, ME1 didn't let me romance her so I romanced Liara and Ash in separate playthroughs. In the Liara playthrough and after learning she is the one who delivered me to Cerberus to be rebuilt I couldn't abandon her. So she is my ride or die chic who I can count on always.

Ash however was a trick and cried about Cerberus so I happily chose Tali in that playthrough. So in conclusion as the lost boyz said, I am in the mix and in love with two women (Tali and Liara), lol.

I generally pick Liara in ME1 and 3. She's just more my kinda gal than the other females in the game. Although my Shep couldn't resist Miranda in ME2 but that was only physical, he wasn't really attracted to her emotionally like he was with Liara. Oh, and he might have had a fling with Kelly too. But that was only because Liara wasn't there and after 2 years of no action Shep got a little horny. Sorry Liara.

I simply fell for Tali. Rather too much in fact, I should probably see someone about that. Wish she was a little older and acted like it but no-one's perfect.

I went with Ashley in ME1.

I thought it would make my character more interesting if he stayed true to her throughout the whole series, like he had met his true love in act 1 and then was tearfully reunited with her in act 3.

Boy was I wrong.

In retrospect Liara was the best LI in the game IMO. Had the best scenes and the most emotionally impactful story.

I would say that Tali is right up there with her if I wasn't so full of spite from them not showing what's the behind the mask.

I'm in the minority here but Ashley is my fav LI for my Shepard and she fits him so well. She was with him from practicably the start there both tough soldiers dedicated to the Alliance. Both of them grew up on a ship with there parents in the military. And I can't see anyone else filling that spot. But of course this is only for my main play through.

Me, I like girls that are smart, a little shy, and awkward with people, which make Liara a perfect target ) I found her incredibly cute in ME 1 ) Hard to not romance her lol
Though I grew to really like her as I went through all three games. She's very compassionate, and she's always there for Shepard, even risked her own life to bring Shep back (while everybody else just accepted his/her death. Worse, some even raged at the reborn Shep *cough* silicon lips *cough*). Plus her voice is sexy as hell :Q... lol

I've always picked Miranda and no one else. Always felt the most compatible with her and she's the one that rebuilt me (really enjoyed the dialogue of "I did good work putting you back together", "You Certainly do", *Kiss*), Plus loved her Citadel DLC content.

I couldn't pick him in ME3 -- he had left my FemShep's for some random Cerberus brain and they were starting a family. 

Also, I don't even know if I want to port over my FemShep who romanced Thane.  I think that one would be even more depressing as he is going to die and it is not changeable.

For MascShep, nothing I did made Jacob available for romance in ME2.  He was only interested in "spilling drinks at the Citadel"

I stuck to Kaidan. I like the Kaidan romance in ME1, the rest of the romance arc I find mildly irritating and contrived. Not to mention the anguished look Kaid gives during the Normandy evac. at the end is a little much.

I thought BW played it safe with the aasari and had they made the race a little more adrogynous I might have considered a Liara romance but femShep/Liara just struck me as visually a adolescent fantasy of girl on girl sex.

In ME2, from a rp perspective I didn't think my Shep would awake after two years and jump into another relationship while prepping for a suicide mission. Sex? Maybe, stress relief and all. I also wouldn't have chosen to stock up with animals for a suicide mission.

I like Thane but I like the relationship with his wife more and found it believable with the drell memory that he would still feel very close to her.

Garrus was my bro and I like that role for him although I suspect for femShep he is probably the best straight romance and he remains loyal. That's a huge plus for Garrus.

Everybody else believes in Shep except for Ash and Kaidan? I thought that was a very contrived arc. I'll accept some doubt on Mars but the Udina thing was just... no.

Jacob's romance I found the milltaristic jargon kinda inexplicable and never went there.

One day I'll do the Garrus romance.

The Cortez romance struck me as perhaps the most mature and believable relationship of them all. I have only seen some of the relationships on youtube. My opinion might be different if I actually played thru a romance.

In my initial playthrough of ME2 I started romancing Jacob, but then my computer got a virus and had to be wiped. Barely got through any romance scenes but I didn't like the way my Shep acted when she flirted. So I tried going for a different character and when I found that Garrus could be flirted with, I thought, "Ooooh, is this a joke flirt? Must. Try." By then I was growing fond of Garrus' character.

Now he's the LI for my canon Shepard. Because ohmydeity I love it when romances start awkwardly. That and his romance arc is brilliant and he and my canonShep seem perfect for each other. =3

I might go for Liara or Traynor in a new playthrough after I replay my old one. I like Liara and Traynor's... well, she's Traynor. I was half tempted to dump Garrus and make her my LI, after all. XD

Decent and sensitive, smart and strong, affectionate but not overbearing... nicely shaped, with that voice... and while in 1 & 2 his face was always kinda the weak link for me, as soon as I saw that ME3 promotional picture he was in with Shepard & Liara (the one my avatar's based on) I was floored by how handsome he was.

I've roleplayed other Shepards who pursued other love interests, either because they'd had feelings for Kaidan and lost him on Virmire and tried to carry on, or because pursuing someone else was more consistent with those Shepards' characters-- like the xenophobic jerk Shepard who totally dug Ash's racism and then gravitated to Cerby Miranda after he lost Ash at Virmire-- but for me it's Kaidan all the way. So much so that my r/l hubby be jelly of the character, I think because he can tell that if Mr. Alenko were real, I'd find him irresistible.

I love the thought and emotion conveyed in this post. This is exactly the kind of character-immersion that I do but am always afraid to express to others.

Brains and body I admit are the top two. But when a woman fights... that is a winner for me above all others.

Ash may have the last two but, I dont mean to say she is not smart, but she is not... smart smart.

Like jacob. I share his taste in woman, I like a woman to be eons above me in intellect....while able to kick ass.

I wanted Tali in ME1 for basically the same reasons I chose Merrill in Dragon Age 2 because nerdy needy lonely hot girls are mostly a fantasy in real life and I wanted to see behind her mask but she was not an option so I ended up with Liara, then in ME2 I got with Tali but when shadow broker came out so then I shifted back to Liara, at the start of ME3 I finally told Liara I wasn't going to stay with her and waited for Tali, and then I got Tali's picture, then Citadel came out and her singing was some kind of embarrassing

No no, I mean they share the same armor. and body. Literally. The only difference is the color of their skin and armor, and face of course.

From the neck down they are carbon copies. Their armor are the same, Liara is white, Ash is dark blue. Same for the rest.
