While i agree that there are alot of garbage weapons in the game, there is afew that are really good even at 1.
Ive seen people do amazing things with various wpns in me3; javeling killstreak, oneshot brutes, and many more, so they can't be THAT bad.
Chances are that if you just started, then even if you were to start with all wpns at 10, you would still fail horribly at the higher difficulties. I remember my own first bronze game, i got pewned instant and felt i would never ever be good enough for silver.
Now i can take a soldier armed only with predator pistol and rock silver.
And if you really dislike ALL the weapons then id advise you to use the power classes.
classes like eg. the classic Human Adept is platinium viable without equipping any weapons at all, and i would be able to take this class to any diff even if my manifast were wiped.

When this is said, id say that if you need all the awesome wpns to have fun, there might be a chance that you even with theese wpns, wont have fun in the game.
I had great fun when i started(eventho i had no wpns), and i still have great fun.

I haven't just started. I've had this game since it was released. Probably longer than anyone else here. I even played the multiplayer demo early via a Battlefield 3 promo.
I don't dislike ALL the weapons but there is only a few weapons I have which I really like. Also, I actually completed my first platinum match with the Human Adept. I got almost no kills but I did manage by spamming Warp or whatever he has. I think the Human Adept has a support role more than anything else.
Like I said, I, unfortunately, don't have any of the powerful weapons than can just mow down enemies.

Your lack of knowledge betrays your lies.

If you think that the classic human adept is only good for spamming warp and are a support class then you have defently not played Me3 Multiplayer alot.
And lying about it does'nt help your arguments a whole lot.

Eh?
I genuinely completed a platinum match once using a Human Adept. I don't play as the Human Adept so I wouldn't know what it's role actually is. I was very suprised of the effectiveness of him on PLATINUM challenge.

Your responses are ..completely bizzare. The Human Adept is my forte and it kicks asss. You're just doing it wrong. I bring it to Platinum with a Tempest X and an Acolyte X and no UR's and manage to be competent or above.

I have to laugh at you saying that most of us haven't been playing as long as you- actually- probably most of BSN has been here since the first day of the demo. OH you played the Battlefield demo thingy? I had the Microsoft code for the demo before it even started for the public!! OOOOhhhh who wins? lol.  Besides you took a long absence. A lot of the people in this thread are in fact very knowledgeable about the game.

THE thing that will make this game more fun for you would be an attitude change. The game is the way it is. If you want to be a heavier hitter at higher levels like Gold and Platinum you are simply going to have to be a better player. Meanwhile while you argue with us about how the game is not complex, the RNG is unfair (most of us agree with you on that to a certain degree), and that it's not fun, you could try understanding that you simply need to improve your play.

The suggestion for using a power class IS ideal for you since you're so concerned about your weapons inventory. I started on XBOX and several months ago also started on the PC/Origin. I had a lot of experience but a zero manifest. What did I do? I teamed up with friends from BSN and brought my vanilla Human Engineer and my low level Avenger to Gold. :pinched: I didn't expect for my manifest to fill up overnight and certainly felt like I could play Gold once I got comfortable with the different controls.

I'm never one to typically say "then leave and don't play" but you're asking us to convince you of something you frankly do not want to even entertain: which is to prove to you why you should continue playing and offering us rebuttals about how our suggestions are wrong or missing the point.

You know what you have to do B)

Of course I was doing it wrong. I said that I don't use it. Not often, at least.

You had access to the demo before it was available for anyone else? That's cute. You don't have to boast about it. And just because I took a long absence doesn't mean that I'm inexperienced. I sometimes do better than people with 1000+ N7 rating because some of them think they're invincible when they use ultra-rare items and maxed characters.

Looks like I'm dealing with another person who thinks I can only win on Bronze difficulty. I can breeze through Gold difficulty without using consumables. And sorry for sounding like a noob but what does RNG stand for?

The only power class I would play as is Engineer. Its my second favourite and the powers are so much fun to use. Flamethrower Turrets = Me Gusta.

You should all see me in action.

Ever since singularity got revamped, the HA has been one of the better adepts, I've seen absolutely amazing HAs dominate the scoreboard and they barely fired their guns. And an experienced player would know this.

If the core design was done properly, there would be more organic (and fun) methods to balancing the game.

This is why player weapons should kill quicker.

Maybe you should just kill quicker.

I have only really started playing since September and have only 360 hours in the game. I now have enough unlocks to play Gold and not be a burden to my team. At present I am playing to get familiar with Gold and buy JEP and Arsenal packs. Just stick with the game and the unlocks will come.

Well, if you have PS3. Simple old photo camera or even cellphone camera can capture taht. And here we go. You played only few Platinum matches. Though you are complaining about others suck hard on platinum. Well, I guess it is harder to play on Console, but still, you need more experience to be 1) able to play on those high difficulties 2) to unlock stuff. And to be fair, I find to unlocking stuff now much easier then at the realease of the game. Droprate of N7 seems higher than at the start to me.

Like I said, I don't play as the Human Adept so I'm no expert on him. I didn't have many kills when I used him so I didn't think he was like the tip of the spear. I also don't think it was as powerful as it is now when I used him.

And you're right, it is harder to play on consoles with the infamous sprinting being controlled by holding the X button(Or A for X360 users).

The thing I don't get here is this: You know you are not experienced on platinum, especially not with the Human Adept. Then why do you use it there? I believe you are good with a destroyer on gold, because you say you use it all the time.

Before Retaliation came out with the challenge system, I merely had two classes I primarily played: The Salarian Infiltrator and the Geth Engineer. I told myself I would try out other classes eventually, but I was comfortable with the ones I knew, so why change? Then the challenges came, and I had a real incentive to try out other classes. So I did, and I honestly liked pretty much all of them, but some needed some time to get used to.

The thing is, you can't just take a new class to platinum. You need to get a feel for it. Play some matches on silver until you get how to play it, then go to gold. Same with platinum. There are only a few classes I took immediately to gold, like the Kroguard, because I knew he can take it.

What I'm trying to say is: This is all about expierience. The longer you play a class, the better you will be with it. You acquire skills so you can play better difficulties. Sure, better weapons are one way to kill enemies faster. But you can't kill enemies when you're lying on the floor. You need skill and experience to survive and to know how to use your powers effectively. And you already know that every character plays differently. When I went from a Krogan to my first Vorcha, I needed some time to remember that I can dodge. :pinched:

Try out different classes and after a few matches you'll have fun with them, even if you don't have the best weapons in the game. There might be the occasional class you don't like, but it shouldn't happen too often. If you have trouble with spending skillpoints and finding out how to use a class, try me3multiplayer.com/. It doesn't have many builds for the newer characters, but after a while, you'll get an idea in what to skill in a class. Another good site is masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Combos, where you can see which power combos you can do with which skills. Very useful.

Also, as others have pointed out before, try to play with friends. It greatly helps if you have players you know and can rely on. If you have a regular group, you'll have great fun and not too much problem. I know there are many noobs around there in PUGs, but when you don't have many friends to play with and see a good player in a PUG, send a friend request. Some guys in this thread have offered to help you too. I'd help you but I'm on PC.

In total, this game is fun for me because I play with friends and can play many characters with greatly different playstyles. Of course, Unlocking all the stuff is a goal for me too, but it's a minor one. The challenges are also a nice goal to work toward to. I'm still having fun with that and it makes you try out new stuff. You don't have unlocked everything to do every challenge, but you'll get there. Of course it will take time, but it was worth it for me.

That's impossible, because it only counts up to 25 gold extractions. But you have done 96 gold waves in total, according to your map mastery. And keep in mind that it only counts stuff since after Retaliation came out. It only counted the things you did after you returned to the game recently, because as you said, you had a break of a couple of months.

Also, keep in mind that there have been many changes in the game since you last played: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/16242925. Also, you say you are an experienced player. You might have been experienced when you took the break. Since you returned, you had 14 successful matches. And ME3 Multiplayer is very different from your default shooter like COD or BF3. It's probably why you feel mostly competent with weapon based classes. The power use/rpg style is what sets ME3 apart from normal shooters. And the Destroyer is probably the class that is most similar to a normal soldier class in shooters: Even though you have powers, you activate them at the beginning of the match and never have to think about them. All you have to do is shoot and throw grenades, if you specced them.

Coming back to those 14 successful matches: You should give it time to get used to the game after that break before you try platinum again. By the way, was that platinum match you did also before your break?

I used the Human Adept there because his powers were really straightforward. Just keep hitting the enemy until they go down. I only anticipated getting up to wave 6 but somehow we managed to get extracted. So evidently, you can take a new class to platinum.

Its easy to remember to dodge if the character has a memorable movement style. When I unlocked the Turian Saboteur engineer, I was airborne for most of the following game.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of my friends are good enough to play this game. One time I played on Gold challenge with some real life friends and we ALMOST won. We would have won if one of us wasn't dying every five seconds. He was a really low level. We were just messing about anyway.  www.youtube.com/watch

Told you that they changed the manifest.

My break was for the greater good. It gave me the chance to play some of the Autumn 2012 releases such as Dishonored, Hitman: Absolution, Far Cry 3, etc. Those are great games by the way. I highly recommend playing them.

Yes, that platinum match was before my break. And I completed a lot of platinum matches after that.

I'm not saying it's impossible to extract while using a new character on platinum, just that you shouldn't. As others said before, in that match the other players won the match for you. If you had played more with this character on silver on gold before that match, you would have been a bigger help and got more kills.

Anyway, that was all just to underline again that skill is more important in this game than having the best weapons. And there are many classes that you can have fun with, even without being tanky and having the best weapons. The Destroyer is just a bit easier to master than for example a Fury or a Vanguard. Most likely you aren't very good with them at the first matches or when switching to a higher difficulty. But that's part of what this game is about: Mastering a class and learning to kick ass with it on higher difficulties.

Well I had his powers maxed and I didn't get many kills. So it just shows that power classes aren't as effective as weapon classes.
