I still play ME1, even if it's a bit of a chore sometimes. I like the general story in ME1, but the gameplay and characters get so much better in ME2.

True, still started it two weeks ago, hit Virmire yesterday and will scrap Saren and Sovereign tonight.

I just started one a couple of weeks ago, on hold at the moment because i wanted to do the Citadel DLC. I've played ME1 so many times though I'm thinking of skipping and going straight to ME2 which I have only played once or twice.

Hell yes, I'm going through my... 5th playthrough now? I've played it twice on insanity.

Only once in a blue moon. Otherwise, I Genesis and jump right into ME2.

For me, every second of ME1 not spent in a conversation/cutscene, nor spent playing the endgame, nor spent exploring the Citadel, NOR spent fighting thresher maws in a beautiful environment is a second wasted.

am starting from ME1 agine and going to work through, love the series!!

Do other people still play through?

Would love to see more DLC worked in from ME1

I think The next ME game should work through the same story from another point of view.

Ilusive man would be great.... He tried to do good, oops

Citadel motivated me to do another full playthrough... Think I'll be genocidal yet somehow still paragon Shep this time. Krogan/Geth are going down

Any new Shepard gets started in ME1 and i work my way thru. Now if we could get ME with the play style of 2&3 plus look of 3 I'd be happy.

Thresher Maws in ME1 are easy to spot where they are.

By the way, everyone seems to have different views on what is clunky or not. Getting into cover while sprinting or accidently vaulting over it is also "clunky".(brillant idea to put everything on the same button by the way)

The difference: Cover wasnt really important in the first game and it was never meant to be played like a cover based shooter. That was an option, not a necessity like now.

Started playing a few days ago as finishing the last ME3 DLC made me want to experience the series as a whole, was a bit slow, but then again one can always have a super speed button on the keyboard if one wish for it

Just finished replaying. I think it's the strongest of the the three games for reasons that were enumerated on my blog http://melindasnodgr...-mass-effect-1. Yes, the combat becomes smoother in the later games, and they added a number of interesting characters, (one of the things at which BioWare excels), but the story structure is solid, the world building terrific and you have a personified villain.

I'm playing through ME1 again. It's almost like a proto-Mass Effect. They made so many mistakes with that game. Really, the only things keeping this from being a disaster are the innovation of the voiced protagonist, some bits on Virmire, and the last hour of the game. I still love it, like a mother loves her ugly, ugly baby.

Yes. I still play both ME1 and ME2.

I love ME1 for it's story, characters and dialogue choices and the ending.I like putting points in my skill and that my sniper ability is bad until I get those points up. I always tear up no matter who I leave behind and I always have a smile on my face when Shepard comes out through the wreckage.

Each Shepard is a little different depending on my dialogue choice. Love it, even with the same building plans I enjoy everything about it.

Love ME1 still the most... but after ME1 one simply has to play the other two... and the ME3 multi... cannot help it...

Yeah, full trilogy runs for me every time. With MEUITM, graphically I enjoy it. Despite enjoying ME2 and ME3 more with regards to level design and overall audio, I enjoy the story of ME1 and it makes finishing ME3 all the more satisfying. And, for some reason, the conversation with Vigil is a favorite part of the trilogy for me.

Yes, I'm 2/3's of the way through my latest run. I always play the whole trilogy through.

.. and don't get me going about MultiPlayer

When I get nostalgic. I miss the pre-Sovereign citadel sometimes, the presidium looked so clean and relaxing.

I like having Wrex around, seeing my Shepard being all wide eyed, humble and enthusiastic, the music, the awkward elevator conversations and exploring random nice places like Eletania and Ontarom. I miss the cinematics of ME2-ME3 though, and I find the combat quite bland after getting used to charging and spawning novas everywhere.

Mass effect 1 is a brilliant game. I just started a new game + with my level 46 infiltrator.
Sure I miss my cloak and incinerate, but it's just so damn fun to play.

If the game had the combat of mass effect 3....that'd be such an awesomesauce game!!!

I wish I could play ME1 again.  It's my favorite of the trilogy.

But knowing how it all ends up, I simply can't enjoy it anymore. :(

I couldn't either until I started to ignore and headcanon the parts I didn't like. It's actually working
