I was honestly underwhelmed with the homosexual romances I was provided in the game. The straight audience at least gets some eye candy and variance. I have to choose between Blandy McBlanderson or I get someone's dead-husband-rebound.

My Shepards are awful lonely.

:o

Be glad that at least it's not Jacob. I watch drying walls more interesting than him.

Lifting. Oh, and conversations about 8-cylinder engines.

Am I doing it right?

Oh ****, I hate combustion cars but I was the regional olympic weightlifting champ (until I broke a wrist... hurr).

Please don't tell I'm not gay enough :crying:

On a completely unrelated note your signature looks like a 90's webpage, good times.

That's fine. I don't mind it when people are antagonistic and standoffish with me for no reason.

It's cool, dude.

Presumably by not being excessively flamboyant.

Yeah but there's no law that says a straight man can't be flamboyant or that a gay man can't be conservative in nature.

Yup.

There is no such thing as acting Gay or acting Straight. There is only acting as you.

Labels are stupid.

Hey guys, I always noticed how many users here on BSN like Steve Cortez and gay Kaiden Alenko as their LIs. While Bioware is famous for a few gay characters on games like Dragon Age II and all, I think they took things to a new level of realism on ME3.

I find this move a little weird, specially because in my mind Shepard always acted straight on ME1 and 2. But that’s not the point here.

As a straight gamer and all, this got me to realize something: Ive never met a gay gamer in my life!

Do you guys choose those characters as your Lis because of your sexual orientation or just for storytelling purposes?

This is not a hate thread or anything like that, I’m just curious.

I'm not straight and my main-Shep has that incommon with me. I don't define myself gay/bi either, I prefer the term "people friendly." My main-Shep is a tomboyish renegade femShep who likes feminine characters.

My paragon Shep on the other hand seems to be pretty straight. Weird fellow he is.

I don't find Kaidan bland personally.

As for eye candy, I like Kaidan, Sheploo and Vega.

But still, I have never seen Shep look differently at a male in ME1 and 2. Even if you never romance a female
character, he never gives that vibe away, you know? But that's just me saying.

I don't know, every time Shepard walks up to Kaidan in ME1 I've gotten the impression that they were checking each other out. It's just something about their facial expressions as he walks up to him.

I'm a mostly straight female gamer. Kaidan and Garrus are my two favorite LI's, but I've had FemShep's go for Liara and Kelly too. It just depends on how I role play my Shepard. My Liaramancer is bisexual and had a crush on Kaidan before she rescued miss blue eyes Liara (and had the amusing love triangle scene).

There is no "canon" Shepard. Most people may play as a male Shepard, but I ALWAYS play as FemShep. Shepard is a woman to me. The same applies for the sexual orientation of Shep.

Edit:  I might be the only one who wants a s/s romance with Miri.  FemShep and Miranda would make quite the pair.  Oh well :(

I shot down every asari that came onto me. Every social decision I made was with the understanding that my Shepard was not attracted to women. Gay Shepard works fine.

As a straight gamer and all, this got me to realize something: Ive never met a gay gamer in my life!

I guess it depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you are the shut-in type, you generally don't meet a whole lot of people. If you go to game stores frequently, I guarantee you you've met a gay gamer, you just didn't realize it. People don't know I'm gay unless I tell them.

Do you guys choose those characters as your Lis because of your sexual orientation or just for storytelling purposes?

I chose Kaidan because I wanted to try playing a gay character, something I've never done before. I never expectated to love the romance as much as I did. It took me completely by surprise.

No reason, you want a similar amount of options that straight shep gets.
Going from 0 to possibly 6 in just one game.
Not to mention not everyone is gay or bi.

I'm a Straight Gamer and my male characters tend to be gay. I loved the Steve Romance form the get go. he was the reason i made a ManShep to begin with.

as for knowing gay gamers, I do have a firend who is gay, and happens to be a gamer. he likes Tabletop RPGS mostly.

I agree looking back on it now, at the time since I didn't think SS LIs would happen I just found that a bit odd. Once I played through as femshep I understood it though.

The first time I do tend to pick LIs by what I find attractive but for other playthroughs I go with whichever goes with that version of the char.

And to give another point of view my lesbian friend who I just got into ME does the same. (Liaramancing in this case)
