can you give us some insight on how the buffing/nerfing process works since you're obviously interested in this thread?

Its a number of factors, the game play guys would spend at least an hour a day in game testing different things.
We would also hold a weekly meeting where we would be asked what we felt should be changed. How people came up with their suggestions varied from person to person.

I would believe that BW has it´s own data they use to balance game, but right now the only conclusion I can come to is that BSN actually has quite big role in it. Because ever since Reckoning, I met like 5 Edi´s in pugs and only one of them seemed to be able to use her to full potential, yet she got nerfed like that....
just my 2 cents

Just going to hop in here, balance changes were never put in the same day. Generally the balance changes need to be in place thursday. I was the one who made the suggestion about buf****g barrier.

Funny but I think you got the joke wrong. It goes like this:

During sex with my girlfriend last night, I suddenly stopped and kept very still...
Girlfriend: "What are you doing?"
Me: "I saw this on Y*uP*rn, it's called 'buffering...'"

I always assumed the BSN played an indirect but still large roll in balance changes.

I think somebody on the stream for reckoning said something along the lines of basically "We do our best to balance them but our testing vs real world play is totally differant."

Until they see the feedback on the forums about what works and what doesn't they're flying half blind. Once they start seeing more "data" it becomes easier to say what needs work, and in what way.

I think the intention behind a given character, weapon, or build stays the same but seeing how well it works doesn't truly happen until it gets into players hands.

how many game play guys is that approximately?  do they just pick random characters?  do they stick to the newer kits/weapons?  at least an hour, but how many average per day?  how long are your meetings?

and a little off-topic, what's the one idea that you may have had that you wish didn't get out voted?

RJ I think its safe to assume we all blame you for the AIU. We are still ascertaining your Global IP address.

Format C:\\*.* soon to follow.

About 5 designers, I dont really know I am not involved in their sessions.

Yes there was a few balance changes that I suggested that didn't get put in place, and there is a good amount that did. I wont be going into specifics though.

that last question was just curiosity on if there was one idea that you really wish was incorporated but just didn't make the cut.

as for the 5 designers, that helps a lot and answers a lot of questions for me.  multiplayer is quite a workload for 5 people so i think bsn should really cut them some slack from here on out.  i myself will do the same.

if there are any changes that anyone feels strongly enough about, do your research and present your viewpoint in a clear as well as concise manner.  provide a couple of possible solutions and i'm sure they'll make the effort to hear you out.

edit:  it would probably help them out since they just don't have the resources to foresee all possible complications from the get go.

Pull me up if I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but is that past tense?

"...the game play guys would spend...", "We would also hold a weekly meeting..."

I'm probably seeing something that isn't there. :?

I can imagine. But judging by how you play the Geth Infiltrator, don't you think you are slightly above average in how you can handle AIU when you specialise her?

It annoys me that she got a nerf, without some alternatives that would be rewarding, but I still see how good her ability was and is. Make her less...boring/not very accessible or competable playstyles would have been nice so she doesn't have to rely on that one fantastic skill, unlike the other super-dupers like  Krogan Vanguard, Geth Juggernaut and Turian Ghost to some extent.
