We will never discuss drop rates, so even if it was changed there would be really no way of knowing for certain.

Brojo, I would really like to know what your manifest is at, how much you've spent, and the hours you've put in. That way people can see on a more personal level that a creator of this game expiriences the same things and has to go through the grind as well.

I just unlocked the Harrier today, and have just under 200 hrs put in. I felt like this was a lot and that Harrier has been driving me crazy since release. If I could've unlocked it sooner and started leveling it, I'd be more content with this game the way it stands.

I think what most people beef with the RNG system is not that URs are hard to get, but that so many of them are not signifigantly better than the Rares which ore more readily available.

I have spent 75mil

A lot of this fervor might go away if you guys just gifted everyone a Lancer!

Now as much as your calculations seem reasonable Byran, it's the fact that it's random that urks me. If it was indeed a set pack of 1 million credits. I would be totally fine with it. But it's the fact that I've gone 8 and 12 million credits in a row without seeing a single UR drop, is what bugs me. 600 hours, 12 months of play, and I have a half arsed UR manifest, while some others I've seen are at 300-400 hours and are maxed right out...

Here's a thought.

Maybe you don't actually have to max your ultra rares? Maybe having them at a decent level and playing well is enough? I don't understand some of you people, at all. If you're feeling obsessive compulsive, go wash every car on your street/lot. Eight times.

stick to your guns BroJo, its not because im greedy, its because progression through unlocks is a huge part of the game and should not be to easy.

So you say I have to put in more time into this game? I have just over 400 hours of gameplay for this MP which is by far the most of any game I have played and I still need 63 N7 weapons before the new DLC where I have 0 in all four of those weapons.  So after 400+ hours, I need 103 N7 weapons and doesn't add in the promo weapons with gear/mods I also need.  No way I am going to play this game for 400+ more hours because this year is going to be busy for me and with the new consoles coming out, we only have the spring and summer still left.

Edit, I guess we can add in the Fall too, but there is no way I can see playing this for 400+ more hours.  I know there are others out there who feel the same way.

400+ hours of bronze and silver is alot different than 400+ hours of gold and platinum, im not calling you out, im just stating a point.

this is really no different than buying an MMO, people want all the high end stuff so they level up and do the hard dungeons to get it.
when casual players wont ever get the cool stuff for one reason or another, but can still enjoy the game.

if you look at it that way it, then you see why it is difficult and/or requires alot of dedication.

if you are a bronze or silver player, UR's really arent going to help you out anyway, UR's are basically rewards for gold and platinum players.
just like the +100 sword of goober slaying is for the high level dungeon runners.

so yeah, im not telling you that you cant do something, but if you want the stuff you gotta do what is required, otherwise the game would be stale if everything was just given away without any challenge or self gratification of earning something hard to get.

Like I've said before, it's not about that "level X" ultra rare, it's about being able to even get an UR weapon in the first place. I've been runing Gold/Plat for many hours a day for the past few weeks trying to the Lancer to no avail...

The main difference is that in an mmo there usually other ways of getting the good stuff (trade, auctions, etc.....).

I don't have to max them.  I have two kids, wife, job.  Lots of stuff to do beside play ME3.  However I have put 400 hours in and would not be happy to have an exit from thsi game without getting to try the Lancer.

A Lancer 1 is all I want out of everything left, but I might get that tonight or I might not get it in the next 150 hours played.

That's just not cool.

You're wrong, PSP will can be deceiving by giving you only 1 Rare Weapon and 1 Ammo IV, sometimes 2 Ammo IV.

Spectre Pack is the way.

How is that different from 2 Spectre Packs giving you one of each or 2 lvl IV ammo? Other than wasting 18% less credits?
( the answer is "You get more consumables and common/uncommon stuff", the problem is that you keep fixating on the rare slot unlocks when they are stritly worse)

2 Silver Match -> 1 Spectre Pack + 1 Recruit Pack

1 Gold Match -> 1 Spectre Pack + 1 Veteran Pack

PSP is not an option for a casual, new player, that can't play with the last year pro community KroReeGuards and GI Pirhana squads.

...
How is this even remotely helping your point? Are you trying to say "you get unlocks more often, it is more annoying to wait 3 games than 2"? In this case I'd answer "as a casual, after 4 matches I'd rather unlock 4 rare cards than 3". The reason Veteran packs can be good for new players is that it gives them more of the uncommon stuff they need (mods, mostly, but Mattock and Grenade Capacity are other good examples) and also more Consumable (something casual players tend to need more than the very good ones who can carry a game with a lvl 1 kit without spending anything).

So there actually are some arguments for Spectre Packs. The thing is that what you're saying either makes no sense or is actually an argument for PSP rather than SP.

Well well mister "I haven't unlocked all my Uncommons and WANT immediatly all URs" you just counter argued everything I said.

My tip works. Buy Spectre Packs, they work marvelously for unlocking anything.

Try it out. You seem to disagree about it, but let other people understand it's a way out, to enjoy multiplayer and feel that the RNG is fair.

Those +5 Medis / Ops / Rockets / Ammo packs are really valuable too. Better not wait on hitting 100k creds for a +5 there.

I have more experience than you. I bought a lot of Spectre Packs at beginning and they unlocked half of my Ultra Rare grid. Follow Bryan Johnson PROGRESSION advice. Start with buying Recruits... then once you've unlocked everything, you buy Veteran, then Spectre...

does that even really matter?

besides alot of MMO's do make alot of top items "account bound".

sounds like to me, you guys are trying to find a way to complain about not getting everything by playing the easiest difficulty.
that may sound harsh, but it seems like that is what this really boils down to.

I have spent 75mil

[/quote]

i have 620+ hours on Xbox. (A little over 100-120mil spent on my part cumulatively..)2 weeks before reckoning came out, I maxed my manifest. Then I saved up roughly 10 million for reckoning. Of those 100 packs or so, I got SIX ultra rare cards (INCLUDING THE COLLECTOR) and then on top of the 4 new ultra rares, you guys added the promo weapons. 9 ultra rares in two weeks? All I'm asking for is an increase in drop rate. Not a small one. Like a good 5-10% increase. I went from getting atleast 1 ultra rare a day, to between 1-3 ultra rares a week. It's a little ridiculous. Please, for the love of god, increase the drop rate. I'm not asking for an UR pack for 500k. Just an increase, PLEASE.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if the gap in performance between level 1 and level X guns wasn't as large (looking at you, PPR and Lancer especially). Plus there's the issue with being able to try out new URs.

I'm really not a fan of the performance gap across levels 1-10 and the gap between commons and URs - but that's an issue for another topic.

Here's the real problem...

This topic should be splitted in half.

Console users and PC users.

That "UR pack" strong desire comes from desperate console users I think. PC users can't complain.

Because -> Console users requires a longer play time and must use more consumables in order to stack the creds. It's hard to find players too in the 1st place.

It's hard to land a Crusader bullet with joystick. Powers(flamer, bio charge etc.) works well I know, but for Gold... firepower is a + on game time speed.

The game is easier than ever, don't change the RNG, Bryan!

There will always be gamers who dont want challenge, but feel like they deserve the reward.

How is luck supposed to be a challenge??? How is never getting anything if you're unlucky rewarding???

The challenge comes in earning the credits to use in the RNG reward system. If you feel the work is harder than the rewards given out, maybe its not the system, maybe its YOU. Thinking the RNG system isnt fair is an opinion, not a fact. Your best argument would be to show the developers that they can make the same or more money by increasing the drop rates. Which is very silly.

I appreciate this game, and all the free dlc that was provided. RNG system was a win for both parties, and it shouldnt be changed unless there are plans to shut this game down, or ME4 is about to be released.

Let's talk real $ then, because that's what it's really about. It costs approximately $300 now to get a Valkyrie from Level I to Level X. I find it hard to believe that anybody would think that's reasonable.

One thing I continue to see thrown around is the amount of time invested in the game and how its should equate to finally achieving equipment.

For simplicity:
240 hours = 10 days
480 hours = 20 days
720 hours = 30 days
960 hours = 40 days
1200 hours = 50 days

Most gamers are going to land someplace in the range of 500 hours in a given year (most) and in other games this is seen as well for typical online game play.

20-30 days played in a variety of games with a handful of "expansions" (DLC) with over 1329 (ME3's numbers from Bryan) permanent items to be obtained is just simply unreasonable (thats an avg of getting a new/upgrade item every 22.5 minutes).

I suppose though it also depends how you see the game, as more of an RPG element game in which case 20-30 days is next to nothing when coupled with the expectation that you would have recieved all the best equipment.

On the other hand if you thought of ME3 as something like COD then perhaps after playing that long you wouldn't be too unreasonable to expect that you had access to pretty much all weapons and all addons, had you been playing with the express purpose of unlocking those, not just winning matches.

There is some more to touch on with this, but at the core for the sake of argument is, examine the hours to days played and compare that to other games you played that you either felt you were trying to "unlock" equipment and the process to do so, and the time spent in a game with raiding for example to get your character equiped with all those pieces you wanted.

Having both played a good deal of this game when it came out and having played others games such as BL2 farming for items like those that drop off Verm, I know plenty about the frustration of time put in and the reward for that time. Frankly my own opinion, ME3 is far from frustrating in comparison to many of the other games I've played when it comes to acquiring equipment.
