Again, off topic.

Create a new thread about the issue or quit whining.

Right, sorry about that I just always like to respond to people.  Regarding the subject I honestly don't think Bioware will release an UR pack.  5 free DLCs speaks for itself in how much money they've made with the current drop system.

Who's to say they might make more money by adding UR packs?

I've sated this before but the game is changing, it's losing it's support. The way I see it, if Bioware wants to maintain the playerbase (or at least stem the flow) then URs should become easier to obtain.

If money is the question, it goes without a doubt that they'd make more money with a UR pack in place. You can't even argue that.

If a ur pack is added for like 5 bucks, I know I would buy at least 2, since I have a couple of psn cards with nothing to buy. I'm not gonna buy psps though cause I'm just gonna get lvl 4 cryo ammo again

Personally i'll be playing regardless but would enjoy a UR pack or increased drop rate if that is possible. I doubt even with an increased drop or pack that i'll max the manifest but every little unlock adds enjoyment and they are hard work with rares maxed.

My question for Bryan (if you can answer it) is not what the drop rates are or which pack is better but simply whether the PSP, arsenal and reserves packs all have the same drop rate. Many people have spent a lot of time tracking packs to get a sense of this but ultimately range is range and i'm unsure whether to back their claims or not.

Are UR drop rates the same for all rare slots?  Or generic, non-binding words to that effect?

Apologies if this has already been answered or if you're unable to comment - 21 pages is a heck of a thread to check! ;o)

Bioware/EA does stand to make a few dollars if they add an UR pack. We all know people would jump at the chance to unlock URs.

Either a pack that comes with an UR or an increased drop rate woks. The game has been out for year. Time to change things up.

Also, it's not always about maxing out the manifest. Some of us would just be happy to have level one of certain weapons...like the Harrier or Lancer.

I'm jumping in late, and I'm hoping I'm not just parroting what others have said. There was a lot here to digest, and I went over what I could in one sitting.

To Brojo: I honor you for coming in here and pitching a tent in the middle of a battlefield. Not too people would be willing to do that. You always had my respect, and this shows me I placed it with the right person.

To everyone who is FOR increasing the UR drops: I feel the same way as you. I want a full manifest, but I also realize why it just can't happen ... for many numerous reasons. Truth be told ... would anyone guarantee they would keep playing until ME4 came out, if I could wave my wand and grant them a full manifest this very second? Sadly, most of the reason we keep playing is to max out our manifests, and given what I have seen from my own profile, most players should be able to come close to that dream by the time ME4 releases. No, not all of us will max our manifests, but we should all have a couple level X URs we can hold and cherish ... oh, the precious!

To everyone who is AGAINST increasing the UR drops: I understand your side as well. The better half of you are players who were here last year when it all began. You were playing the game back when no one knew it would take off, and it angers you to think that someone can earn in a few weeks what you have earned in a full year. I get that, and I fully respect that.

So, how do we make everyone happy when we all want something different? The only viable solution I see is to leave the store as is ... but to create a way to earn URs more quickly. Here's my idea:

As we seem to want to keep people playing, then maybe that's the behavior we need to reward. I'm suggesting that commendation packs be handed out for a certain number of hours spent in-game each week - regardless of the level(s) played. As this is already recorded in our N7 manifests, I know that it is monitored by Bioware.

As a bonus, Bioware could cut in half the amount of Bioware points needed tp purchase each pack. In effect, this would reward the players who purchase Bioware points without giving out the message that a player had to invest cash to purchase in-game packs. In effect, they would be thanking their purchasing playerbase for their financial assistance.

I'm not saying my solution is perfect, but I think it comes the closest to a solution that could be accepted by both sides. Those who wanted more URs would be able to earn them through gameplay or increase the odds through purchases in the store - while those who wanted URs to be earned should be pleased, as players would need to play more or pay more to earn extra URs.

BTW don't burn me on a stake ... I'm just a player trying to help us all find a solution, and by no means do I promise that my solution will work for anybody or everybody. I just want to see a resolution - like everyone else - as I hate to see our community divided on a forum when they should be out on a server helping ME stay out of the embracing grasp of some mean, old Banshees!

ugh if you look at those who have played over 600 hours a overwhelming majority of them have either had their URs maxed out or close to it so if you have spent 1000 hours and have few and low level URs then it must mean that you have been in the easier difficulties most of the time thus not received as much credits. So instead of blaming Bioware or EA or whoever maybe you should either move up to higher difficultie or spend your credits wisely and not wasting them on Recruit packs

at least you are close to maxing out all the pre reckoning URs. I started playing Rio/Reaper platinum early on so it didnt take me long to max out all of them :P  and lately I have been playing lots of platinum games with the juggernaut and was close to maxing out the new URs before they unlocked all the promo weapons Image IPB

So finally a response to "y u no Mk I prioritize?" And it's a "This is not possible."

Much like Garrus in the elevator, "So disappointed."

I say increase the drop rate from approximately 5% to 10-20%

Lordy, this thread is depressing. When Arsenal packs came out, I did spend real dollars to max my rares, because the drop rate was acceptable, but I'd never, never do that for URs with that pathetic drop rate.

Since Bioware is in business to make money, I'd recommend a high drop rate pack only for those spending real money. Apologies to all fellow players.

It seems the only option for those like me just climbing the ladder is take my best rare lvl X plus best consumables and go gold. Not good for the gold players already there, but there it is. Blame Bioware.

Rationality aside, I would still dig a guaranteed UR pack. Drop rate increase would be acceptable top

Well you get 1 UR every 10 PSPs approximately. Each PSP has 2 rare slots, so 2x10 equals 20. Therefore you get 1 UR every 20 rares or 5%

This.

I'm a member of the maxed rares club, and for me, the "progression system" (which should function as an incentive to keep playing) has its opposite effect: it reduces my enjoyment of a game I otherwise have fun playing. When the system that should keep players hooked when they start growing bored instead works as a demotivator for players who aren't bored yet, something's wrong.

From a personal standpoint: I have 100-odd levels of ultra rares left to unlock. If I could feel fairly confident that an hours worth of gold play actually netted me one of those levels, then it might actually work as an incentive. It would actually make me more interested in playing, unlike now where it's reducing my motivation to play a game I otherwise enjoy.

I don't even know how many urs I still need to unlock. Nor do I really care. Mass effect stopped becoming a competition for me long ago. I Only play to chill out with friends now.

We will never discuss drop rates, so even if it was changed there would be really no way of knowing for certain.

Out of simple curiosity, assuming this is a question you are allowed to answer, what is the motivation behind not discussing the drop rates for packs? From my point of view I don't see how knowing how often they are supposed to drop affects anything other than alleviate confusion among the fans.

I suppose it could lead to some misconceptions among people who don't know how probability works.

EDIT: Added quote I was referencing.

I cant even discuss why I cant discuss :P

I bet it's because UR-drop rate is tied to the whole Packs for real life money, so it inflicts with your NDA, doesn't it?

Having been at work for 18.3 hours yesterday/today ( I started work at 10 am EST Wednesday and wrapped at 4:18 am EST Thursday) I saw this thread and BroJo's first response at some point in what now seems the distant past that was my life.

Now at home, contemplating going back in 9 hours, I get to read this thread and the MANY responses from one Bryan Johnson.

Serious NDA you got there, duder. I know what those are like. Thank you for your activity in this thread; if nothing else it shows that BW is listening and understands that this is a hot topic.

I have to admit to curiosity about how much I have spent at the store, but I will not spam BroJo with that question.

I also have to admit that as much as I have played, and at the skill level that I believe I have attained at this point, I feel kinda like a scrub. My manifest is nowhere near maxed. At just under 900hrs played, and at least 2/3 played at Gold or Platinum. At least 3/4 of total matches were extractions, and by the time we were granted bonus credits for extraction I would put that extraction percentage at 95%.

So, despite significant time invested, and high difficulty chosen in almost all cases with successful outcome, my pre-Reckoning maxed manifest now has 23 of the new URs to unlock as well as however many N7 unlocks I have left, something like 18 or so. Since round numbers make math easy, call that 40 unlocks now to max things once again.

40 x 750,000 credits (average of BroJo's UR "cost" calculation) = 30 milllion credits.

30 million credits / 133k (Platinum cash at high value) = 227 Platinum matches with full extraction
or
30 million credits / 95k (Gold) = 315 gold matches

227 Platinum matches @ speedrun 10mins = 2270 mins = 38 hours of playtime
(This calculation ignores time spent in the lobby, and that 10 min speedruns (or faster) requires friends that know you and what you are doing and vice versa.... this is unlikely to happen back-to-back-to-back etc)

227 Platinum regular runs @ 25 mins each = 5675 mins = 95 hours
(This calculation assumes you can find a PuG lobby that is good enough that you can drag them through in 25 mins or always have a couple friends online. This we know is not the case.)

315 Gold Pugs @ 24 mins per (I can achieve this regularly with unknowns/newbs/scrubs) = 7575 mins = 125 more hours of playtime.

I have 125 more hours of in-game time left in me, and will probably do a lot of 10 minute speedruns in the next few weeks. I will be playing plat in those speedruns, and will PuG plat a little more often -- although Origin sure tries my patience sometimes. This would put me at around 1000 hours of play for the fully maxed maxxy maxer. When I do the math, and look at it, I think there is something wrong here.

Is it something wrong with me, or wrong with the drops? I really don't know.

TL; dr

Maybe I am a scrub.

Is this something you have experienced or are you going based on what you have heard?

63 PSPs without not only URs but not even gear (I maxed kits, rare weapons and mods), around July/August, post Earth DLC.
My personal experience.
