Why Muliplayer will die without the Ultra Rare Pack

Now, seeing how I have played apx. 100 hours of multiplayer sense release (I am kind of casual and rather busy) and received 3 Ultra rare upgrades, not counting the promo weapons. This is out of 160 potential upgrades. It will take apx 53 times as much time to max my Ultra rares, thus 5,300 hours of gameplay.

That would be 219 days of playing without any sleep, bathroom breaks, eating, or going outside.

Now seeing this, can even you people who believe in Ultra Rares being ultra rare agree that we need a new pack or at least a buff to to drop rate.

What do you think Bioware? BSN?


I support his idea if...

You have to buy 10 Jumbo equipment packs beforehand, so the cheap ass skates have no excuse for not equiping/using consumables in gold Games. Thank you... :sick:

I don't know about you all, but I have been averaging 25-30% UR's in the last couple weeks I have been back. Maybe because I had so many to unlock after being gone so long. I will play 3 or 4 platinum games then buy some PSP's. It has been pretty steady that I see at least one UR in those 3/4 purchases.

600k netted me 4 UR's last week (one pack was a double).

Personally, I've had the opposite luck: about 5 million credits since the DLC, 3 URs (not counting the Collector Adept).

Complete opposite and for a long time now. Even before Reckoning, I actually quite because I was on such a dry streak.

12 of those UR's were the 2 Volus and Collector, are the characters easier to get or something?

Even minus the 12 mentioned above, I have got about 10-12 weapon UR's also.


Edit: Meh, I still need 107 to max the UR's out. So there is plenty of time for cold streaks.

I've played allot and spent allot; ever since the new Arsenal pack came out I thought 'finally a pack designed to increase weapon drop rates', but after 70 arsenal packs and nothing but +4 weapon mods I gave up. It's next to impossible to unlock 1 ultra rare pack let alone the 92 I need to complete them. Since there will no longer be new DLC, they should make the ultra rares to rares. All we want to do is play with the items and gear, why make it so difficult to get?

I believe UR character cards are like "Super Rares;" they're less rare than UR, but more than rare character cards. Still not easy to get, though.

Yes that is the defenition of the game dying.

Unfortunantly this is a discussion about what might cause the game to die. I'd like to think most people realize that if the servers are shut down you will be unable to play the multiplayer.

I completely agree.  While it is fun to try new builds and I still find ME3 fun, the amount of time it will take to max my ultra-rares is crazy high, even considering 95% of my games are now gold or higher after getting BotB.  I say do the 500k pack with a 50% chance of a second UR or maybe double the chance for an UR to drop in a psp.

Doesn't matter if the UR drop rate is reasonable or not. It will kill this game. Long time players will give up and people will stop paying for packs

Again, you keep making the assumption that people want "easy" rewards.  You are wrong, and the players who have no problem with the RNG are on the right side of the curve.  You're lucky, some aren't.  Shouldn't you be playing since the RNG obviously gave you everything you want?

i doubt it.

cannot say for sure, but I spent 16.9 million credits after the DLC (171 PSPs only) and got 36 URs. That is a pretty decent drop rate for sure (about 10.5% per slot, or 21.5% per PSP).

Since then I have spent about 3 million and gotten an additional 7. So for me the psp is the way to go.

IMO they def have upped the drop rate from what it was 6 months ago. We will never know for sure.

And while I agree that  in some way the UR pack has an appeal, for most I am guessing the gamble and excitment of seeing that black card is what keeps them in the game.

And I really have a hard time beliveing someone has actually spent 8, 10 or 12 million and not seen a single UR drop. It is so statistically unlikey that it seems nearly impossible. (I said nearly)

Rumor has it Reserve Packs are actually better for whatever reason. We will never know for sure but there you go ... I fare, well, okay with them.

Just want to take a sec and point out that Bryan Johnson has done an excellent job keeping up with this thread. Props!

Secondly, I agree that it's better for BW if people spend "real money" on the packs. But they can already do that for the other packs. Adding a UR pack with a MSP value doesn't really change the fact that you can still make money off that pack.

And I appreciate your tallying of the ratios of rares and URs, but I can almost guarantee that I have not received 1 UR for every 7 rares I've received.

For real though, there is nothing more frustrating than still having multiple rares to unlock only to buy a PSP and getting 3 rare ammo. I have had interesting luck with UR lately though... went days without seeing a single one, and then one day I buy 2 PSP and get 4 URs. Since then.... nothing.

I've already forgotten how it feels like to get a desired UR weapon... I'm hunting for the next Harrier and a Paladin I for weeks already.
