I figure it would be at least a way to try the ultra rare weapons, I mean, I would really like to try a lancer, spitfire, or harrier.

Even for 500,000

Put in an extra zero there for you. :bandit:

Anyway, 500k seems to stretch things out a bit, IMHO. I'd rather that the drop rate be increased to 15-20% chance (preferably 20%, of course) rather than having to grind through about 4-5 successful  Platinum games.

You're still doomed to disapointment. That is more than 6 gold extractions for a 3 in 21 chance of getting what you want. How many times do you honestly think you would do this?

This is going to sound slightly cruel but let me postulate something to you under your model the cost of a UR is 333k. Lets say I go with the 10% drop rate in PSP (which I believe people have at least somewhat agreed is the low rate) that makes them worth 1million.

This means you would have 3 times the UR you currently have, and 0 of the rare gear/weapons/characters you currently have (discounting the Promo weapons since you had them before) you would have 9 UR levels instead of 3. That still does not give you a full taste of things that are out there. So even if you did save up, it wouldnt be much value imo.

Assuming that the drop rate really is 10%, I think 20% would be enough (and more realistic).

I've come to the belief that the drop rate has recently increased. I would put it around 15% now.

I agree with the increase to the drop rate. It makes logical sense as the UR pool is indeed nearly as large as the Rare one. Having a UR pack is a bit much, but increasing the drop rate of UR's is an idea I back.

Tbh, I don't really play unless with friends, mainly because I hate grinding through PUGs only to get ammo. Since Reckoning, I've spent over seven million credits and have only gotten the Scorpion VI as a UR. It's quite discouraging. Still, going to the original topic, I doubt a UR pack would appeal to newer players, seeing what BroJo said.

A small increase to the drop rate would be much appreciated. Perhaps to something realistic like 20% for PSPs and 15% for Spectre packs.

With over 90 UR's left for myself to unlock (Just under 120 now with the N7 promo weapons), and by unlock I mean by maxing out at tier X, the current drop rate for the Ultra Rare's is abysmal. While I can understand that by the definition of Ultra Rare, they are ULTRA rare to get... with the amount of UR's now (21 Ultra Rare weapons and the Rare weapons are at 25), an increase in the drop rate should at least be considered.

10% drop rate?

Given the frequency at which I get URs I'd say it's closer to 1% for me >_>

I'm not thrilled at the prospect of having even more URs to unlock now, given there's no dedicated UR pack.

Ok, that makes sense.
I guess I will just pray to the gods of the store to give me better luck. Maybe let my girlfriend play for me credits :)

Thanks to you guys for the good game, and the free headset at comic con

A lot of people keep mentioning that they're called "Ultra Rare", but I seldom see people pointing out that nobody complains that Rares come two to a pack.

I have to agree with you there... I recall someone mentioning in another thread here awhile back, that they thought the drop rate for UR's to be around 1%-3%...

Multiplayer does not die without an ultrarare pack. People keep playing more without it.

I'd still rather pay 1m for a guaranteed UR than extend a 2 month, 8million credit no-ur dry streak of PSPs, APs, and RPs.

With Rares, you're guaranteed to see them in a Spectre Pack and the other higher priced ones so there's no real problem with them... except when you spend 99,000 credits and see tier IV ammo/consumables... then people complain...

What they should do is make operation lodestar repeatable (the platinum version), so you get a ultrarare every 4 platinum games. Sounds fair to me. Might be exploitable with rocket speedruns, but if you do that you earn a crapton of money anyways.

Is this something you have experienced or are you going based on what you have heard?

10% per rare slot in a pack, more like, so 1 in 5 PSP's, I think.

edit: I assume people generally say they get 1 UR per 10 PSP's, which would really be 1 in 20, or 5%, rather than 10%.

But the point is that you can't use the name of the tier to justify how expensive they are, and how unreliable getting them is, when you have another tier with a name that indicates scarcity that has a pack that guarantees multiples of the tier.

Yeah, especially when rares are the most COMMON weapons I see out there. [Same thing with rare characters].
I might actually do an experiment of jumping into some lobbies and see what everyone's using and then stack up the rare/ultra rare/common/uncommon things i see

I've experienced something similar.

3 PSPs per day every day for a month.

No URs.

Sounds about right. I'm honestly astonished that so many people have them.

Speaking from experience, this is very possible. I went through a fairly long drought (almost 9 million if I recall correctly) last summer.

Thanks for replying Bryan.

Not really sure how what I'd like realistically done - I'd like to be able to obtain more ultra rares, but they also need be scarce to encourage playing and microtransactions. I'm OK with a large, significant time investment, but some of the math people have posted scares me in the amount of time it would take to actually max out ultra rare weapons. It somewhat discourages me from wanting to try and keep grinding with a realistic goal in sight.

I dunno - don't have any great suggestions on the best way to fix it.
