But I was figuring for new players who have to climb up like I did too.

that's a long time. solo gold, my time is like 10-15 minutes less

I can solo a gold with the Juggernaught in 30 to 35 minutes. So with a full team it takes less. Either your luck sucks or you keep ending up with other newer players in gold.

BroJo, I had a more or less 2 month long streak since early Jan where I got a Black Widow I and spent 8 million credits on the 99k packs alone, add more for the vet and jeps, and only last week did i finally get a Talon I in a pack and then a few days later a CSMG I in a reserve pack. This brings me up to 4URs and then 8 Promos since i started on dec 23rd, 26th for mp and almost 100 hours playing almost everyday for at least an hour or two a day.

I figure it would be at least a way to try the ultra rare weapons, I mean, I would really like to try a lancer, spitfire, or harrier.

Even for 500,00

This is going to sound slightly cruel but let me postulate something to you under your model the cost of a UR is 333k. Lets say I go with the 10% drop rate in PSP (which I believe people have at least somewhat agreed is the low rate) that makes them worth 1million.

This means you would have 3 times the UR you currently have, and 0 of the rare gear/weapons/characters you currently have (discounting the Promo weapons since you had them before) you would have 9 UR levels instead of 3. That still does not give you a full taste of things that are out there. So even if you did save up, it wouldnt be much value imo.

And for those of us that already have all the rares, the PSPs don't have much value, but a new pack that would give a guaranteed UR would [even if it isn't really cheeper, but more for giving us the peace of mind that aftere we work our butts off for X amount of games, we have a goal to actually look forward to].

Edit: That stands for newer players too. Giving them that goal to work for, having it there and obvious is a good way to get players to work for it. I know that when I started, I would save up through 6 bronze games for one of those nifty Spectre packs to see if I could get one of those sweet rare characters.

That, and I've heard of streaks from 2-15 million credits but I can only confirm mine.

Not sure what luck people have here but when I spend a million credits I normally get at least one UR. How someone can spend 8-10 million and get none is beyond me. Did you spend 8-10 million at once or just play a game, buy a pack, play a game, buy a pack.

The store works a lot better if you save the million and drop it all at once on one pack type (PSP, AP, RP)

it was at least 8 million over the course of a month or two, and my rares are still not really up to par for easy gold play [only play gold on weapon heavy build with lots of consumables and good amps] so i have to sit through silvers for hours a day. Sure, it can be fun, but I really REALLY want to have the feel of a Harrier or PPR or Javelin in my hands.

[okay, I had the javelin in sp but not the other two]

Bryan, don't you think at least having a reliable option makes sense though, even if the cost were commensurate to the rarity?

I mean I certainly wouldn't mind paying 500,000 credits for a single UR, even 750,000 wouldn't be out of the question. 1,000,000 could even be fair as long as it came with a good selection of consumables, not as many as buying 10 PSPs obviously but at least 5/5/5/5 and some level III/IV stuff.

The randomness and never knowing when I'll get another UR are the objectionable part, not the estimated average cost per unlock over time.

well obviously buying a pack here and there for months will make it seem like UR's are hard to obtain.

But if you save up credits and spend it at once...they drop like flies. I am telling you, save up a million and tell me you don't get an UR.

It has been over an year and no more online support. After spending hours and only getting ammo I have to wonder why I am playing this game when bioshock and tomb raider are just sitting there.
Hell, dead space gives you their ultimate weapon after two playthroughs.  At a certain point I just say to myself "just let me play with the good stuff already!".
So yeah, I defiantly support an ultra rare pack.

Please do not forget that the present drop rate of 10% indicates not exactly 10%, it means the drop rate can be anywhere between 0-10%.

Having a drop rate above 10% is just pure luck and ofcourse, getting lucky also has some probability.

With the present number of URs, 10% is very very less. Atleast increasing the drop rate to 20% will increas the chances of getting them. Its been one year and still we are complaining about the drop rate. Bioware, please do something!!!

saving up a million urs would talk me at least 2 or 3 weeks, and considerably longer if i buy JEPs and [naturally] won't be tempted to buy some stuff in the middle. Just saving a milion or more straight up is hard for me, especially since silver.

1,000,000 credits for one pack...lol.

Take a chance and spend 1,000,000 credits on 10 packs and see what happens.  It is random, yes.  You never know...I landed 5 today with one million.  4 were in a row.

I've saved up a million, and not gotten a UR. More than once.

lol, at least pose a real challenge. One million without a UR isn't even that rare of an occurrence.

I was going to post my opinion about original post earlier but stopped because I am going to sound like a douche..

but original poster just needs to play this game more.

Not everybody is suppose to max UR weapons. A player with URX still needs some recognition within the game.

Making a UR pack would just flood gold and platinum with EVEN MORE new players who are NOT at all ready for those difficulties.

As for Urs I actually have much better luck from regular spectre packs.

Check my manifest of weaponry, realize I need one silver for JEPs, and then use at least 2-3 medigels and rockets a gold and tell me to move up to gold again. I play maybe 3-5 golds a weekend to my 10-25 silvers and maybe one or two, three on the weekdays compared to the copious amounts of silver which i need and spend on Veteran and 99k packs.

Did you buy 10 of the same packs or are you one of those...well I just bought 4 PSP's and got nothing so lets try an AP!

You talk as if I'm fresh off the boat in MP land.

I've played this game for 800 hours on two different platforms and a 10 pack streak with no URs is nothing uncommon. I've gone 4 million credits with nothing but ammo on at least two separate occasions.

I generally get 1-2 per million. Sometimes I get lucky though. I'd probably cough up 500K for 1 UR. a mil? nah.

i had a full mani util they added the 4 guns last week and now the promos are UR so i'm 23 away from maxed out i think

but i got 3 out of 7 buys today and all were promos so im wondering if their drops a little higher.

I have since the MP DLC been getting 2 per million i'd guess but i would rather just spend 500 and for sure get one. Others don't get them but one per mill

I'd still rather pay 1m for a guaranteed UR than extend a 2 month, 8million credit no-ur dry streak of PSPs, APs, and RPs.

Is this something you have experienced or are you going based on what you have heard?

Possibly both. I personally have spent 2.4 million all at once recently and pulled 1 Venom III out of it. I'm not going to complain, because the 3 million spending spree I went on before that got me 10 URs, but it's not that farfetched to believe a no UR run can happen. Sometimes you get real lucky, other times the RNG can truly be cruel. I don't think a UR pack costing so much is necessary, but tweaking the UR drop rate, especially with the massive amount of new additions, would be welcome. Something like 12-15%. So they're still UR, but the dry spells won't be as severe.

before i was like "i want that M7 Lancer" now that i have my M-8 Avenger with the stabilizer mod, i am now liking and appreciating the M8-Avenger, for the fact it shoots precise (meaning it shoots straight bullets)....

:)
