Why Muliplayer will die without the Ultra Rare Pack

All I got is: I want a UR pack! Cause once I finally get my 2 reset powers I want to play some new builds, and have fun with those for awhile, that'll be it.
But, if I have an ur pack, ill keep playing for sure, even if its just to grind to be able to buy the packs, cause I won't be able to help it

Is there no way to prioritize Mk Is of weapons, Brojo?

8million credit no-ur dry streak of PSPs, APs, and RPs.
Is this something you have experienced or are you going based on what you have heard?
Ive personally had a 3.5 million credit dry streak.
I dropped 2 million yesterday, after promo guns were made URs, and only got a single UR (Hurricane VIII).
Dry streaks are frustrating. If the RNG store gave a small additive chance per "missed" potential UR, so after x amount of packs you were basically guaranteed a UR it would be less frustrating.

I'm not playing multi very long (180h), but I'm already experienced gamer (I was playing Doom at the age of 2
Take a look at my manifest and count my numerous URs... I don't even have all of them. I'm also starting to get lvl 4 consumables... RNG Store is, to put it lightly, damn useless.

We all know Its all the luck of the draw but when you sit there and spend several million credits and get nothing but L4's it can get very irritating.

I once had a 6M + streak and in desperation saved 4 M and spent it all to only get IV gear... after that i started only buying JEPs untill I heard about this DLC and started saving for that since I've always read that the drop rate was higher for new DLCs... in which I unlocked something like 10+ URs when Reckoning was released, actually counting the Collector UR char cards it was more like 15+

I'd much rather have a Lancer 1 than 5 more Scorpions.

Alright I feel like jumping into this debate, this will only focus around the point of "Why Muliplayer will die without the Ultra Rare Pack"
It seems the OP is speaking from a perspective of a new player or a casual player.
So regardless of whether there is a UR pack that costs 500k a new player or a casual player will never buy this. We would be talking 1-2 weapons vs having 10 weapons/characters/gear.
I'm just jumping in here to say
I've been playing religously since launch
My UR completion rate is nowhere near even 50%
And yes, I've been purchasing PSPs and playing Gold (A bit of Platinum Speedruns here and there) for the majority of this time...
Simply put: Give me an UR point and I'll max all my URs, then move on. Don't and I'll play for however long this MP still entertains me, probably still getting a few more UR cards but again, nowhere near completion, then move on.
I cannot believe the intention behind URs is for most players to never unlock them or get them beyond low levels...especially since quite a few URs need to be lvl X to compete with Promo/Rare weapons. It's dumb!

I may as well ask:
There's almost a tone of doubt in there. Does this mean you think it's not possible to have a 8 million no ultra rare streak? And if so, why?
The chances of buying 80 of something that has a 10% chance of a hit without getting at least a single one, are pretty low. In fact lets calculate it...
Binominal Probability Calculus:
Probablility of success in a single trial: 0,10 (10% - the chance that BSN seems to have accepted as being average)
Number of trials: 81 (80 packs without a UR and a single pack with one: the 81st pack bought)
Number of successes: 1 (since the streak ended at 8million or ~80 pakcs)
This gives you a chance of spending 8 million, or buying ~80 packs and getting only 1 UR;
P(X = 1) = 0,00176
or a 1 : 568 chance.
Now, since people are generally really bad at fathoming low probabilities, this actually happening is equal to filling an area the size of tennis court with pizza boxes, have one person throw 1 ball in a random direction and hitting exactly the one that you were thinking about.
I can understand that BJ is asking if it actually happened.
Edit: Food for thought...
If we increase the chance of getting a UR to what i've experienced (i have been noting the packs and UR's since the PSP's were released and have been buying them exclusively with exception of a few mistakes), we land up on:
Probablility of success in a single trial: 0,1681 (16,81% - the average occurance of me getting a UR since PSP's were released)
Number of trials: 81 (80 packs without a UR and a single pack with one: the 81st pack bought)
Number of successes: 1 (since the streak ended at 8million or ~80 pakcs)
P(X = 1) = 0,00000462
or a 1 : 216450 chance.
Now we're talking 4 football fields full of pizza boxes - throw a random ball in a random direction and hit the one i'm thinking about.

I think that's kind of the crux of the issue, isn't it?
Some people are playing more, but they sure aren't gaining more. Sometimes they are even gaining less despite the time they've put into it. That's sort of what happens with RNG systems, no?

20 psp's yesterday. Zero UR. There is something seriously wrong here.
this. i saved up 4,5 millions for the dlc. and it brought me 12 URs (including the collector, fully upgraded), 3-4 days later the lancer I. since then i spent more than 2 millions, and the best i got is the plus rocket from the lodestar. i'm really sick and tired of lvl IV ammos. a little frustrating.
i reconciled myself to not maxing out my manifest, i know i won't, becuase i really got tired of the multiplayer. the latest balances make me try the "new" talon engineer but otherwise...

I'm just over 800 hours and spent a good amount of time on silver, since that's where I had the most fun. It shouldn't prevent me from trying all the weapons. I'm sitting on a hefty pile of level 3/4 consumables, some of which I'll probably never use (I'm looking at you explosive ammo).
The idea of an UR pack would ease the frustration, since I know that even by playing silver only, I can sometimes buy a pack which guarantees me a black card. Even if it's an upgrade to a weapon I already have, at least I know what I'm getting. I'm perfectly fine with the jumbo pack, I know what's in there.
Now that multiplayer is entering its twilight months, such a pack would not have a huge impact on the micro-transaction IMO.

Look up "Skinners Box" and take a long, hard look at what the function of the store really is.

The RNG treats everyone the same. Thats fair.
People playing on higher difficulties are getting more shots at the store because Platinium it takes more skill, consumeables ect. to do so, but their chance is still the same. Thats fair.
Would it be fair to decrease their chance simply because they play a higher difficulty?
Would it be fair to increas the chance of getting a UR for an individual simply for because he is new and play lower difficulties?

The RNG doesn't treat everyone equaly. My buddy has less than twice my hours and got two double ultra rare packs (I'm talking about double weapon pack, not the double volus one ;-) In my 800 hours, I've never seen one. On the other hand, he had a 2/3 million cold streak, when I've never had one that exceed 1.5 million (roughly). Is this fair? I'm not so sure.ABjerre wrote...

A game should never be balanced towards higher difficulties, that's what Indie/hardcore games are for
The store could have been like that: buy a level 1 UR weapon for 500k and subsequent upgrades for 550, 600, 650 etc. it would still take 7.25 millions to max this weapon. Is that fast for you?
Just for the sake of it, I can buy a paladin or any other specter weapons in solo if I want to, if I have enough money. I have to chose between saving my money for them, or spending on lower quality weapons/weapon upgrades/armors. It should be the same in multiplayer.

*snip*
Except that it's not a 10% drop rate.
Some people can get that, some don't.
I went through 3 PSPs per day every day for a month, that's 90 PSPs.
With a 10% drop rate I should have received 9 URs.
I got 0.
