Can someone explain why people go all crazy when they post forums or questions on why each console is better.

1. Can someone tell me if Dragon Age Is better on Xbox360 or Ps3
( Please don't mention Pc since Xbox360 is the same company as Pc )

2. Which consoles is really better by quality not games?

3. Lastly people sometimes mention Xbox360 has better graphics than Ps3?? Why?

It's pretty much the same game. I sh!t you not.

If you have both consoles, get it for whichever system has your preferred controller. That's the biggest difference.

EDIT: Oh, you want to know which console we think you should buy! I get it now...

Anyway, get the console that has your preferred controller.

As far as games go, they both have mirrors.

Halo and Killzone are both over-rated crap fests.

Gears and Uncharted are both lovely gems.

Because people are very, very stupid.

1. Apparently the PS3 version has slightly better graphics but is susceptible to a little glitching where you bring the pause menu up and it stays up even after you try to get rid of it. I am certain the 360 version does not suffer from this bug.

However, it does suffer from a ****load of others, but I think all of those bugs are shared by the PS3 version - although I would not like to say for sure, so take a quick look at the PS3 Technical Issue board.

I have no idea about questions 2. and 3., though.

Edit: And I have a 360, it is fine, but I am seriously considering getting a PS3 because they don't seem to be in a position to MASSIVELY RIP THEIR CUSTOMERS OFF like MS do

I say both ^_^ but I know that's not realistic for everyone. But I feel I have an educated opinion so here goes:

Me and my boyfriend own both a 360 and PS3 because... well we just happened to get them through freak accidents over time. Lol... But We've found that there are so many useful utilities on the PS3 that we use it 90% of the time, over the 360. The graphics, in my opinion are better. Although if you don't have an HD, its probably a toss up. But there have been a couple games that have just gotten better reviews on 360, as far as gameplay and loading times, etc. Such as Bayonetta. Its supposed to look the same and play the same on both consoles, but the disgusting loading times on PS3 have earned a decently sized minus to its review on said console on several sites. So its only been very situational for us to find any use out of the 360 lol.

And what Godak said about controllers, I completely agree with as well. But I have to say a rechargeable standard PS3 remote that may be a little uncomfortable or awkward to get used to(at first -to someone who is used to a 360 remote) is worth getting used to vs all the money you'll spend on batteries and new headsets due to THAT stupidly designed 'utility.'

Free PS3 online is nice, I own both, but I have to say: It's not as well rounded as Xbox LIVE. LIVE is only 50 bucks a year, which isn't a whole lot considering 365 days. The 360 has much more pros to its online features than the PS3 does. I only use the PS3 to browse the web when I can't use my laptop. But ultimately, I say get a 360.

By quality your going to want to go with PS3. Blu-ray obviously is the big hardware gem for Playstation. 360 overall has a better online experience as the 50 dollars a year from every user allows them to add in some neat features. However Sony is beginning to overhaul their online. There's talk about a Playstation Network Premium that you'd pay and get tons of new features.

I'd get Dragon Age for the PS3. I have it for 360 and my friend has a PS3 version and I think the ps3 one looks better. Plus when it comes to single player games I prefer Playstation compared to 360, probably because 360 is where all my multiplayer games are.

PS3. The X-box 360 isn't much worse by any means, but the PS3 just has more memory so they have a little sharper textures and that's about it for difference.

( Please don't mention Pc since Xbox360 is the same company as Pc )

You asked what console. Besides, PC isn't the same company as X-box 360 and certainly not the same quality. Heck, they are not even the same type of game. (literally)

2. Which consoles is really better by quality not games?

PS3 generally has better looking graphics, but X-box 360 has multitudes of good games.

3. Lastly people sometimes mention Xbox360 has better graphics than Ps3?? Why?

Because they are fanboys of X-box 360 and refuse to admit defeat to "Sony's inferior console".

Fact is, most households only has 1 console and a PC. Some people thus owns a Wii and a very good PC, some people have an X-box 360 and a good PC and other people have a PS3 and a crappy PC. And some people have nothing that really suits at all, like all three consoles and a very powerful PC. It's really just a matter of taste when it comes to most games, but the few games that are designed for a specific platform are usually best on that platform.

Look at Oblivion. Very good on X-box 360. Pure **** on PS3. And can be made good with mods on PC.

Why's that a reason for not mentioning it?

It's true that a lot of the companies who designed parts of the Xbox 360 like IBM, ATI and Microsoft also contributed significantly to the PC but it's quite a different animal and in no sense the 'same company'. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are far more similar to each other than either of them are to the PC.

Because nobody likes different systems and if everyone can be convinced to stick to the same platform then it'd be better all round. For one thing, there'd be no annoying exclusives and all games would be open to all gamers (except for age restrictions of course).

Probably because it does for some games. Some games are designed for one platform and then ported using the least amount of work in the hope of making more money without putting the effort in so they inevitably end up looking worse than the original.

I thought most of the games on Xbox360 and PS3 were generally only 720p with some, like MW2, being even lower resolution?

I own a Wii and a PS3, and I go over to friend's houses if I want to play a 360.

Still, the biggest difference that you will notice between the two systems are their controllers. You honestly won't care about graphics in the heat of the game.

The 360 controller is better for shooters, IMO. If you anticipate playing a lot of MW2, you might consider getting a 360.

If you are primarily playing DA:O, get the PS3.

The only thing better about the 360 is the whole party thing, other than that, the PS3 is better in nearly every way.

lol ijust went through all my 360 game just to make sure :)all of them except Tomb Raider:Legend are 1080p.

the only ps3 titles i can check are Killzone 2 (1080i),Uncharted 2 (1080p),Bad Company:Battlefield (720), and Metal Gear 4 (1080p).Im sure the ps3 hardware can amke up the diffence, but i think thats where the better 360 graphics myth comes from IMO.

My PS3 flashes a yellow light, beeps and turns itself off. :pinched:
My 360 plays games and DVDs and CDs. :wizard:

You just got really unlucky with your PS3, the xbox has a much higher failure rate.

Either way, you should just be able to send it back to Microsoft/Sony and be a-ok.

It's quite simple really. When you invest as much money in a console as you do, you want to think that investment was worthwhile. Anyone who bought the other console is a risk to that thought, so you write them off in you mind as an idiot.

Wolfwing0100 wrote...

PS3. Hypothetically if you were to build a game exclusively for a console, using all the power available on that console to its full potential, then a game built for the PS3 would be better (technically) than a game built for the 360.

However multi-platforming is all the rage at the moment, regrettably.

Wolfwing0100 wrote...

Because most multi-platform games are built for the 360 first, and then ported to the PC and PS3 afterwards they will run slightly better on the 360. As I was saying above, a PS3 exclusive will look better than a 360 exclusive, and possibly a PC exclusive as well, but unfortunately multi-platform games are more numerous these days.

You are misinformed. The titles that you think are 1080p on your xbox are at best 720p. When it says 1080p on an xbox piece of software, they're talking about upscaling from 720p to 1080p which is really possible for every sub 1080p piece of software. Your television set probably has upscaling hardware in it.
Of the ps3 titles you listed above Killzone 2 does run at a native 1080i but the rest max out at 720p native and upscale to 1080p.

It's exceedingly rare to see titles with a 1080p resolution, it's more common even to see titles with sub 720p resolution in order to save processing ala MW2 which renders at 600p.

Multiplats are almost always going to be easier to produce on the 360 due to it's directx style code and simple GPU/CPU layout, this doesn't necessarily mean that a PS3 title is going to look worse for sure, it's just a lot harder for the devs to make it work.

This is because of the extreme architectural difference between PS3 and xbox/pc. A game, like Uncharted 2, needs to make use of the cells spu's in order to handle tasks like culling and post processing and all sorts of things that help shore up the RSX chip which is a fairly weak GPU, what this means is code needs to be written completely different to take advantage of the SPUs on a PS3, which can be a very time consuming process.

Also the strengths and weaknesses of each system make different practices ideal on that platform. For example the PS3 isn't as good as the 360 at handling transparencies so as a best practice you will often see transparent effects, like smoke from explosions, rendered at a lower resolution than the rest of the image, to save on bandwidth.

I have a PS3, I have a PS3 because of the free online, blu ray, open platform (don't have to buy all the branded accessories which can be way overcharged for on 360) and the catalogue of exclusive games it has. If I have the option however I will buy the game on PC as that is my platform of choice.

Last point for graphics, today the difference in quality between multiplat games is almost unnoticable, a slightly lower resolution shadow and aa that isn't quite as good(although the saboteur implements an interesting aa system on the ps3). The PS3 exclusives have thus far eclipsed in terms of visual (and I would say gameplay) quality their 360 brethren. Titles like Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 as well as the upcoming GT5, Heavy Rain, God of War 3 and The Last Guardian demonstrate that very clearly.
