I'd like a street urchin background. I'd love to play a protagonist that's spent his/her life on the streets, stealing, conning and killing people just to survive. A case of mistaken identity or something leads him/her to become the Inquisitor (or whatever it is we'll be).
I'd also quite like a traveler/nomad/gypsy type of background. Having the option to play as a protagonist who has traveled around Thedas, never stopping anywhere for very long would allow us to start off with a neutral attitude to the whole mage/templar/whatever thing and then maybe form our opinions on the situation as we play.
Don't know if you read my previous suggestions in other threads or if you've been poking around in my brain...[insert suspicious Fry]
In any case, this.
All I want to be is a street rat with a bitter past and trust issues who rises to become the almighty Inquisitor.

-you are a smuggler, you have been raised in the alienage by your Elf parent, never meet your human parent, but you know he/she was a noble (I know, cliché, but sometime is good ^^) you are not look well by everyone, but your human look let you help better your family and friend with the excange with humans merchant.
-you are the son of a Dalish Elf, and you where let grow up in the clan because of your affinity to the magic, and became an apprentice of the keeper clan, even if you would never became one yourself because of your human blood.
I'd love some half breed with Dwarfs as well, for rogue and warriors. even if we don't know how half dwarf look like.
alternatively to the half breed background, i'd like the Ash Warrior background, or the follower of the Qun.

Hmmm. Apparently you didn't hear that the main character is human?

Ah. I'd bet my shoes that they won't give us a mixed-descent racial background.
Can a dwarf and a human have a child together?

I am not fond of merchant backgrounds myself, but I would like to be an Orlesian Commoner or noble, but I have a feeling you already have your role at the beginning for some reason, hard to imagine the character being picked

Considering Morrigan and the Dwarf Warden can have a child together, I would say yes.Fast Jimmy wrote...

Half Elves look just like human and are considered in society to be human. Some Dalish clans dont even allow half elves to live with the clan even if there mother is Dalish.
So a half elf background will not go against what bioware said about having a human pc. I dont see why bioware would not consider it.
