I'd like for both of my parents to be alive at the start of the game and to survive until the end.

I don't know if some of the Origins are realistic. Presumably your character will be an Inquisitor with ties to and approval of the Chantry and with Cassandra as a party member. So you cannot be an apostate almost by definition. So your possible Origin will be limited.

Will we even have the option to reject companions?

hm...

what would i want for my character? - well:

- Tevinter Magister (i just love the idea of a mage country, even more as mages are treated like dangerous animals everywhere else (worst are the Qunari...barbarians the lot of them!))

- Apostate (i just hate the very idea of the chantry/the templars - so i would love to play a character who has managed to slip through the cracks/kill templars searching for him/her)

- Demon/Spirit would be nice, if they could make it work :) (hell, that would make it really interesting if you were a being of the fade that managed to "get out")

other then that, i do not have preferences - i just do not want to be a grey warden again (i like them, i just don't like to be poisoned and having my own live cut short - without the option of not doing drinking it) and most non-mage things do not interest me (in a world where magic is real, i would not want to be a "mundane")

greetings LAX

Personally I'm hoping for origins similar to what "Arcanum: of steamworks and magic obscura" had.
(can be read here if you never played it: http://www.gamebansh...ionaltraits.php )
That is, it gives you some positiv as well as negative traits, and might change your starting stats.

I'd like to play a Tevinter refugee. A mage who didn't quite have the raw power needed to get an apprenticeship with a magister and ran like hell as soon as he could.

The only thing I could think of was something akin to the Dwarf Commoner origin in DA:O. Maybe a criminal or a beggar. Actually, the beggar background could be pretty cool. I think the main character in video games is usually too badass; I would like to play as someone who is beaten down and spit upon.

However, from reading this thread, I do think playing as a Tevinter mage could also be pretty awesome, especially with the stigma that comes attached (everyone from Tevinter is evil). That'd be fun as well.

I was disappointed that there as no 'Human Commoner' origin in DA:O. A 'simple' farmboy/girl that has been practicing his/her fighting skills in the hopes of joining the local Arl's or Bann's guard or something similar.

I'm hoping that we have a choice of someone who had humble/normal beginnings (no mages in the family, no noble blood, etc) who through pure stubbornness and/or ability raised through the ranks. I know its cliche' but it works for me.  Then we get to play someone who either remembers what it is like to be one of the 'people' or who forgets what its like to be one of the 'powerless'.

I'd still like to see the Human, Dwarf, and Elf racial components for origins as a mult-output experience for the new story. I got DAO since it came out, and after a year of inactivity, went back at it with Awakening as well. Party diversity in their composition is a big part of the fun, with some culturally-charged dialogue with the rest of the people of Ferelden throughout the journey, depending on what origin I started out with. Anyway, I'm late to the DAI speculation party, but nonetheless, I'd be very happy if racial origins were in some way integrated with the new storyline.

Orzammar Legionnaire (Dwarf), Dalish Hunter (Elf), would alternatively be great to have as companions, whilst having deep stories behind them with connections to powerful allies from abroad.

This. From an underdog to a badass character/leader.

The option to be an orphan after my family was brutally murdered by Blood Mages.
Just so I can go against tradition and be the nicest guy anyway.
A noble.
And Batman.

I would like to have a Ben Hassrath origin where my mission is to infiltrate the
Chantry and the Inquisition. I think it could work and would fit well with the DA3 theme.

I'd like to be a loyal Circle Mage who is bewildered at both Mages and Templars, though I think he would understand them both given his upbringing.

Orphan- taken from the streets and forced into the chantry- either embraced it or chafes against it
Mage given to the circle - agrees with Circles or (secretly) wants freedom
Noble- 2nd or 3rd child- career chosen for them by family and tradition- uphold family honor and tradition or be a black sheep
Middle class- Struggled to enter higher eschelons of society with career- want to belong or reform society

These are a few ideas and yes I did get the basis from Guild Wars 2
P.S. all of them want to own a horseImage IPB

I loved playing as a dwarf noble, so I'm up for a noble origin, preferrably Orlesian.
Tevinter Mage would be pretty cool to, and the option to be a sister of the Chantry.

I'm kinda hoping for something multi tiered. Like a questionnaire of sorts.

For example a few a bout family.
Are they alive: No.
How Did They Die: Murdered
By Whom?: Blood Mages/Qunari
Where?: In Kirkwall

Better laid out obviously. Then there be questions about where you obtained your skills etc

Did anyone say time traveler yet?
That, or a street/tavern performer.
