There should have been an option to leave Jacob and Brynn to die.

Which is not at all unlike leaving Jacob and Brynn to die. Just pointing out if you were looking to be one, there is a way to do so in that very mission.

Killing Brynn just cause Jacob dumped youand possibly killing everybody with her... is just to petty if not downright evil.

It's like Shooting Falere after Samara kills herself... It's not you dealing with a liability, It's you using the excuse of Pragmatism to feed your sociopathic tendencies and bloodlust , Here it just be you getting back at Jacob those caught in the crossfire be damned.

Look Jacob being the cheating love interest -and basically screwing Femshep of LIs in the end- was a DUMB decision. 1. cause it pretty much derails Jacobs character and 2. Ruins the whole point of his loyalty mission.

but wantng a woman scorned option isn't the answer

I can understand why the VS acted as they did. I still think it's ridiculous for Kaidan to accuse FemShep of cheating if she moved on to someone else though. He can call Shep a traitor, and make it clear he wants nothing to do with her (and continue to freak out about Cerberus in ME3)... but he still thinks they're together? Wtf Kaidan.

nah, how the VS acted on Horzion was way outta bounds and incredibly un-profesional and disrespectual to act against a friend and fellow/former alliance marine. Let alone Best friend, brother in arms or even a lover. But again this was for game design reasons. After ME3's intro and shepard being reinstated as Commander of the Normandy the way the VS acted, especially Ashely, on Mars would have warranted corporal punishment even a courtmarshall in the real world.

The way Ash or Kaysauce talk to shep on Mars is so desrespectful, if anything they should be appologizing for the way the acted on Horizon. But that's why Garrus and Liara are so awesome, especially Garrus, always loyal no matter what. Never questions Shep. But again this is because Garrus as seen everything shep has first hand. The same can be said about Tali.

The VS are a joke post ME1- wish I could sacraficed both of them, especially Ash and all her BS.

So tell me: what if Ash/Kaidan were right and the Shepard they encountered on Horizon was, in fact, their clone (the one with no memories of their past life)? Would you still be getting on their case for harboring a little doubt that Cerberus would have brought Shepard back with no ill intentions?

I do find it amusing how some one is always wanting to hit somebody in this game, mainly for disrespecting their Shep. lol

And What if the dreams in ME3- you know the ones with whispers in the dark and oily shadows aren't dreams at all but indoctrination attempts against shepard. And what if the end game is a battle of wills against the reaper/indoctrinated choices and choice of shep and all allies.

What if. What if. What if.

See, it's just a video game and you can try to analyze all you want but it's just a game. Much like the VS on horizon. it was done for dramatic effect and to introduce ME2 characters rather than having the VS, or Liara or Wrex re join the crew. It happens because it happens.

Shep's not a clone in ME2 and I never thought he/she was. The VS was just being a little brat. Plus, how did the VS get un-frozen from the collector swarms? I never got that one. Space magik I guess.

In what world is it okay for you to intentionally kill 2 people because one of them rejected you? Like, what kind of horrible monster is your Shepard?

Good question.  The VS was right next to Lilith (?) who was abducted and melted into Reaper goo on the Collector Base.  Kaidan may have used his biotics to escape- I'm not sure about Ash.

Playing through the mission of saving the Cerberus scientists on a Jacob-mancer does not flow unfortunately. For me it has very strange combos of being dumped and being the hero happy to save them.

My FemShep would have pulled them out of there no matter what, but she would also have made her disappointment known. Apparently you can do so in the new Citadel-dlc so I am content. I did not believe that they would go back and put resources into changing a previous mission but I am happy that you can yell at him a little. The slap is there for those who wish to use it.

People do sometimes move on, and it is not always they do it in a good way. So these things can happen. It would have been much more interesting if this story development had been picked up on in any way. A friend coming by to see how FemShep is doing afterwards, Tali, Liara. A nice convo about valuing friends you have. Perhaps this could have been a good way to segue into a fine rebound relationship. LI-to be comes by"I can't believe that he did this to you? I woud never do something like that."

In general I think it is a good thing that perhaps not all relationship is a matter of "pick-your-LI-and-be-happy". But when things go wrong I wish that they game would pick up on it and do something with it. That would be really interesting. So overall I am content. People can move on, wish my FemShep did not act so strange in the original mission but the dlc seems to be taking a better stance on it. I would have been much happier had this lead to something new and interesting material in the game that could not be seen otherwise.

Looking at the actual scene, that would be kind of hard to do. Remember that the level ends with Jacob and Brynn swooping into save Shepard, not t'other way around. Renegade Shepard can be petty, but even she would not go so far as to push her ex and his new handle into the path of a metaphorical train out of nothing but spite, especially not after they had just saved her life.

Yelling and slapping is a much better alternative because that's what women do in real life. Even if it is just a game, I would find it extremely distasteful if such an option was presented in the real game. It isn't like with Wrex, Zaeed or Legion, who all presented a clear danger when the option to kill them arose.

For me Jacob was just a token black dude, I always found him boring. That being said, the fact he can cheat on shepard did make him at least a bit more humorous. Cortez should have been in the story since ME2.

Yeah, that's his one redeeming quality. I'll be forever thankfully for his ability to rustle jimmies on the BSN (even non-Jacob-romancers seem indignant that anyone could possibly reject the great and noble Shepard).

Seriously, though, I do feel bad for the Jacob fans.

And they got played... by Jacob. :(

Ah yes, "Jacob fans". A mythical race of ME players who have Jacob as their favorite character and romance in the ME series. We have dismissed that claim.

Wait a second.

Jacob, sure. Brynn on the other hand? What part of Jacob's leaving FemShep was her fault? It wasn't like Brynn actively conspired to steal him away or anything.

She knew Jacob was in a relationship. Sleeping with him anyway, then acting like a possessive b*tch to Shepard when they meet shows she's just how small her integrity is.

Also, just don't do the mission.  Jacob and Brynn die.

That would be meta gaming though.

Not really. If you don't rescue them, the Cerberus scientists are all killed. The same thing happens with Jack and Kahlee Sanders at Grissom station if you wait too long to do the mission.

I really wished there was a way I could've slapped some sense back into Jacob though when you first meet him. That lady knew he was dating my Femshep and went after him anyway! :pinched:

Incorrect. Jack doesn't die, Cerberus turns her into a Phantom.

A Phantom which is then killed by Shepard.

I had Jacob killed in the suicide mission just for what he did in ME3. Best he die a hero than live as a walking sterotype.
And don't tell me none of you haven't done this.

That's a good idea, now that I think about it.

Stereotype after stereotype. Jacob has abandonment/father issues during his loyalty mission. He then abandons FemShep.

This doesn't make sense, I guess either Bioware couldn't resist or they didn't take time to think about the implications.

I don't see how Jacob's romance is stereotyping.
