I like the theory I saw today reading the thread on NeoGAF. One person there suggested that SC5 really started as a F2P browser game from EA's Play4Free but they decided to convert it into a AAA game mid way through dev, which they apparently barely even tried to do that much. Small city sizes, UI using javascript, limited to using one CPU core, and forced multiplayer systems make that look like a strong possibility.
It's funny I joked with my former WoW guildies who bought the game that they bought a $60 facebook game. Its pretty pathetic that it appears to be true.
This wouldn't surprise me at all, actually, except for actually deciding to turn a F2P game into a AAA title. Typically EA goes in the opposite direction (see: Command & Conquer Generals 2 --> "Command & Conquer"), and there's not exactly been a huge groundswell of simulation games to encourage them to do that. Only ones I can really think of recently are Anno 2070 and Tropico 4.
Hell, I can imagine them ending The Sims as a AAA series when Maxis is done making 3's expansion packs and forcing that to be a F2P "games as service" title, probably just called "The Sims".

So apparently these are the games that people will be able to choose from.. not exactly the best options
You're kidding, right? These are one-year-old games. What more do you want? You wouldn't be satisfied if EA gave every one of these people one hundred bucks, would you.
I really don't understand the concept that you need to be monetarily compensated for something like this. It's a stupid mistake, but compensation is silly in my eyes.
Well, considering the type of game simcity is, I think it's a bit odd that most of the games in that list are shooters. Seems like a considerable part of the simcity audience might not be interested in those offerings. A Sims game or an expansion would probably a better choice.

1.1 million sales in 2 weeks...Damn it.
It could've been much better in the long term if their "vision" also included an offline mode. No debacle, more sales.

Yes. If this game was done properly, it would have 5 million sales... Not kidding. It has a big fanbase obtained in 24 years.

Hay I'm surprised they brought A - material up for grabs. EA catalogue doesn't get much better than that. Sim City 4 being there is hillarious though:D Bit of a "fück off fine ok here's a good city building game please shush now."
I do agree, that is kind of funny--not a smart move to promote the PREVIOUS entry in your series to make up for this one's troubles.

They are all pretty good games except for Warfighter.
Too bad I already have most of them.
